I dunno Detolf always looked kinda cheap and virginal.
I'd prefer something that has a more bold aesthetic and works as a piece of furniture on itself.

There really isn't. Anything comparable tends to be in the range of a few hundred to a thousand or you are stuck with wooden furniture that looks like it's from someones grandparents house.

Detolfs are basic as hell but can't argue with their price. If I could get something custom in a rough price range to a detolf, I would happily do that but for the time a detolf does what I want nicely.

I like that the bottom-most shelf is above the ground by a reasonable amount. The price though is something that I'm not too bothered myself, but I can understand that the lower price contributes a lot to the detolf's appeal.

Dioders are the LED strips sold by Ikea themselves, but the cabling is bulkier than the ones shown in the OP and putting 3 strips per shelf would make the cables really hard to manage. What kind of LED lights are the ones in the OP, anyway?

Thats really my only problem with the detolf. Nothing is worth displaying at ground level. More often than not I use that space for the containers and boxes of whatever is on the three shelves above.

This pretty much. The detolf's problem is with the design. You might, might, be able to solve it with heavier materials like an all steel construction to improve stability (heavier and stronger joints) but it's a tall and narrow case holding heavy objects with glass shelves. It's a fucking retarded idea from any construction stand point. If you want to see how a proper curio cabinet is made look up china cabinets, even the smaller ones are large and often corner placement.

Honestly, I feel raising a detolf off the ground with a small cabinet isn't that bad an idea. At least you could throw in some boxes, or all the figure accessories in there while also raising the height of the display.

Plus it's Ikea. if they did a legs option to raise it off the ground, it would be two separate items you pick up from warehouse part anyway.

Yeah that definitely would be the case, but they would pretty much give you something that was specifically made for the detolf rather than modifying separate pre-existing items.

Those small cabinets I have seen aren't bad, the extra space it would provide is a plus, but at the moment, I don't have the space and am planning on getting only one detolf for the time being.
