In conclusion, Sabine and the rest of the FoD dolls are just not recommended in my book. They’re too expensive, too limited in articulation, lame gimmick, and the heretical sin of molded on clothes. However, once they’re inevitably tossed in the clearance aisle after Christmas, these dolls are a good source of kitbashing. I’d love to get a cheap Endor Leia just for the cute Wicket figure alone.
As I was taking pictures, I couldn’t help but to mentally compare these FoD dolls with Hasbro previous Equestria Girls doll line. EG suffered from similar cost cutting measures as FoD is now. Specifically, the varying changes to the buck doll body mid-toyline production. Detachable feet shoes, (ala Bratz) molded on shoes, plain bare feet. Elbow & knee articulation, no elbow & knee articulation, no elbow, but knee articulation. Full hair, molded on hair. Etc. You get the picture. EQ had poor sales throughout it’s life and now Hasbro is rebooting the entire EQ line because they done fucked it up so badly.
And that’s where I see FoD going. The line is so unfocused that it can’t decide to be either a fashion doll line or an action figure line and thus taking the flaws of both with none of the strengths. I’m sure there’s plenty of people out there that looked forward to this toyline when it was announced. But Hasbro has created a hot mess of a toyline that was destined to disappoint those that wanted it. Seriously, why can't the biggest toy company make a decent fashion doll?
