So, is he any good? I sadly lost the chance to get the original and also prefer this new design and alt-mode by far but god, the lack of paint in the robot mode really is... Errrm... Distracting, to say the least.

If he doesn't count as a retool, then at the very least he's the same engineering to the point he's the Chromedome of PotP. A character so similar to a previous line it's basically a retool, even if it shares no actual parts with the thing it's basically a retool of. An engineering retool? Fuck, I dunno what to call it. But it's very obviously Silverbolt's engineering even if the mold is original, in the same way TR Chromedome is Deadend's engineering on a much better toy.

Or hell, repaint Hot Spot into that Decepticon fire truck from PCC. Then they could get an easy repaint of Streetwise into Barricade, get a Knock Out or some other Decepticon medic, get a hearse lady from Moonracer, and a random seeker like Thrust or Ramjet from an Aerialbot mold. Boom, fake Protectobots.

I'd also like an orange and yellow Devastator repaint using Autobots like Scoop, Quickmix, Landmine, and some other obscure Autobot construction equipment.

Yeah, because that would be the only reason to buy him. He doesn't look much like Inferno at all, and is completely outclassed by the old Universe mold.

At the very least they could have made him into Pyro or Fire Chief or one of the other fire truck dudes that don't have figures, but, hey, gotta appeal to the Sunbow plebs, I guess.

The problem was Prowl didn't age, he was bad as soon as you opened the package. That paint was bad from day 1. Every toy from Universe except Hound, Cyclonus, Inferno, and Sunstreaker needed a do-over.

TFC gets stronger with each release honestly. Their liokaiser was goo dsave for knee joints, then Poseidon knocked it out of the park and gave even feral rex a very solid run for it's money, and in many peoples opinions out classes him.

In my ignorant perspective (don't have the toy, only have photos) the coloring is attractive, and the Blurr mold is a cool design. Is there something wrong with the engineering on TR Arcee?

2 things primarily
1, the shoulders/fenders are hideous
2, the lanky forarms (while great for a speedster like blurr) look terrible on arcee
And on just a personal preference, the blockiness of the alt modes hood/grill seem extremely non arcee.
I still don't understand why they didn't go with hotrod. Slight hood retool, change the spoiler, bam, done.

I liked Hotshot. If I recall, you could overlap his back kibble so they get in the way less, albeit at the cost of accuracy. His Minicon was crap though.

Galvatron's a weird one. I actually like him, though of course, he could have been way better. Weird thing is that if you rotate his knee guards so they face plate forward, he's actually stable while standing straight up. But if you want to pose him, you'll have to rotate him with the kneepads facing forward.

I loved my MP01. I only had the 25th anniversary DVD Prime, but he's been one of my favorite toys since I got him. About a month ago, though, the canister thing on his leg that keeps it from collapsing into the shin for transformation snapped. I'm still kinda sad about it. But I ended up ordering the MP-10 from Toys R Us because of it.

I'm still kinda bummed about my MP-01 being broken, though still displayable. MP-10 is pretty great and all, you're right about playability, He's lots of fun and easier to pose dynamically. I honestly just wish he still had the light up matrix feature and the posable thumbs so I can set him up to give me thumbs up.

Let me guess, was it whatever mechanism collapses his upper legs into and out of the alt mode? The same exact thing happened with my MP04 a few days ago and I'm still pissed about it, my passion for that mold makes me want to open it up and DIY a fix but my fear of screwing it up even more and go from an unplayable but still poseable figure to an actually broken one scares me.

Actually I'm not bitching about anything. Like the other anon said, if Hasbro and Takara can't get it right, Legendary Toys can. I caved for the 29.99 Primal at Ross. It was the articulated fingers that did it for me. I don't own any other toy with every finger being individually articulated, unless you count the KO PE CW hands.

As it turns out, he's ridiculously heavy despite not having any diecast, and his joints are scary tight which I suppose is necessary to support his weight.

It's funny that despite being a gimmick toy, he has way more articulation than any modern transformer. Not at all like today's gimmick toys where some flapping wings means the designers no longer have the budget to put in bending elbows and knees.

He can pull off the Iron Man pose better than anything else I own. But this also happens to be the only pose I feel comfortable leaving him displayed in. He's just too heavy and I don't trust his joints enough to leave him with only two points of contact with the ground. This is not a concern I've had for even heavier figures like the Weijiang Prime.

Still, I'm glad I got him for 29.99 - which is about how much I think he's really worth - instead of Hasbro's original asking price of 150. What the fuck were they thinking?

Those are good contenders, but I think even they are better. At least they tried and a mode was decent, Grimlock fails on everything:

-Bad Robot mode
-Bad Beast mode
-Bad Comibner mode
-No weapons

I mean, what's a positive here? I can think of positives for those guys, but not Grimlock.

What are you talking about? Robot mode is subpar but not awful and Dino mode is much better than FOC. Yeah, combiner mode is ass and it's sad that so much had to be sacrificed for it, but just hand him FOC Grimlock's sword and he's fine.

Eh, I don't think they would've fixed the weak-looking build of the body or the frighteningly thin hands if they hadn't made it a combiner limb. All that would've change would be the back not having the combiner peg inside but everything else would most likely stay exactly the same, there would be no need to change anything I complained about.

Not sure what you're trying to say. One arm has upper arm swivel, elbow bend, and wrists. The other arm has just elbow bend.
