No one has an answer beyond whatever Medicos planned internally. Tie specific releases to WF, make a minor sale window in AmiAmi, then sell stuff like SAS Big for general release. Who knows given the slow release plans now (Major SAS drops in December - Winter WF exclusives - April 2018 for Baoh 2nd). I'm already used to lurking Mandarake or YAJ for this stuff but I'm more worried on final release quality and would rather wait on the Futaba, Twitter, and toy review photos.

Did they assemble the painted proto wrong? it looks like they accidentally put the bottom part of his coat above the middle by mistake, and i'm really hoping that the neck thing is because his head isn't sitting down all the way.

Probably going by this trend with Gyro, Johnny, and Valentine. On the other hand, with how painfully slow this line has become (December drop then we wait all the way to April for another SAS with no JoJo related reissues on the horizon shown) saving cash is easy unless you're dipping into other lines.

Not too sure how receptive the Japanese toy community is on this beyond all those Twitter shots of Gyro when people got him in-hand.

Maybe some info trend they got in? I heard there is a sizable fanbase in Japan for RWBY but I can't confirm that but I guess Medicos thinks that's an opportunity to chase. Though you shouldn't forget about the SAS BIG line which do open up another interest group if they want something of a bigger scale and better sculpt and are readily available to preorder as a new line for them to test.

Exclusivity sucks but if Medicos or whatever production crew they got pull another Gyro for WF exclusives then I'll be wary for future releases.

My only worry is that Tusk is WF exclusive. I'll still shell out big bucks for Johnny though because those accessories are pretty nice. Valentine is enticing for the sole reason that he escaped the yelling face it seems.

Top lol. Tusk, Valentine's alt head and the speech plates are all WF/Webshop exclusives.

That means that if/when they get retail releases (which if Gyro is any indication, they probably won't) they will come with..what. just one head (Valentine) and practically no accessories (Johnny) all for the bargain price of 7.5k each. Terrific!

I could line up at WF but Winter is a bitch. I'm going to try my luck on the webstore. Given that the 200 Gyros didn't sell out at Amiami (at least in the physical shop, you could have walked in and picked one up) I figure there's a half decent chance I could get one of the 1500 on the webshop.

Knowing my luck I'll get one, and still have to line up to get the other. It would be so good though if I could go to that fucking event for once and not have to get up at the crack of dawn just to die of hypothermia.

Just use Buyee. They will operate as a proxy for YAJ and it's easy as shit to use (make an account and search listings under Auction). I've used them plenty on other items but like any proxy there is additional fees that build up so anticipate your budget.

I've really wanted Gyro, Johnny, and Valentine + D4C for a long time, but the prices have gone up, the figures look cheaper than my other SAS, and the good colors are WF exclusive. Last SAS I got was a year and a half ago and it might just stay that way if the 2nd versions of the part 7 crew sucks, though I'll probably be waiting another few years for their release. If all 200 Gyro's distributed from AmiAmi were sold to westerners, then Medicos got only a measly $16,000 from the western market, and the rest bought Gyro from second hand shops.

A more logical scenario would be that some/most of the AmiAmi Gyro's were actually bought by nips as well as Americans, meaning that Medicos got even less money off Amerifats.

They are definitely not "banking" off western crybabies. If anything, they are actively preventing them from giving them money.

What? No. They're not. If these releases are WF exclusive then the only fucking way to get them FROM MEDICOS is if you live in Japan. If anything they're losing money because 90% of the time people that buy them resell the WF exclusive figure for twice the price on Mandarake or YAJ.

Not sure honestly, they are pushing SAS BIG and RWBY as general releases but SBR so far are exclusive and they probably feel the Japanese collectors won't bite on those releases for whatever bizarre logic they have now.

The guy that reviews SAS on YouTube liked it, the nips on Instagram a vast majority liked him.

Yes, Toyohisa's SAS should be abe to hit that pose or pretty damn close at least. Only problem is that the katana he comes with is way too small. both the handle and blade need to be probably about twice as long as they are.

Very mixed. On one he’s huge(which is awesome) like, I didn’t realise how big he was until I got him out of the box and saw that he was about the same size as the Nappa SH Figuarts. On top of that, his sculpt is gorgeous, beautifullysl sculpted clothes, his jewelry is all there and very nicely done, and his musculature is really nicely done too. He only comes with two heads, smiling and laughing, but for Nobunaga that’s really all you need. He comes with a small selection of hands, but he’s not exactly a JoJo character so I couldn’t really see him with any sort of style pose hands anyways.

My biggest gripe, and it’s a big one, is his articulation. It’s really lackluster. His arms are OK, I haven’t messed with them enough to know for sure what. they’re capable of, but they seem pretty limited. He actually has a surprising degree of articulation at his thighs given his sculpt but his knees are atrocious.

If you’re a Drifters fan, I’d recommend grabbing him, but sadly, I can’t advocate paying the full 7k+ he retailed for. It really sucks that this guy seems to have sold so horribly. Medicos is in a tough spot already, but with Nobunaga selling the way he seems to have been, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that that’s why we haven’t heard anything about Yoichi :(

Thanks a ton, I may look into the Revo if the blade on it is long enough otherwise I think I saw a box set of random swords in AmiAmi that may work since I think I saw a longer blade being one of the choices.

That's if you don't mind waiting over a year for the release. I'll be buying WF Johnny and Valentine for this very reason, I don't fancy waiting till like April 2019 to pick them up.

I'll give this Gyro a look though. If they improve the paint apps I'll pick him up. Maybe I'll do a hair transplant to give the original release the better face. I can't see grey hair going well with the first release.

I'm largely indifferent but I guess people are pissed towards the exclusivity, Gyro's unexpected final quality, and lack of reissues with big gaps in between SAS drops if we're going by the general releases in December - Winter WF February - April - September. Or maybe it's the fact we finally reached Steel Ball Run for the JJBA line and things ended up turning out like this. We have until February to see how Valentine and Johnny will come out when in-hand shots leak since I haven't bought an SAS in a very long time.

New Gyro looks great except for the green and the hair. Really nice, I'm okay-ish with the purple goggles but the green is ugly and the "grey hair for a blonde character's repaint" only really worked with WF Giorno, I know what I'm getting myself for my birthday next year.

it looks just like a paint defect rather than a universal flaw-- where it didn't get proper shading. that's visibly 90% of the problem. Is medicos pulling a matel and just cutting out painting parts?

Basically yes. Sculpt is as good as usual but they have cut back a lot on the paint, especially bare skin. It uses to be painted and shaded but Gyro had none.
