That's why Alternators Sideswipe looks nothing like the G1 character, and he has that massive kibble "hood" behind him that even has sculpted missile pods. The biggest change beyond the head was moving the doors (wings) from the back kibble to the shoulders (the only real G1 Sideswipe element the mold has beyond its head and colors).
