Neat loot! CW has some atrocious combiner designs but Bruticus is perhaps the one that sort of hold up well as a decent-looking figure, especially if you fold his upper legs upfront like pic related rather than sideways as the retarded Hasbro instructions suggest. The G2 version even looks somewhat more cohesive than the retail one with the tutti frutti colors and all.

Easily the best CW Voyager around - which is to say, he's an absolute fucking mess, just not as much as the other ones. If something, it has a surprisingly good-looking robot even if it naturally feels horribly cheap in every other retard, so that's probably enough to make him into an alright shelf piece.

Personally, as much as I defend Optimus Prime as a fun toy, Hot Spot might be the most functional of the core bots. The jet body they retooled a few times is a close second and better in some ways, honestly mostly for the hips.

Some sharing for the Asian guys. I risked ordering a TR Trypticon off the 11/11 Taobao sales. The price came to 670 RMB + 75 RMB shipping. It's my first time ordering something this huge from TB so I pretty much spent the last 3 weeks in paranoia.

It finally arrived today. There were sounds of shattered-plastic bits when you shook it. There is also this hole going through both the shipping box and toy box.

Turns out, the sheer weight of the toy and probably whatever poked that hole tore the plastic bubble right off the four corners it was taped to.

THANKFULLY, it's a children's toy so everything is still perfect. It's just that Trypticon's tummy was full of plastic-bubble debris.

The typical shipping "box" they use is cut-up cardboard wrapped and taped around the toy packaging. It's probably good enough for domestic sales, but the box will be guaranteed wrecked when forwarded overseas. Too bad for MISB collectors.

The mainland China versions of Hasbro toys comes with additional Chinese instructions printed on glossy magazine paper. Not really sure if it's necessary since it's mostly pictures, but the glossy paper has far better contrast.

I'm just talking about general accuracy to the character. LG Hot Rod's proportions trigger most collectors to the point that they think PotP Hot Rod is better, even though it looks cheap as shit and is clearly just a chintzy component to a larger toy. Also, people get oddly pissed about his painted spoiler and transparent chest. Also the fact that he's a headmaster. There's even that one weird who was rustled over the transparent windshields and painted over all of them.

God, fans of this series are pretty fucking damaged.

Kind of. Warden made a bullshit statement about how they allowed more detail to be added than a tampograph, because tampographs require a different operation for each color, while stickers can just be applied in one go.

But that's to overlook how utterly cheap and shitty these stickers look.

I got megs. The knees are annoying to transform, you need to stick your finger all the way into the leg hollow to apply pressure on the hinge so that the legs collapse fully. Not sure if they are fixing that on the Takatomy version.

Otherwise, I think it's pretty decent for a triple-changer. All modes are convincing, just that robot mode has quite a lot of kibble.

Honestly, I'm looking for the Hasbro versions because Takara's jewery with the extra titan masters and sleds is fucking annoying.
Later down the line I'll have to sell my Repugnus, Brawn, and Broadside to avoid TR Broadside's shitty clear plastic because they took ages to announce it and then they split Repugnus between Brawn and Broadside because they think "I GOT TO BUY CHINPOKOMON I GOT TO BUY IT I GOT TO BUY IT" is not an aggressive strategy.

Then there's how I have no use for a ghost Starscream and I have no idea when the fuck are they going to announce their Shuffler. As for the rest, they prety much cost me the same. I think I'm just debating on whether I want to go through that small hassle I despise or getting some slightly ugly toys here.

The jet mode is really good, tank mode is decent if you don't mind the gap in the front, and if you're not bothered by the headmaster gimmick then it's a good robot too. That Takara paint job really looks good so I would say go for it.
I have the Megatron mold and I think he's quite good, I popped off his turret and folded his wings in and he looks good having no backpack.

The stickers would be a little bit better if they weren't all printed on that reflective foil, they look especially bad on Starscream. Don't know why they didn't just go with the convention reveal scheme.

I had that issue with meg's knees but I found that if you hold the body with one hand and put your thumb on the black painted part and apply pressure from there, it's much easier to get the whole crotch area transformed.

If anything, I'd say that Victorion didn't have ENOUGH colors. Besides Devastator, who passes by having great colors, an extra member, and solid black forearms to break up the green and purple, Combiner teams that try to be cohesive color wise really need 3 or more colors to work.

You can see this in the Aerialbots, the Technobots, the Protectobots, the Predacons, the Seacons, and even with the upcoming Dinobot combiner Volcanicus.

Had one of the limbs been mostly black with either teal or red highlights, and had another limb been either exclusively red or teal with black highlights, I believe Victorion would have looked a lot better.

In the G1 World, former Decepticon ninja staff officer Sixshot surrenders to the Autobots to be imprisoned at the Planet Micro Satellite Penitentiary. Recognizing him as a member of the dangerous Six Clan, the personnel neutralize his six-changing ability by removing his head and converting it into a micro-sized robot mode, unaware that Sixshot has already been ostracized from the ninja clan by joining the war, going against their rules to stay secret. This is all according to Sixshot's plan, however, as he's working with Daniel Witwicky to infiltrate the prison and break out Star Saber, unjustly imprisoned by the compromised Galactic Peace Alliance. The Sixshot body held within the prison suddenly falls to pieces as Daniel pilots his real body, already modified into a transtector, out from the lava underneath the facility. Escaping into space with Sixshot and Star Saber, he explains that they'll hide from the Alliance in the Legends World.
On arrival, Daniel seeks out Chromedome, who agrees to shelter him and Star Saber but refuses to help Sixshot, murderer of his friends Abel and Jack. Not wanting to cause any trouble for his benefactor, Sixshot decides to act like he's been holding Chromedome hostage and confront Magnus while Daniel and Star Saber escape.

Ultra Magnus is happy for a rematch with his killer, positive that he won't lose with power of Alpha Trion, Matrix, on his side. Sixshot merges with his transtector and attacks the Autobot using several of his modes, intending to finish him off with his seventh Wingwolf mode once again, but this time Ultra Magnus is able to catch him out of the air and throw him to the ground. They both transform into their car modes and ram each other head on, and when the dust from the collision settles, Sixshot stands victorious... until he's suddenly impaled from behind by Nightbird, agent of the Six Clan, as punishment for defying them. Daniel rushes out to his friend, but Sixshot accepts his death, considering it just deserts for his evil deeds, and tells Daniel to treasure his life before succumbing to his injuries and exploding.

But that is not the end: a bandage-clad but alive Sixshot later purchases the magazine in which Chromedome's manga has been published and, treasuring the moment of peace he experienced working on it, resolves to repay him. Having learned that the dead can be resurrected in the Legends World, he seeks out Giga for help, wanting to bring back the friends of Chromedome he killed. Giga explains that the power to do so, the spirit energy used by the Zamojin, is none other than Shinchōkon—"God Super Soul"—and questions if Sixshot has the resolve needed to control it.

Aside from telling us something we already know (Giga and Mega are back), Sixshot was heavily injured and wants to right his wrongs... will they actually turn him into Greatshot instead of having him be a different character?

LG 51: Doublecross (despite him barely doing anything...)

The Legends World is visited by White Leo, leader of the Beastformers, exiled from his homeworld of Beast after being defeated by his enemies, the Laser Beasts. He uses six mystical jewels to transform Neo Akihabara City into a jungle and recruit the unwilling local beasts to fight alongside him, granting them Beastformer armor, though the local humans instead end up as naked as animals (and are offended when White Leo calls them "ape-type beasts"). Unfortunately, White Leo finds that he's been followed by his nemesis Tigerburn, Emperor of the Laser Beasts, who explains that the six jewels contain the crystallized power of the Three Wise Ones and that he wants his hands on them. Tigerburn is seated atop Doublecross, to the surprise of his old buddy Repugnus, and White Leo explains that the Monsterbot has been Tigerburn's puppet ever since the Laser Beasts cut his head off, removing his sense of self. Furthermore, Tigerburn reveals that he's modified his body to become completely robotic, used Legends technology to become a Headmaster in order to combine with Doublecross's body, and acquired the most powerful Laser Beast weapon, the Haywire Laser.

Unrelated to the above, I forgot to add that the Sixshot comic has the first ever appearance of the small figure that normally stays inside Saber, but I guess they just call by his name instead of Brain of Courage.

White Leo can do nothing but flee from the powered-up Tigerburn, but his younger sister, White Lune, appears before him with Doublecross's severed head and a plan: if the Three Wise Ones once used the jewels to create the Beastformers by giving machines to animals, they should be able to use them to evolve further alongside machines. The jewels emit a light that sucks in the Haywire Laser and merges it with White Lune, who transforms into a robot and knocks Tigerburn's block off. White Leo himself is merged with Doublecross's head, allowing him to transform into it and combine with Doublecross, whose mind(s) is restored in the process. Doublecross and White Lune blow Tigerburn back into his own dimension with a Spark Fire Attack, after which the siblings prepare to return and continue the war back home, but first they stop to apologize to the Legends locals for forcing them to become Beastformers. Upset, Rattrap and Tigatron tell them to consider how things would be if their roles were reverse: how would the Beastformers like it if they were forced to wear nothing but neckties and work as office workers? White Leo and Lune agree that it would be awful.

LG 52: Misfire

The buildings in Neo Akihabara City are being bought up one by one by Misfire, whose luck in gambling and the stock market has made him filthy rich. When the 'bot himself appears, throwing money around and demanding to be called "Perfectfire" from now on, Triggerhappy refuses to believe someone as unlucky and prone to missing as him could pull this off. Hot Rod and Shaoshao Li are also suspicious, especially given the presence of Misfire's Targetmaster partner, Aimless, and that night they sneak into Misfire's purchased Trypticon to investigate. Misfire catches them and fires Aimless at Hot Rod, but instead hits Shaoshao, transforming her into an infant! He reveals that Aimless's mutant ability is to shoot through time itself, allowing him to see into the future and get rich, which in turn has afforded him a transtector that he combines with.

Misfire blasts a hole into the future in order to predict how Hot Rod will move, making it impossible for the Autobot to dodge his attacks... but is somehow so bad at aiming that even knowing the future, he fails to hit a completely still Hot Rod and instead ends up blasting all the stuff he's bought, which disappears to when-knows-where. Hot Rod punches his head off and demands he restore Shaoshao to normal, only for Misfire to miss again and hit Hot Rod, "aging" him into Rodimus Prime. Everything is eventually cleared up and Misfire and Aimless are arrested, though Shaoshao is mad at Hot Rod for not making her younger when he had the chance. Unfortunately, the officer supposed to interrogate Misfire is Triggerhappy, who starts teaching his old comrade how to aim instead.

Misfire not being able to aim was not something his Japanese counterpart was known for, or did. Him and Triggerhappy were essentially named grunts that worked with Slugslinger (who got to do most of the talking), but they were considered professionas (like the Autobot Targetmasters), so his horrible aim is a massive retcon.

To the surprise of fucking no one, Takara Broadside is better:

-Panels for the ship mode are almost all molded in gray instead of painted, so you can put figures on the tiny pegs without worrying so much about paint rub.
-Wings are grey, so the wing tips are also molded in gray.

So hilariously enough, Takara Broadside is easier to play with than the Hasbro who's a paint rub, and sticker fest nightmare.

Haven't had much time to play with this guy, but he's amazing. Possibly almost perfect. I like him better than Triggerhappy, even though his transformation isn't quite as fun and he lacks the wrist-lasers, his arms are less encumbered and I find him more fun to pose.

And holy shit I wish my camera could convey just how intoxicating his shade of pink is. It's amazing. Combined with Aimless' baby blue, these guys are the fucking sassiest Decepticons around.

In Japan the TF Movie took place in 2005, but the events of Season took place in 2010. They already made so that daniel was put in cryo stasis for a few years due to an accident to explain that away. That's not Pipes. At least a Bumblebee redeco is still identifiable as Cliffjumper. I mean, the only reason you don't think it's Cliffjumper is because it was Bumblebee first. If, for some reason the mold was released as Cliffjumper first, you'd have no point of reference to say it's wrong. G1 Cliffjumper is a red sports coupe, which means that the Generations toys CJ has got are more accurate to him than they are to Bee.

Pipes has literally not gotten a toy that looks anything like his G1 self since G1. His only generations toy is Optimus Prime's body with huffer's head.

There's two tiers of G1 characters

There's the season 1 cast of characters that are the most well-known characters of the series. This extends into the movie and arguably a few episodes of season 3. Most people remember these characters with the exception of small time characters like Windcharger, Huffer, Grapple and Hoist.

Then you have the later G1 characters, like late-season 3, japan-only characters and toy-only characters who never appeared in animation like Power Masters and Pretenders. Most people never give much thought to these characters largely because there's not even Hasbro gives them proper coverage.

Pipes is in the latter category.

Yeah but Bumblebee is usually a curvy vehicle while Cliffjumper is a boxier shape. And if we compare the porsche he was based on with the hatchbacks we've gotten Bumblebee as, the porsche was a vertically shorter vehicle. He's somewhere between Windcharger and Bee's frame shape, and if they did make him there'd be an incredibly easy Searchlight remold waiting to happen.

If you want the best and most up to date version and don't mind spending a little more than you probably should on it then the 3P in pic related is basically a fully upgraded remake with extra articulation and removable kibble, you can usually find it on Ebay for around ~55 USD or so. If not then you can probably get the Classics for about 30, maybe significantly less if you search well enough in BST groups. Either way, I strongly recommend getting at least one version of this mold, he's just an absolutely gorgeous as a display piece.

Well I have simpler taste, if I can recognize the base design I can excuse most of the issues, case in point I like the current tr galvatron as much as the deluxe generations version, difference between the 2 is I actually went and painted the face of the tr, the generations is still stock, I like my galvatrons and only way to stop is an mp comes out, meanwhile the energon while I heard its not bad its just not recognizable to me.

My red green only affects the general tone meaning shades may look the same next to each other or may not be quite the same as everyone else, I can still see stuff like pre-shading but depends on intensity (up close I can see it from a far its blends, but if I see it from afar you shaded too fucking hard).

I'd say to your last question would be my mentioned galvatrons, both my tr and lg sixshots (the chest green on the tr especially, looks green as hell but some shots make it look blue I swear) and mp shockwave (that said with mp shockwave I noticed the diecast parts are painted and if the whole figure was painted in that same shade perhaps others would like him better, apart from the whole mp36 madness)

I hope that answers that, if not try re-wording it, half asleep just waiting on stuff

Eh it could work but the porche in question might be a nudge smaller than sideswipe and it'll just be strange, 3p's have done it before, I'll call insanity if takara skips the licencing and just makes it chibi

I've said it before, the beetle has a reputation for being a small car, but compared to the european/Japanese sports/super cars that most Transformers are, a Beetle is actually not so tiny.

I know the perspective is messing with it here, but a Beetle is still longer, wider, and much taller than a Lancia Stratos.
