Not OP, that's just the nature of 3d printed parts because each layer pretty much juts out, increasing friction, increasing wear. It's like rubbing sandpaper together in a way. An epoxy coating can help if done right, but then you have to make it smaller to account for it

with the usage the friction problem is decreasing, the problem is a plastic tip when the printer finish the shoulder, I have the idea of creating a 3D printed polish tool so the user can detail that part.

yes you cound find a printer with a very good resolution, find the optimal settings but finally you gonna need some treatment to remove the printing patterns in the ending layers also depends on the material I am currently using PLA.

Well personally I'm indifferent to the surface textures, I'm just interested in a good smooth joint that holds position under a few grams of burden. Ideally these would be skeleton armatures that the custom scene sculpts over, so the rough texture would be invisible but actually also help the sculpting process by providing more grip.
Overall it's genius for customizers providing the joints are up to par with mold injected figma joints, that's all that really matters.

I think once you're finished with the model you can make a resin copy of it. It could last longer. To make the mold and what not will cost about $90

It can do full split, the problem is the forward bend but I think I can fix it making a narrower pelvis zone giving more room to the legs.

I'm not sure if the belly-hips conection is the best, same can be said for the upper body

nice to see someone experimenting and creating his own custom stuff with 3d printers, I want to see how the project evolve

But seriously I'm looking into this myself, there are some cute things on Thingiverse to build but I'm really wondering just how far one can get for customs with a base body (think nendo/figma) ESPECIALLY when you jam some ABS filament in there.

Like pic related the market's ripe for more designs.

how to make some ca$h:

1-make a good base (the most important step)
2-make some muscled, thicc and extra thicc bodies
3-make some anthro custom pieces like heads and tails (they have ca$h)

I would probably look into Hot Toys, they invented their PERS eyeball system before Revoltech ever used poseable eyes.

I wouldn't worry too much about joint patents, by the time there's a sound, upholding law surrounding 3D printed toys/figures I'd start to worry. 'till then, share your work behind a proxy and keep stuff unsigned for that true, open-source spirit!!

I am using FreeCAD, the only I can complain its that some times goes very slow when you cut and join complex shapes

I prefer the Boss Fight Blanks, it looks more natural than that messy joints, yes you have a lot of movement but I cant unsee all those joints, it looks more like a manekim body than a human one (that's also why I dont like too much most Japanese figures like Figma)

have you tried making importing a basemesh from Designdoll? you only have to boolean difference the parts where joints would be.

import your model to your favorite 3d program then select the model that will be hollowed by the joints, followed by the 3d model of the joint that will hollow the part.

then, ta da! the part is now hollowed. you might have to fix the n-gons and non quad faces. but it is easy with quad-draw (quadrangualate sucks shit so dont use it)

If I were to get one I'd like the option of a less 'moe' head, with a slightly more realistic nose with nostrils. Like the M3 Venus head by Utilizator on Second Life vs his other heads.
