These guys on the other hand look like they have some potential for fun. I love heads that have "decorative" backs yet you can still use them as robotic faces, like Zanes robot head. It still bums me out that when Nexo finally made blue eyed little robots they weren't double sided like the orange eyes.

I liked year 1 better for the brick build badguys and the color scheme. The people saying the theme has gone downhill since year 1 and using globlins as evidence are retarded. Printed technic ball pieces are objectively bad.

I consider year 2 a step back, but individually some of the baddies were better than year 1, the harpy, gargoyle, rogul, lord krackenskull and bricksters were all well done and way better than beastmaster for example. They did really over do it with the use of basic stonestompers. I think they missed the mark with the 3 brothers' vehicle, hellhole and colossus.

I like the year 3 generic baddies, the new pieces they got are awesome. The named minifigs are a big letdown. I honestly can't say I like the cyberbyters over bricksters. I don't care if it fits the show's story. Getting identical 'infected' squirebots is dumb, especially when the vanbyters/cyberbyters are pretty much identical.

Lava guys WERE fun for making demon armies. I can understand how the stone army presents a less intrinsically useful series of raw parts. The cyborg vampires are a similar niche at first glance but honestly they have far more potential from making The Borg (albeit with fangs) to using them as a generic space faction.

I'm with you so far, but I really hope we get a 2nd wave to balance things out. At this rate they would struggle to cobble together 3 unique-ish figs for an army builder pack. I am really hoping that they held back for tv show plot reasons because of the early release. They really have an opportunity with tech infection themed enemies in a sci-fi tech world. I'm very excited to see what brick build robots or mechs they come out with.

If you happen to be in Detroit Lakes, check out The Toy Finders. I go there every time I'm in town. Their upper floor is crammed with toys, but their basement is all klocki, sorted by type. Prices are sometimes a bit higher than cracklink and the pieces are usually dirty, but you can often find pieces a lot cheaper there and you get the immediate visceral pleasure of not having to wait for it to ship to you.

Year two had some inspired minifigures. I think my biggest issue was the lack of recolored Scurriers. Year 3 isn't so cool, but I do appreciate the fact that I can acquire a majority of the important villain variations and net a bunch of black and trans-bright green parts buying just two sets.

The minifigs' legs are a bit loose, not so bad they can't hold a pose though. The little robot sucks. Aside from that, it's all quite decent, with good printing and parts fit, and a bunch of parts in interesting colors like the trans-blue unicorn horns and second-wave armor in pearl gold.

Axl's torso comes in two parts. The top's designed to slide onto the neck peg, so it will take a standard stud or technic pin connection.

The fingers in pic related aren't quite how I like them. I prefer a gap that is the length of a minifig torso so you can slot them into the hand for a better grip, so really just use the original arm but use different fingers.

not entirely for me? I played the absolute shit out lego when i was a kid all the time.
Then after my dark age i started doing it more and more to almost the same level now.
The only thing that changed is that i'm a more skilled builder and have more knowledge of pieces created throughout the years. Comparing the childlike wonder then to my massive nostalgia now is tough too.

It's different, but actually exactly the same if that makes sense.

Like green lantern batmans for every lantern color. Lego can't compete with that. They have to do things legally and that would never get approved. I think you're getting caught up in being technically correct that one of the pieces isn't direct competition and missing the obvious point that they are bootlegging. You're argument is like if I said a bootlegged movie wasn't directly competing because the DVD doesn't have my shaky movie theater camera adding to the drama or my added commentary. Sure some people might buy the bootlegs for the exclusive color, but I have to think the price helps. But for what it is worth, I wasn't seeing it so much as the color offered but rather the torso was different, and in a way I assume cannot be heresied with the actual Lego item. I believe there is a regular torso inside the Axl torso piece, but it is fused in there somehow. People in other forums have claimed to have gotten it out, but the regular torso wasn't fully printed or usable. I'm not sure how usable the bigger part would be, but presumably about the same as a bootleg based off of it.

This is such a load of bullshit, considering that the factories run 24/7 and it would take several hours to switch out the molds. For all the posts claiming that bootlego is produced in actual Lego factories with actual Lego molds, nobody can post a picture of a bootlego with the Lego logo.

Not denying the fact that the Chinese are copying pieces at a higher rate than before Lego moved its production to China, just the wrong statement that they're using actual Lego molds and plastic to do so.

We talked about the problems Lego is going through... was it last thread or the thread before? They've been blaming themselves for poor market strategy and overextending themselves rather than bootlegs, though. I mean they've had to deal with competition for ages. Their patent expired in '78 though they kept trying to push it as a trademark until that fell through opening up the market for competitors to now make "Lego compatible" products. I bought the City one last year but opened them the "official" way. Every night the family would open another and add to the little Lego Christmas display we make every year. A reseller buys 1 set and parts it out to 7 people who only want certain parts from that set.

So Lego only sells 1 set instead of selling 7. The internet and online resellers are a direct threat to Lego. People should just buy the set for the few parts they want and store the rest only in official Lego™ bins bought direct from The Lego Group™. Anything else is the slow but steady death of Lego™. Also people who buy sets at less than full price. Never buy at set on sale or clearance, you are also killing Lego™.

It's stupid. If someone wants to buy a single part they can't get otherwise then I don't care who provides it. Good luck to them for actually finding what they want.

Now I'm not saying I agree with this argument, in fact quite the opposite. I find the entire thing silly. I cannot fathom that anyone buying bootleg, as suggested by this thread, is exclusively buying bootleg and not still buying a ton of Lego. It's just a part they cannot otherwise find. We can't even say that someone who isn't spending money on that bootleg item would otherwise have spent it on Lego. In fact buying one bootleg item may lead to buying more Lego for whatever project they have in mind, if it's indeed only about acquiring the parts they can't otherwise obtain. From what I've seen of the bootleg community, I would say that the majority of the people in Asia who buy bootlegs buy them because they are cheaper, and the majority of the people in the west who buy bootlegs buy them because they do things that Lego is either unwilling or unable to make. The main reason that the current "bootleg craze" took off is because they started copying customisers instead of just Lego.

Bricks would be easier IMO, but if you did it with tiles, you'd get a better ability to do patterns on the walls. Most likely lay them on a larger plate and support that just at the bottom...

My suggestion would be moccing up just the facade you want in stud.io or LDD. Easy enough to just make walls and shit. That'll give you an idea, and you can play with color patterns too.

Not hardcover, but according to the website, they're printed on heavy glossy paper and spiral-bound so you can lay them out easier.

i bought the reprint of rogue trader on the forgeworld sales booth a few weeks ago, it's a nice big hardcover book on thick glossy paper for €46,-. so i think $60,- for a spiral bound something sounds a bit excessive

maybe if you're really into lego it can be worth it. but on the other side, i do some online selling and sometimes i have left over bricks when i complete sets from scratch, most of the time i just collect them untill there's enough to sell it in one go but in the between time is sometimes build things (because lego is always fun) i think i can build that blockhouse and tank fairly easy if i have enough parts

No. Given just how many cops there are in the Lego world, I'd say policing of firearm laws would fall under the jurisdiction of the regular police. Right now it's this

This is the beginnings of the 'Fortune's Ruin Cantina'.
I intend to extend the court yard out onto 2x2 32x32 green baseplates. I'll then modify the main buildings walls as I extend them out to cover the 64 stud width, widening the steps as I do by a couple of studs. Other then some minor little fix ups, I'm happy with the door. Then I'll add smaller, but removable walls, along with an arched gate, to enclose it all.
Then I'll build the interior.
Not sure yet whether I'll build it so that it connects to the front door, or build it so that it just looks like it connects to the front door.
Either way I intend for the interior to have a main floor, with tables and a bar, as well as booths sunken into the "back walls" (à la Mos Eisley Cantina) and a stage at the end of the room. There will be an open wall, so that I can access it, on what would be the right hand side (if you entered through the front door). On the "left" side, above the in-wall booths, will be a balcony/walkway with small doors. These doors will be just for show (however I may make them able to open, for effect). I'll then make more small sets that will represent the boarding rooms that these doors lead too, as well as a kitchen and owners office that will have their own doors on the ground floor, behind the bar.

I don't expect to be finished this anytime soon.

Okay so basically Olivia has this dream of owning her own smoothie stand. Problem is smoothies taste like shit and nobody in Heartlake will go near the place. In comes Stephanie who has this great idea to raise money to save the business by selling their own bodies under the guise of a normal, everyday smoothie shop. Problem is their first customer, Robert, likes it really rough. Riding crop and bridle stuff. Stephanie panicked and hit him over the head with a shovel. Fortunately Mia knows a thing or two about discretely disposing of a body because of her work with Sophie at the Heartlake animal hospital where it turned out Mia is a true lover of animals but shit at caring for them. So basically they bury Robert under the stable housing his horse Major.

It's actually a two-parter with the second half featuring a tie-in via a guest appearance from Chase McCain who was investigating Robert's mysterious disappearance. This was actually a marketing scheme from The Lego Group to turn little boys gay to bolster the sales of the Friends line while simultaneously introducing the normal City police state into Friends - a total win-win for Lego.

Quick question, what happens to BL orders that are marked as pending for a long period of time?

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some stuff from a seller. A week later and it arrived in the post, but the order on BL was still marked as "Pending".
That was just over a week ago and it's still marked as "Pending".

Will BL notice and try and take action if the seller doesn't change it to shipped, so that I can mark it as "Complete". I've left feedback.

It was a big Bionicle villain concept.
The general idea was to run a non-lego tube through the larger tube and make some kind of squirt gun contraption in the body using technic and a non-lego bag of whatever liquid to essentially make it look like he spits acid.
I drew a really rough concept about a year or two ago, but the idea never really took off. Maybe I'll start it eventually.

Either message the seller and ask them to fix it or just ignore it. Nothing bad will happen and it will be purged from your list of recent orders after 180 days.

This damn thing, built when I was 16 and hadn't yet discovered Bricklink. So many trips to the Lego store for white 2x4 bricks, and at least 3 purchases of the same snail droid set with jetpack troopers.

I took it all the way to Brickworld, all plastic wrapped in segments on carry-on for the flight there. Figured fuck it on the way back and just put everything in regular luggage, goddamn thing looked like Hiroshima when I got home. Haven't built anything so large since.

For Turalyon: Yeah the golden warrior torso can make a good job but You can also try some combo with Mark 39 Iron Man suit because of the white parts. As for head, I would go for sea captain from minifigures series.

Arm could be replaced with the CMF Monster Scientist

Legs could be replaced with the Storm Trooper from the 2013 Advent Calendar.

The golden arm is presumably a nod to the comic version as it's not movie accurate.

Yeah, the Lego Store build-a-minifig bin often has piles of pieces that are hard to get cheaply otherwise. When I went there this summer I got three CMF S1 nurse torsos that were something like $4-5 each on cracklink.
