Bring Arts has been pretty solid and priced pretty reasonably. I mean even PAK were pretty solid after they got rid of peanut knees and fixed their atrocious quality control. They just raised prices too damn much and it was in a dumb fuck scale that wasn't even consistent within the PAK line itself.

Bring Arts is what PAK should have been in the first place IMO. I think the only reason they are going to this new smaller scale is they realize factory prices have gone up so much that PAK being $150-250+ is just not realistic anymore.

It was a failure on my part. I was quick to post about my knee-jerk reaction. How often do painted prototypes look worse than mass produced models though? I question the people calling this a "solid line" if it's just started. The history of PAKs and SE's other figures don't inspire confidence, and unless I've missed some PR where SE acknowledges their past shit, why should I expect that a lasting lesson has been learned?

I'd say that's the case for the majority of revoltechs with human faces or SH Figuarts with intricate paint details actually.

I really hope this means more then just "VIII will also get figures". I'm optimistic though, I would love a figure of these two more then anything from this line but I look forward to whatever we get. DQ has been a series that could use figures for a long time.

It's really too early to say either way. Sora was fine, but the rest are all just prototypes right now. 2B's hair is awful, but otherwise seems fine. The machine lifeforms looks pretty good, and Bahamut and Odin look great. But who knows how any of those will translate to the finished product. 2B's hair could get fixed, and Bahamut could end up a floppy mess with terrible paint. Until some of these hit shelves, it's all based off just Sora. Might as well be just a hypothetical.

Bring Arts would be perfectly acceptable if it was going to be a $30 figure line. But they are charging more than basically every other japanese figure line for noticeably worse quality. I get that they don't have the pull a company like bandai does to manufacture stuff so cheaply, but shit, for $70 they need to step it up a little.

For what 2B and the machine 2 pack come with, they're a better value than most Japanese lines. Sora less so, and I agree that the quality should be better, but this isn't even close to figma levels of price gouging.

The line is pretty fucked right now with the current release status of exclusives versus general retail SAS. We just have to wait and see if the paint quality is going to become worse with SAS BIG, RWBY, and WF Valentine and Johnny coming this winter.

it's going to come out looking a lot softer than that, unfortunately. I'm not sure what it is and if they're using different production companies or what else it is inbetween prototype and production, but halfway through the Berserk releases honestly I noticed a dip in quality for the more "realistic" figmas. I think Pyramid Head and Nurse came out well because they are both supposed to look like mushed meat in parts and their paintjob helps cover it up but this one I'm going to wait it out.

I don't think Gyro was that bad but he was WF exclusive and definitely overpriced at like 7000 yen. Most fans weren't able to get one and he's pretty expensive and rare on the aftermarket. Combine that with the rest of the line being WF exclusive and equally expensive and you can see why everyone is rightfully pissed.

You have to see honestly, Gyro is a bit of a case where exclusivity hurts a lot but then you start to see in-hand and reviewer pics come in and combined with Medicos's track record of solid paint apps made this particular release really hurt. Especially for SBR fans. I love his character and getting him off sites like Mandarake and YAJ isn't an impossible feat but Medicos did not give him such a solid treatment in the paint department when compared to the older stuff, especially for a limited event exclusive release.

i don't know, i think the Bloodborne hunter looks really nice

if they achieve this level of detail, considering it will be the clean shiny black knight armor with the silver highlights from DS3, i think it will be good

It's being done by a different scuplt/paint company (monolith) and that's why it looks so different/better.

Kiryu and Snake were done by the same people (MAX Factory).

I think both figures have something going for them, honestly. The Figuarts is a lot more aesthetically pleasing, definitely. It looks spot-on to the art style. But it leaves a lot to be desired with its articulation.

The Bring Arts articulation isn't hidden as well, and it doesn't look as close to either in-game or official art of Sora. But by not hiding the articulation as well, it's more functional. The only thing it really needs for articulation that the SHF has over it is toe hinges.
