similar to how some people collect vinyl because its the equivalent of physically having a tangible piece of music. its the same for toys, its having a physical, interactive representation of something we like

Hello. I am also on /toy/ for a while.
As the other anon said, its partly having a physical manifestation of favorite character or IPs. For some its also a live of the art of toy making, or a way to support an IP you like. Maybe its just that you never stopped loving toys. There are many reasons.

I also collect Lego and use it to build stuff as a creative outlet. There's some awesome stuff you can do with it, just google "lego moc" for some examples if you like.

Personally the appeal is being able to pose them in hilarious scenes. Sure you could just draw or 3d model the same thing but it's, you know, physical.
