Camera, lightboxes, graphics software, etc, are all fine tools, but that's all they are. Tools. Which you MUST know how to use to produce good work.
I'd recommend you look up photography tutorials.(Miniatures, toys, dolls, insects/small animals, etc to give you an idea on how to work with small scales.)
