Nerf Elites is generally considered the baseline for performance. Nerf Elite darts are crap. There's the new Accustrike darts as well as plenty of 3rd party darts that are more aerodynamically stable. So that would be one of your first purchases if you want to be competitive.
Rivals are better in most ways, but they are targeted at an older crowd for more competitive play.
MEGA is just to goof around with. They aren't better in any way over Nerf Elites. They're just fun to use. Unless you mod them to shoot Elite darts. Then they can be monsters.
