>>6678230Minimates are basically Lego mini-figures but 100% licensed characters PLUS bigger/more articulate than the average Lego figure.
They debuted in the early 00s, back when Lego didn't have the Marvel license and largely exist off of prividing mini-figures for shit that will NEVER get a Lego set (IE Predator, Aliens, Pulp Fiction, The Kevin Smith Cinematic Universe, Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica). Their main license is Marvel and have, in their own way, produced a ton of figures for themselves, with a lot of character/team rosters who STILL don't have proper 3 3/4th or 6 inch representation in any shape or form (case in point, the Australian era X-Men, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants/Freedom Force).
A lot of the figures have a TON of accessories which they can hold and stuff.
They basically are a legit alternative to Lego, especially since (as mentioned beforehand) they have a ton of characters/licenses that Lego will never touch with a ten foot pole
