From there, America goes manifesting destiny with said blimps and lasers, but since all the big factories are in Europe and the east coast is still fucked to shit, anyone travelling west needs to be able to repair all their gear on the fly(literally) but since you're actively moving farther from any supply sources you have to patch shit together with whatever you can find.
