So I'm just getting into the line now (I have Jonathan and part 1 Dio coming in the post now), is it worth collecting any further as far as the figures being worth what I'm paying for? The line seems pretty dead so I don't imagine I can just wait for 2.0's or re-releases like I would with SHF stuff

The figures still hold up (barring stuff like Part 3 Polnareff and the original Old Joseph) and are worth collecting if you like the source material or like the designs in general. I doubt Medicos will ever pull through on 2.0 plans for older SAS so you're stuck with the stuff that's well discontinued (reissues only ever come for SAS 1st colorways whereas 2nd and 3rd's are essentially aftermarket now). I recommend just watching some listings until reasonable prices come and not when they spike like Star Platinum 3rd did when he was cheap for 3k and jumped to 9k.

Not to mention Medicos is the only maker that ever went this far with JoJo so your options are pretty much set with this, those old terrible statues from way back, and Medicos branch of statue figures, Di Molto Bene, which always struck me as mediocre looking. I'd say collect them, the paint on the older stuff is top notch and there is some choice colorways like Killer Queen and Josuke Limited ver.

If you want to try the non-Jojo stuff, that's far more limited but stuff like Ajin and Shinichi are probably Medico's most interesting picks. Not too sure on the Kinnikumen SAS since SHF practically dominates that field now.

Welcome new friend! There really is no in between with these figures, either they’re super common or very exclusive and pricey. Part 5 figures are definitley more bang for your buck. Look amazing, still very affordable, and come with a lot of accessories. Part 2 is super pricey, except for Joseph 1st and Caesar 2nd, but they’re still great figures. Joseph 2nd is actually my favorite of the whole line but good luck finding him for a reasonable price. Part 6 is great overall but both Jolyne releases and Stone Free are very expensive. There’s controversey surrounding the part 7 releases and part 8 seems pretty dismal unfortunately.
Best deals are on YAJ. Use a proxy and look for bundles. Good luck!

Oh. And part 4 is amazing as well. You can find both releases of Josuke and CD for good prices, and Koichi and Rohan. Kira 2nd, KQ 2nd and 3rd, and Oku 1st are the most saught after of the line. So finding them for cheap will be tough.

This. Part 5 and 6 figures are still easy to find, and they are good looking figures compared to the Stardust Crusaders trash Medicos made back in the day.. I'm not even a big fan of Vento Aureo, and i'm proud to have figures as good looking as Mista and Diavolo in my collection. They may look fruity as fuck to some people, but those people just don't understand the culture of the Italian mafia.

If nothing else, get part 2 Joseph. I don't think anyone can argue that he's the best figure in this line. He also comes with a ton of accessories like the clackers, hammer and crossbow. He's easy to find too, so don't let that beautiful bastard pass you by.

If you only want JoJos and main villains I would say it is worth it.
If you are going for sidekicks as well certain parts have some extremely glaring omissions that hurt that kind of display.

I hear you about part 4 jotaro too. Personally I think it's his white clothing that grabs me the wrong way. I'm still a little annoyed Medicos couldn't make part 6 Jotaro and FF when they went so all-out on the part 5 cast. To the point where even a villain of the week is getting made now.

Overall this has the nicest paint job and build quality i have ever seen on a sas which you would hope for considering the price of him. all the joints feel super sturdy and hold their poses well i can’t wait for jotaro if he’s going to be anything like star platinum.

Well shit, I just noticed the new boots. Man, those fuckers REALLY stick out, especially with the bright pink on purple color scheme. Not a fan of the look of the boots themselves either, much prefer the little ankle booties on the original SAS. This is probably more accurate or some shit, I just don't like it as much.

Honestly S&W never really struck me like that if anything, I just wish Medicos can pick up things like before and get creative with colors since S&W isn't going to win much in articulation. Design wise I really dig how robotic it is and how it translated into the SAS with those hand and head options.

Never because even though Medicos surpised me with White Snake's body printing I doubt even more effort will be made for a solidly multi-colored Soft and Wet which is a shame since that will pop out really well in a display.

I'm convinced they just give basic responses and never plug that as an actual suggestion whenever they need to recolor a figure. I just want to bet they pick some off the wall colorway when they revisit Jojolion but mostly I want more damn bubble effects but I know that's either a slim chance or they actually pull through out of the blue.

The orbicularis oris is basically completely unpronounced with the bottom lip. It needs to be fuller and have a more natural transition between the body of the lip and the surrounding area.

Looks fine, just twist the thigh. There are 4 Jotaros: 1, 1.5, 2nd, 3rd. 1's faces look like Michael Jackson, but is the only one with a grimacing face. Jotaro 1.5 came with a soundplate. Jotaro 2nd comes with replacement faces for Jotaro 1st though, if you don't care about the soundplate.

I made this quick ref when I was searching for a Jotaro to get.

Old Joe's knees will be fine. The part that breaks on that first version is the right hip.

It's a BITCH to fix. I had to cut off part of his crotch to remove the entire hip part.

I think the very picture you posted is a solid reason for why there's no SAS of him. Most of the posable figures are made in a way that lets you recreate iconic poses and moments from the series. Stroheim's most iconic moment is one when his jacket is flapping back, exposing a detailed cyborg body and the machine gun. There's a statue of that. A SAS figure with a "standard" form would have to include a swappable body plate/jacket combo or something and that's way too much work for a kind of secondary character from a Jojo part that's just, let's face it, less profitable. The anime was too long ago, the manga is pretty much history and the memes are getting weak. Which sucks since he is one of my faves, too but that's how it is.

Not saying it has since many figures were there before the anime aired. It just has no chance to affect it now whatsoever since the finished parts are pretty much complete in all kinds of major adaptations. Part 5 is TBA and all of a sudden Prosciutto, a monster-of-the-week kind of character from Part 5 is revealed to get a SAS. Coincidence? Who knows but it would be logical to assume that expecting a new wave of popularity might affect sales of part 5 characters, especially newly released ones. This is way less likely to happen with the older parts since they'll probably never have another big wave of mainstream attention ever again.

The only characters that are actually in scale with the SAS figures in that picture are Yuya, Highway Star and Mikitaka, the rest are giant compared to them. Even Shigetchi is too big and he's supposed to be hideous looking and out of scale with the rest of the cast.

Each Dio figure has its problems. The legs on the Part III on are damned hard to pose, but the Part I version has these weird suspenders that get in the way of torso articulation a bit. Technically speaking the Part I Dio goes better because he’s made to go better with Jonathan. The two important questions though: which one do you like better, and would you consider getting The World at some point?

Dio is my only part 3 figure and he's definitely the hardest to get a good pose out of from the 40 SAS I have. Face isn't great either. Still, I would never recommend not getting him, he's still good.

That's interesting. I have every SAS figure except for Purple Haze and Kiss, and I'd definitely put DIO in the top 5 in terms of poseability. I'd be curious to know which poses you're trying to replicate from the manga or the art books that you aren't able to; I can try and help you figure out how to do them. You can do a lot with the SAS figures, just takes some ingenuity.

Bruder Toys Asphalt drum compactor. With a scale of 1:16 it's quite a bit too small for SAS but perfect for smaller figures like mumi. Despite being nicely detailed these things are rather cheap, too. Thanks, german engineering.

Newfag from the start of the thread here, got my Jonathan and Dio Brando in. Gotta say Jonathan is a pretty fantastic figure, quickly becoming one of my favorites. Dio is... eh, not bad, the outfit seems like it was a difficult one to translate into figure form. The alternate neck with the veins definitely made the purchase worth it or me. Definitely going to delve more into the line now
Was thinking of getting some of the part 3 figures next (probably Kakyion or Dio first). Any QC issues I should be looking out for? I can only recall that the first Jotaro had bad faces and something about Old Joseph's legs

Yeah I had already seen the pictures of how Jonathan towers over his descendents. Pretty weird considering they're, for the most part, supposed to be the exact same height. It depends, if I want EMS (I think 2.5k for a standard single SAS but bigger boxes like the Pillarmen may increase it a little) it will cost more but arrive faster with 3 days being a standard in my area. Whereas RSAL I believe is around 1k or 1.5k but it should be your cheapest option with included tracking though it will take longer with a length of 2 weeks to a month for my area.

What were those bases that got posted a while back that can hold a ton of SAS figures? Didn't look them up then and not sure which thread they were in.

It was a black base with a ton of holes that fit the SAS pegs.

In a general sense you have those mini-chara figures but in terms of SAS I think Medicos just wanted to move on or felt they didn't need to add her, who knows how they exactly handle specific character releases.

Part 6 is one of the least popular parts and Medicos being Medicos decided to do virtually every other major character in the part except for her, the main villain's ultimate stand, and guaranteed seller Jotaro because they are really smart like that.

Just found out a way to swap the wrist pegs too just heat the arm up in boiling water then wrap a pair of plyers in some cloth and pull the wrist peg out of the arm with the plyers. I'll be sure to do it when I have the time. This'll be easy.

I (very wrongfully) thought the guy was taking advantage of past WF releases to troll us without a source (hence my saying the claim was out of the blue). As opposed to checking above first (like I should’ve), I asked for a source. Lesson of the day: always check the OP, and trust your fellow anon before a shit company like Medicos.

I also made the mistake of being in denial over the signs of Johnny being a WF exclusive from the beginning. Should’ve just accepted it upon seeing that February release date.

I love the series but artbooks and some of the crossover merch is a little more tempting. I was surprised to see a another Killer Queen tie from a different brand being put up on Mandarake and custom work would be a nicer thing to get into to finally get more specific colorways into my collection.
