I get that they're trying to emphasize that the trains are made of real wood but it just doesn't work for the Thomas trains. imo they should go for a fully authentic show look in terms of paint detail.

Again, why don't they just make the tracks and buildings plastic, and have them be shared between it and Track master, so that only the engines and rolling stock are wood? Maybe make the buildings be able to be taken apart and reconfigured into new structures. They can save alot of money that way.

you would be surprised. Most probably won't care without any exposure at all to what they use to look like, but plenty do show preference to more use of color. Mattel don't care about Thomas at all anymore. They cut 8 episodes off the current season (21) so they could funnel the resources into the around the world movie that will completely retool the show and doesn't fit with the Sodor-based adventures we've seen so far. I'm not calling it shit until I see it for myself, but it's clear Mattel doesn't give a shit what the fans think.

I found out there's a train store near me that sells wood Thomas sets. I'm hoping to find a wooden railway Percy or Diesel for about retail or cheaper. I've seen listings for them loose on ebay, but they're from china and the ones they used in the example pics look a bit scuffed up. I'm assuming they're factory rejects or something.

I think the general consensus is everyone hates it because they skimped on paint for a useless "visible wood" gimmick and the new track system prevents usage of third party rails unless you use adapters.

The only maybe good thing is, it's easier to use them for custom fodder when they go on clearance I guess.

Just read up on some things. Apparently, Thomas only had an HO line (really an OO Hornby knockoff) by Marklin. As for seasons 1-12, all else Marklin had in relation to the shows was that their parts are customized by the model train crew.

I went to the model train store the other day and relived some stuff I hadn't felt since childhood with my train sets. Made me really want to finally clean out our giant shed and get my trains but I will have to wait for warmer temperatures which makes me sad, honestly.

My current Thomas collection is everyone from Tidmouth Sheds, Duck, Toby, Victor, Kevin, Ryan, Hiro, Salty, and Diesel. I'm 50/50 on Mattel TWR Culdee who I've seen collecting dust at Barnes & Noble and Phillip and not sure who else I should track down.

Man this makes me sad, I remember when I was a kid I used to go nuts over Thomas, and Turned my whole bedroom into a tank engine village with so many wooden tracks it went out into the hallway and my parents told me to take it down.

I also remember my friend literally burrying me in wooden track slots because he dumped the whole box on me from top bunk. It actually kind of hurt.
