In addition, at its peak, Monster High was outselling Barbie which for some reason bothered Mattel execs and shareholders because nothing can outsell Barbie. So they watered it down under the guise that they were preparing Monster High for the "new generation" of kids, except they went against the original vision that all the characters were unique and had quirks. The dolls are now samey and boring. Even now, the new ballet dolls all more or less have the same outfit but with different colors and patterns for the top portion of the outfit. As for EAH, while it didn't sell as well as MH it wasn't doing terribly. They ended their contract with the animation company doing their movies and webisodes (which, IMO, were some of the best things about EAH). After they lost the Disney license to Hasbro, they watered down EAH to be their in-house princess line. Why don't you really know that? Because EAH isn't sold in stores anymore. You have to go to Amazon or Mattel's online store or, if you're lucky, TRU may still have some stuff. Those aren't worth it anymore either.
It sucks because I got into MH and EAH about a year and a half before they both went down the drain. Luckily I have my core EAH collection still intact so I'll be fine with that as well as the MH dolls I managed to snag. It just sucks because they honestly tanked their own lines which end up tanking even more because no one is interested in them anymore.
Only good thing that came out of G2 Monster High are the minis but apparently they're not making a Season 3 of them so I guess those are dead too.
