Bubbles play ground attack includes bubbles, Princess morebucks, and bubbles stuff animal octopus. There is a play play ground build with a slide and merry go round and a yellow Mech

Mojo jojo Set includes blossom buttercup mojo jojo and a unicorn. Mojo jojo is riding in a car and there are 2 stories possibly a jewelry store and a ice cream store and a remote controlled Mech

I don't remember much only that it mentioned that we'll get Ice creatures in 2018 and then egypt exploration subtheme or safari in 2019. And cryptid/alien(MIB style?) subthemes onto the City theme. The alien one could mean that they go to Mars?

Nice and cute. Cant greeble borg cube enough. An idea is to have more of the grating 1 x 2 tiles and see through half of them as much as possible, with transparent green underneath and light to bounce inside.

I think the raised plate underneath the greebling on each side makes it look too round and not cube-ish enough.

I suggest changing your interior build to drop all your greebling inward one plate toward the center.

Well, first, take a look at every single piece under the size of 2x2 studs. Pick the ones you like, put them together in weird position and you're done. There aren't much secrets to it other than pick whatever pieces you think would fit, and try as hard as you can not to repeat them. If you want to see new techniques, look at the instructions for star wars sets with lots of greebling or that have unique greebling, or just grab pieces you wouldn't normally use for this and mash them together, the only two things you need to care about for the pieces is they colour and size.
I've put together a small example that I'd consider an improvement over what you've done, it's fairly simple and most techniques are just copied from original designs, but I'm fairly certain you'd find it useful.

whatup /lg/ i'm a film student/amateur filmmaker. i'm going to step way back and make a brickfilm. this is what got me into filmmaking over a decade ago, and I wanted to make a wholesome homage that stands on its own. I am still in early pre-prod, just gathering material and concepts while I write. In about 5-6 months I'll be launching an Indiegogo campaign to fund it once the creative process is complete and I have a full blueprint to go off of.

I want to see what you guys consider the most important brickfilms. Ones that were early contributors, used the fact they were made with legos creatively, or anything that makes them really stand on their own. Bonus points for nice sets. Here's some curated picks of mine:

"The Magic Portal" by Lindsay Fleay in the mid to late 1980's (considered first brickfilm, also happens to be good)

"Lego Castle War" by Metomunc in 2007. This is just a great brickfilm. It is aware of the fact it's just made with legos so it has a nice irreverence, and is one of the earliest brickfilms to employ the miniature models and does so plentifully.

There are other great brickfilms from Oblong Pictures, early Keshen stuff etc but these were often "skits" rather than short films, and I'm focusing on the short film. I'll be rewatching the Lego Movie and finally getting around to Lego Batman. Despite the fact these are 99% computer animated, the animators pretty faithfully recreated the movement of a brickfilm.

As for things to ad to your list, check out Lego's mincraft short stories. They are nice. I also really enjoy pantsahat. He's doing stuff. There was also a Christian brickfilm that was like feature length if I'm not mistaken.

I like Pantsahat, mostly skits an recent ones used some third-party stuff. But most of his shots feel very lively, large and sprawling while totally maintaining the 80's town era sets feel. The jokes are often a little stupid, but also have that fun of 'this is a real living world, but totally Lego logic at the same time'.

Well, I bought it on New Years day. Built the first floor that day, which took a couple hours, built the second floor a few days later, and just built the third floor and roof today.

I'd say total, it took maybe 5 or 6 hours?

If you like the other Modulars, this is another great one. It isn't my favorite one (that would be the Parisian Restaurant) but this one is still pretty nice.

Honestly, I sold off all my other LEGO sets a year or so ago, and this was my first purchase getting back into LEGO. I can say that this one is sort of out of the aesthetic of most of the other Modulars (since I had maybe 5 or 6 of the other ones) which kind of bothers some people, but it doesn't bother me. Though, people seem to think the Modulars take a 1920s~1930s aesthetic, which is really only true of like, maybe 5 of the I feel.

If you buy one (or any) Modular, even as just a one-off centerpiece, I don't think you'll ever be disappointed.

Not perfect but decent. There's some flaws in the legs, visible if you look close, and the hair looks off but I don't have that part in real Lego to compare. I'll get a replacement on bricklink eventually.

Ahh cool. Thanks. I'll order it up tomorrow if I can't get to the LEGO store from here. It's a little over an hour from here but I'm in the NE where we just had that bad storm and its below 0' at the moment.

I own 4 Modulars but have 5 MOC Modulars. I also mod the existing ones I have. The Parisian Restaurant is also a fave of mine and added on to the patio dining which wraps around to the whole backside now. I've also Modded/Added to my Cinema. It has a back room for films on the 2nd floor and incorporated a stand alone business hot dog stand on the first.

I'd have to say the look and feel I get from these buildings IS from the 20's - 40's. A couple of my MOC have been in that time error. Think (Brownstone) design. They fit nicely into my city design.

I posted pics a while back late last Winter/Early Spring but I only build in the winter which it now is. So i'll be getting back into it.

I've never sold a set since my childhood and have enough to keep me happy for quite some time.

The Diner just had that nostalgic feel to it. If I had more room I build a massive drive in movie theater and make a ton of cars from the era.

I suppose so, but I still don't really think there's some universal aesthetic among all of them.

There's some that definitely just feel like they go together properly (always thought the Theater, Petshop, and Detective's Office went really well together. Similarly the Green Grocer and Parisian Restaurant went really well together, etc)

I feel like maybe this one fits decently with last year's Assembly Square, or something.

Cool to hear about the Modular mods, though. I like to leave them as-is, but I also liked to MOC my own modulars from the ground up.

Now that I'm back in, I'll probably do some of the MOCs I always wanted to, like a Library, or maybe get back to the Sushi Restaurant I had kind of started.

See I think even the Green Grocer had that same old school feel to it. When I first saw it I thought of Haymarket Square in Boston and went, "Yea, I need that one too." I haven't pulled the trigger on Assembly Square because I think that one if any does NOT have the same feel to it.

I have some older MOCs from 20 years ago that were boxed up. I dug those out last week (A McDonalds and a Shell gas station / full service Car Wash) These were created long before LEGO made Modulars. They won't fit in with my current theme but go nicely together on their own. And with all the new pieces out today I'm going to MOD my own MOCs 20+ years later.

I ended up paying about $55 CAD for it. There was a sale for 25% off all LEGO sets which I assumed was only for the more modern stuff, but after talking to one of the guys at the store about classic sets n shit, he let me take the discount for this one.

The mandibles are too close together. They're supposed to tangent straight off the circle of the main hull, but the angle's been pulled toward the middle. This is why it looks weird, and I'm hoping against hope it gets fixed before release.

There’s no official models because the chrome pieces would cost to much to make them genuinely scratch resistant. Also genuine chrome wouldn’t pase their safety standards. The only affordable option is to use the old chrome paint but that scratched off too easily.

Yeah, that's one someone made.

There was another official one that came in the 4502 x-wing set. pic related. It was smaller but had a more pleasant round shape with a neat printed top.

The other official one coming out later this year is >>6707425

I missed out on the first one so I'm hoping on taking the new one and making it into a nicer recreation.

I wholeheartedly recommend those blank figs.
Got some transparent and flesh-colored ones, unlike those other brands like Sheng Yuan and Decool they feel and look identical to real Lego. I am still hesistant about changing out hands and arms but the torso leg connection or torso head are really good.
Finally after all those years I can have naked fleshies.

So when I first looked at that Moloch minifig I thought the dress/skirt might be a new piece, because it looked like it was the same height as the legs on the other fig, but dismissed it as wishful thinking.

But now looking at some of the other leaked pics, I've noticed there seems to be a few figures with sloped skirt pieces for legs...

And now on closer inspection, it does look like it's a new piece.

That's exactly the point. It's beyond unnecessary. Not only are they tarnishing the images of Han and Lando by casting someone who can't act as Han and a literal meme as Lando, they're also removing so much of the mystery around the characters and events mentioned in the OT just so they can have that cheap cash grab of "come see how Han got the Falcon from Lando! Remember Empire Strikes Back? Remember how Lando said Han stole the Falcon from him? REMEMBER STAR WARS?!?!?"

I mean don't get me wrong, it could easily be a massively charming, stylish, and memorable film on its own merits, and God I hope it will be, but given everything we know about the movie's production and Disney's current track record with Star Wars, I wouldn't count on it.

This. And my niggest issue is why does almost everything we know about Han, Chewie, and Lando need to happen all at once? It's not just Han meeting Chewie and getting the Falcon. It's also shit like Chewie getting his bowcaster (even though I swear he had it in RoS along with his trademark ammo belt) and I bet Han's debt owed to Jabba will appear in this film as well. Just because their entire history can work in one movie still just feels cheap to have 90% of what we've learned about them to all occur in one big event. It's just wrong.

Maybe the different sets weight different enough to tell with a micro scale.
I did that with Magic The Gathering boosters before. You can tell the difference between a pack with a foil and one without a foil with those scales. And there's tiny one's that you can bring to the store if you absolutely must.

You are right about that, really ridiculous. I am kind of amazed how they even remembered that the Falcon from the ROTS cameo had a slightly different design and color scheme. But even that was disregarded with the filled in space in the front.
I think the new Chewbacca figure is only different for a short part of the movie. I really don't get how Chewie looks like he has slicked his hair back when the costume from the logo in the corner looks like all the old OT costumes.

But I have to say, I never expected them to include so many good EU references after how they botched it with E7, 8 and the novels. Mimban, Corellian hounds (from SW:Galaxies), Imperial Army Troopers (hopefully that's what that Ground Crew Woman+Navy helmet is supposed to be), Pykes and my favorite: that flop-eared hat of Pao returning which was used by 60% of all scum and gangsters in 90s comics like Dark Empire or the Boba Fett ones.

I always liked the big rubber shooters. They felt like a proper cannon relative to minifigs. The original Zamor launchers were the best for mechanizing since they could be fed with a tray of spheres instead of having to do it manually like the others. In recent times, the new spring launchers are my top pick. They’re more compact than the old rubber ones, but have a similar feel.

The flick fire were always my favourites for some reason, and I think they look good enough in some sets, which is something that doesn't happen with most of the other shooters. The worst definitely is the Barraki one. Complete trash.

How does this compare to the last Imperial TIE?
I cant deny i was hoping for an Interceptor, or better yet a Bomber.

Getting a new T-65 later this year will be nice, especially if it comes with Red Leader. I have the last T-65 set they made that i happened to find in a walmart last year for 35 bucks so i lucked out on that, but i was looking at it and thinking i wanted to recolor it as Blue Squadron, but to get another if way more expensive than i was wanting to spend.

So maybe i'll ust get two of the new set later this year and recolor one of them?

Still debating if i should get last year's A-Wing or not.

IMO looks less detailed. Wing panels are made with usual plates with studs, no smooth surfaces, no small touches (like binoculars) . Cockpit looks more blocky too.

The modules are based off designs from BrickQuest: floor modules with wall sections that attach with technic pin bricks, fairly simple stuff. Though it can be delicate, since I’m a cheap man and built them with the minimum bricks nessecary.

Yeah, while nothing beats the rubber tipped "Competition Shooter," Flick fires are pretty ingenious for what they are.
I mean, we use to just have stud-ended axles that you had to flick out of a technic pin-hole.

I recently bought dark souls 3 so I super want to make the next round that same style of dark fantasy
I think multiple floors would be fairly easy if you just have separate maps and stair case doors, but building it in multiple floors would be awesome

In Lego City no one knows your name.
