It's NuKirk (or at least his actor, or more specifically another character played by Chris Pine) sitting in the captains chair on the bridge of the Enterprise-D, with a display of the original Enterprise.
Or is it that in the Nav (that is the nav console isn't it) is Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up and normally Chekhov sits in that seat and in the new series Chekhov was played by Anton Yelchin who was a bit of a baby face/looked like a young boy and now he'll be that way forever/never grow up?
