These 2 are nice, but I wish they'd have a variety from Twilight Princess or other Zelda games besides just Link

Lack of popularity probably, I would love some Figma villains from Zelda, but if they didn’t do jpop idol & nice bod booby witch from Hyrule warriors I doubt they will do any more outside of Link or Zelda. Shame really, I really want a Skullkid in figma form.

After I posted I thought of that, a TP Ganondorf would be awesome but it just seems like the window has passed... but Hyrule Warriors is going to the switch so hopefully they will consider some more. But at the moment I think we will get a BotW Link & Zelda

literally all I want, and all they reall need ot make is Gannondorf. Midna too is a strong choice because they can squeeze a nendo out of her and she was in that game.

Are the Link/Zelda going stateside?

I can't recall, exactly, but I remember someone saying it was either a Nintendo decision or shit to do with the Japanese market, that they don't like to make villain characters, and so mainly only hero characters get made.

They’ve been stateside for a while. The recent Overwatch and Zelda stuff has been showing up all over the place - you can walk into Best Buy and grab a Nendoroid Tracer or BotW Link (albeit at a somewhat inflated price).

But to answer OP’s question, there are a couple of reasons - Japanese companies have always been a little skittish around the prospect of villain figures, Zelda’s sales were kinda lukewarm, and BotW is the new big thing. We’ll almost definitely get more Zelda figures, but expect them to all be various iterations of Link.

The idea of Japan not liking villains is a total myth that seemed to stem from the SHF threads, since getting Figuarts for villain characters has been somewhat rare. But that's mostly down to them previously focusing on franchises where the bad guys are pretty poor (the MCU) or cheap one shot rubber suits.

I can't think of many Japanese lines that have gone on beyond the main few characters and NOT got villains.

yeah, but target, gamestop, and bestbuy haven't gotten the figmas in at all. Last time when the shf mario, figma Link, and figma Samus came around bluefin brought them in to the states via amazon but I don't think that's happened since.

Her body proportions are different than an average FIgma but her head isn't Nendoroid big and her bodies odd proportions wouldn't really work with a Nendoroid without changing it to match their normal setup.
I hate this trend where if it is slightly difficult or different it has to be a Nendoroid.
Also it makes me want to murder Goodsmile employees when they release part of a cast in Figma form and the rest as Nendos.

I can definitely confirm that TP Link, ALBW Link, TP Zelda, and Tracer have all been sold at Best Buy and Gamestop stores. I guess whether a given store will get them depends on the traffic in that area - all the stores I’ve seen them at are in high-traffic areas.

We’ve had a metric shitton of KanColle figmas with nary an Abyssal in sight. In the same vein, we get like 6-8 Fate figmas a year, but none of those have been Kotomine or Solomon or Amakusa or even Jeanne Alter (who you’d think would be a no-brainer given how popular she is and the fact that she would share like 50% of her tooling with a figma that’s already in production). I agree that the whole “Japanese companies hate villains” thing is exaggerated, but they’re not exactly a priority for Max Factory.
