Was browsing through bricklink randomly and man, what a peculiar set.

Old pic when i first made him, but this guy i scrambled together with random pieces that came in a bricklink order is still intact after quite some time now. His alternate face is an adorably peacefull sleeping expression and i'm still not sure if he just has canon two faces on the front and back of his head or if i should change him up a bit. He kind of has that biblical abomination from space thing going on despite mostly just chilling. In my new line of rival school spooky characters i even made him a daughter/waifu from the pieces that were once his buddy.

The new ones with the simple eyes like the dolphin are pretty cute. The ones from a few years ago with the detailed eye printing like new croc are awful, however.

Still wip wip wip status without a clear endgoal.
I'm eyeing the black mermaid tail too, but for another character. This character i liked the match of old dark gray, dark greens and dark reds, the schools colour theme revolves around muted tones and olives and dark greens to set them off from my regular more brightly coloured gang so it all the parts accidentally came together quite nicely.

The dino molds weren't bad but I really didn't like the builds, I think replicating irl architecture from a specific civilization in each of the other subthemes is what really made Adventures work for me.

These come from a time when Jack Stone and Galidor was about to be born, specialized pieces were around in pretty much every period of Lego's history since Homemaker and Fabuland, they just didn't show up in System sets too often, asides from the ugly molded baseplates.

I don't understand how they are able to do non-vehicle sets for super heroes. Like heres some super heroes and their pizza shop hideout. Meanwhile in 3 years of nexo knights we have 1 castle, 1 evil lair, and a tiny "library" that attaches to the castle on treads which is somehow the best structure set. At least they're going back to mechs and dragons for ninjago. How many more bikes, jets, jet bikes, and vehicles within vehicles must we endure?

Kids want superhero sets because of the minifigs from the movies they love and have t-shirts and backpacks of.

Kids want Nexo sets because of the vehicles. They could give a fuck about Macy.

Lego knows what sells and how to market it. Capeshit can have fun sets because the set isn't going to be what the kid focuses on when they run up to the box on the shelf. They're not going to notice the pizzeria, they're going to see the minifig and shout SPIDAMAM until their parents buy it for them.

Nexo sets have to appeal to the kids via the build, and little boys want vehicles.

Why does ninjago get so many lighthouses and such? Even chima got some fortresses. They can't shoehorn a smaller castle or tower of any significance into the TV show? The back side of the Mexican place is what I like to consider a pop-up LEGO store. I haven't really done much with the inside yet but I figure I'll do the PAB wall and a cashier etc. It's roughed out and tomorrow I can work on detailing. My town needed a place to buy LEGO.

Looks good! My one recommendation is to avoid unnecessary geometry, such as those curved pieces next to the awnings, and the cheese slopes on top of the sign. I think it would look better without both, and with additional color accents to break up the yellow.

Hey that looks like one of the towers my grandfather fell from in WW2

If there’s no poles running through those little log pieces I’d recommend using pic related for the top of the tower, maybe some plant greeble around it if that’s your thing, and definitely a ladder of some sort. Love to see it once it’s done

I've been modifying and betering all of my star wars models, and I'm already running out on black, grey and dark grey all purpose pieces. I've had a large supply for years but I'm running out, I always end up needing the same 20 pieces and I've run them dry.
How do you guys get the pieces you need? How do I get a large assortment of pieces of a specific color? I don't want to make a bricklink order every time I lack a specific piece.

I have about 400 parts on my various wanted lists that I maintain perpetually, so whenever I'm making a cracklink order for specific parts, I put those in my cart first and then check to see which parts on my want lists that seller has.

These are pieces that I use a lot, like 1x2 plates with bars, 1x1 round studs, etc. Even if I don't have an immediate need for them, I usually stock up when I can because I know I'll use them in the future.

If this is subtle shitposting, its well done and I like it. If its real, you have to start playing 6d chutes and ladders with bricklink. You dont make an order for that one torso you just now decided you want, you also look at all the other stuff they have for a decent price that you might need. When I get an order in, usually 90% of it gets sorted right away to use later which might strike you as dumb hoarding behavior but at this point I have a huge usable palette of pieces and I rarely need to order specific parts to finish a MOC and thats really helpful.

There are mocs inbetween. The whole desk is on wheels so everything can be reached, Played or looked at with out stress.
But yes i enjoy building this huge Model of a city more than playing with it. But it is definitly not just about buying, just because there are modulars inbetween.

People sell minifigs and other parts all the time in here.

Just post a picture of what you have available along with an email address, and tell us where you're willing to ship to. Then people will email you and make offers, and if it's acceptable, you will email them back with your paypal address and ask for their mailing addresses, then after they pay you, you can send them the goods.

I buy a lot of my minifigs in the /lg/.

By dividing them into decreasing categories. I started with a pile of plates, pile of bricks, pile of wheels and other vehicle stuff, minifigs and minifig accessories. Then subdivided the piles, the last one into guns, tools, wearable pieces, swords and junk. Keep dividing until you've got piles easy enough to sort through.

Bricklink can be good for ideas on how to classify stuff, or you can follow your own ideas, example I have all brackets and bricks with studs on the sides next to each other.

Some decent storage will help, like this Akro-Mils organizer. I've got some of those, some other brands, some set boxes cut in half to serve as parts trays.

I bought the Green Ninja Mech Dragon this Monday and fuck damn I loved it.

The Movie line in general has been great. I know it's unlikely, but I hope the series continues a little while, at least a Series 2 for the minifigures.

Also I love how some sets in the line, like the Garmamech, are considered mediocre for ridiculous reasons. Most people felt off at the Garmamech due to not being tall and because it didn't fire actual sharks.

Then bid 60. If someone outbids you then bid 100. These sets are cool, but unless you have every set you want that is in stores now you're probably better off using the 100 for those.

Personally I don't think thats even one of the coolest viking sets and they're marking it up like its one of the better ones. Dragon is cool, but the catapult build is really weak compared to the other viking sets you see going for crazy prices.

People bidding on that site tend to be very autistic. It has happened numerous times that the price skyrocketted higher than the initially more expensive buy now option. Also it seems to be the cheapest chance to get it right now, but since I am saving up money I don't know risk bidding or just grab it.

No, you'll have to message the sellers and get shipping quotes from them. It's a good idea to use the filters to limit the sellers it shows you to only the ones in your country/ shipping region.

If you have your heart set on *this* set and have 100eu then go for it, but keep in mind there is a 65eu one in belgium with a damaged box. Even if its 35eu to ship, this isn't your only chance, so maybe it's worth it to bid 60 and hope you get lucky.

You should also consider that ebay is scammer central, but bricklink sellers are usually extremely honest, and if you have any problems with your order, bricklink will come down hard on the seller if they try to jerk you around.

The only thing I would buy on ebay is large unsorted bulk lots where the exact pieces didn't matter.

Yes the floors do remove. Sometimes I really go all out designing an interior... Other times I start on another project and it has a collection of stuff that "could" go in there but just is a mess of parts in that particular apartment.

Thanks. I only build in the winter while there is snow on the ground. I take the spring, summer, and fall to collect. I buy out hug lots and aside from looking briefly during the buy stage I put them away until the first snow fall. I'm still finding stuff I've forgotten I bought. Look for some new MOCs this winter from me.

The big Creator modulars are designed with strip of tile around the top edge of each floor's walls that only has a few studs on it. This way you can easily separate the floors from each other. Most multi-story moc buildings have a similar design.

I owned the cloud city star wars set as a kid. Still have all the figures and parts from it but sold Boba Fett as a kid. Look at the price the other day and was honestly surprised. Do people really want to pay over 2000.00 dollars for that one set. It honestly was an ok build and playset but I would hardly put that value on any on the figures or pieces. It's a few things:
1. Completionist autists who /must/ have every SW set or minifig
2. Nostalgiafags who want the kit they had as a kid, and are now making enough money that $2k doesn't really mean that much to them

Back in the day I worked at a NOC. (Network Operations Center) We had a machine room for the servers that was pretty much dust free as possible. It had its own cooling and venting system and was pretty much all glass walls as well. If I had an unlimited amount of funds I'd build that and not have to worry about dust at all.

Having no pets and no carpet helps but I do find dust to be the biggest issue when maintaining my city. Not complaining though.

PR IMO is the best of the modulars since the recent design change (more playset, less model), while also being one of the most beautiful as a model.

Ninjago city is also cool but it's more eclectic. You can tell the designers had a lot of tun with it. It's newer of course, so you'll have another chance to buy it

Can I post some recent finds? The sets are in pieces but here's the manuals. I've been getting back into lego, and I grab certain sets whenever I see them at a thrift store. Sometime ago I found the awesome Offroad Race Track from Drome Racers and posted here about it, some anons may remember that.
I haven't really "found" the newer sets yet, so for now I just buy the nostalgic ones - from the turn of millenium.
I didn't really ever have any secondhand bricks as a kid, and looking at these now I'm surprised to see how new most of these feel compared to my childhood ones. The thought makes me both happy and a bit sad the same time.
