If his articulation is exactly the same as the Synthetic Human, he should be great to pose and tinker with. The only articulation I think is missing/altered is the ab crunch unless its hidden really well by the sculpt.

Torso articulation isn't the best on Synth, for the forward/back direction anyways. I think it'll be just fine as long as he has the typical SH Figuarts range of articulation.

I haven't read the manga yet but I'm so hyped for this figure. I like this kind of simple soldier type design, not so many in 1/12 scale. Got lots of rifles waiting to be held by him.

the manga is a good read. most of the beginning is wordless, just atmosphere with some action here and there. i would recommend reading it while playing something like the soundtrack from Alien or something.

I'm a 1/18 collector though I have a few figmas I bought are bootlegs from AliExpress. The only time figmas I have that are real are from jungle I bought a year ago. To be honest...even without the price factored in I feel they did a pretty mediocre job on him. The proportions feel off, the face came out meh and some of the articulation is ugly. I don't regret canceling my second copy and going with just one because I am a huge fan and this will probably be the only damn Killy we'll get.

I feel a bit ripped off at the $70+ shipped it will cost me though.

Well the pricing isn't really a direct measurement of quality, i.e. the cost of the figure. It reflects the level of distribution that company and/or the IP is capable of. Something like this should be equivalent to a cheaper tier Figuarts despite the price difference.

There's some better-looking photos on Instagram. Seems like harsh lighting doesn't do the figure many favours due to the glossy finish, also washes out all the subtle colour variations.

Pricing isn't the issue here. It could be a $20 release and it'd still be pretty disappointing. The way they handled the hips is atrocious, the face is off and it looks like they didn't even paint the white bandage thing on his cheek in the final release. It's a flesh colored tumor lump compared to the promo shots.

In direct comparison to a SHF this is a failure. In direct comparison to figma at $70 price points it's an even bigger failure. It's probably going to flop hard now and make it impossible to get a Cibo or Sanakan which pisses me off.

As a fan...let me explain why the bandage thing pisses me off. It's not on ANY incarnation of the character in officially released media. Not in the original manga, not in the re-drawn covers for the re-released manga, not in the old anime and not in the new anime film. It's literally a thing that only appears on one piece of media that is some behinds the scene artwork for the film they decided against using.

So the fact that 1000 Toys even chose that design is dumb as fuck. I get what you're saying but on principle it's bullshit of the highest order. At least when Daibadi decided to cut out panel lining they had good reasons. The factory was refusing to do it and couldn't do it with decent QC and it was a fairly significant amount of extra work on EVERY RELEASE. This is a one time thing on a specific figure that shouldn't have even been there so the least they could do is paint the fucking thing.

He had to approve and sign off on this, this is apparently the design he wanted to go with. As for your transparent bandage argument...it's too damn thick to be a transparent bandage and lacks any kind of gloss coat. It was clearly sculpted to be a white padded bandage and they just decided they couldn't be bothered to paint it.

Yeah, i'm probably a little over heated and apologize for that. Doesn't help that i'm an old fan before the manga re-release and Netflix film. So got a good 20 years of passion, build up and anticipation for some kind of figure to get released. Tried my best to temper high expectations but I really do feel like figma or SHF would have nailed it better in terms of accuracy, paint finish, implementation of articulation and maintaining proportions. This isn't the worst possible release but it does have issues that were easy to avoid in my opinion.

Lazy sculpting. They also couldn't be bothered to paint his damn eyebrows properly like the prototype had so it exacerbates the hair issue and throws off his look even more.

He was studying to be an architect, he drew that shit bro. It was a monthly manga as well so he didn't need excessive help from assistants like artists releasing weekly chapters. His new stuff is on a faster schedule thus less time for detailed backgrounds.

Thing is he wasn't comfortable drawing faces back then so detailed architecture was his comfort zone. Now that he can do faces like he wants he doesn't feel the need to do use backgrounds as a crutch.

Like some other anons, I wasn't thrilled with how Killy looked in the promo shots, but I preordered anyways out of love for the franchise and on the good feedback of 1000toys prior releases. The early shots in the 2chan thread were concerning, but anon's shots in this thread made Killy look fantastic.

I'm happy to say that anon's shots did not lie; Killy is awesome in-hand!

My first in-hand impression of Killy was that he was like a Marvel Legend, though granted, a Marvel Legend with far superior QC and production quality. I almost don't want to describe it that way because of the negative connotations it may imply, but hear me out.

Killy is made with a softer PVC that feels kinda like the material used for a Marvel Legend or Star Wars Black Series toy (as opposed to the rigid plastic that Figuarts are generally constructed with), but it doesn't feel cheap. Yes, the material does reflect light, but in-hand it looks fantastic thanks to tons of sculpted details and paint apps that highlight details in Killy's suit

Poseability is excellent too. All the joints you'd expect are there (including hidden swivel joints above his shin guards, an articulation point I'm used to seeing mostly in Marvel Legends, heh) and the range of motion is great. The one exception would his torso; though there is articulation in the torso (including a ratcheting ab-crunch), it is hindered a bit by the PVC jacket placed over it.

My favorite thing is how they hid the shoulder joint with the armor pads, looks fantastic.

Overall, if you want a Killy figure, I think you're gonna be pretty happy with this figure. Articulation is great, looks awesome in-hand, and the figure feels even better in-hand. I only wish that we got a spare head with a grimacing expression.

Oh, the Safeguard are quite awesome as well! Not a whole lot to say about 'em. They look exactly as they should and they have poseability all over. Swappable hands would have been nice, but that's really my only gripe. Can definitely see myself picking up one or two more in the future.

Hmm, I think he does. He's a supremely solid action figure with a cool, detailed post-apocalyptic look. That being said, he's fairly light on accessories or gimmicks, and the ones he comes with are best appreciated when you're familiar with what they are. For example his "pistol" (actually a graviton beam emitter); it's a very plain accessory, but as a fan I think it's absolutely awesome, haha.

There's also the price; it's a much better deal when it feels like you're getting a great action figure AND an awesome representation of a beloved character. I think without knowing anything about him, it may not be the best price-fun ratio.

If the design appeals to you though, and you aren't concerned about cost, then absolutely pick him up!

The holding hands is soft but firm, good opening and the thumb is not connected to the fingers so they're pretty ideal.
Kotobukiya guns the grips are a bit too thin, but some Revoltech guns, and Little Armory (only tried Kriss Vector for now) works damn well. Wrists have good range for holding rifles properly.

I didn't realize from the photos but Killy has interesting shoulder setup. It's just one big ball-in-socket joint positioned slightly out of the body. But it works and looks nice. I think this is something other companies, especially American ones can copy for their cheap, "high articulation," collectors-in-mind action figures. Instead of the typical disc joint swivels. Have a small chunk of the chest dipped in so the arms can move inward in front of the body. Poseability will improve ten folds just from that. And the hips copy what AY Wolverine did, ball joint and angled thigh rotation. Very little parts and easy assembly, but very efficient in posing.

He really isn’t anything like a marvel legend. His articulation and the way he hides his joints is so far above and beyond I’m surprised you drew this comparison. I guess the rubberized clothes do kind of feel like some ML, but that’s where the similarities end.

Any knocks against this figure I have are only the most minor of nitpicks. The belt kind of baffles me how it’s disconnected on both ends. Also I wish they put some elbow pads on him. For all the effort they took to hide the other joints they kind of just said fuck it on his elbows.

Finally I really would like a holster for his gun. I haw the perfect one to use, and I was trying to figure out where to attach it, but I looked at a lot of pics online and it seems like he is constantly holding it. I can’t find an official picture where the gun is not in his hand

As I said in my posts, it's mostly how the figure feels in-hand that made me think that, and again, I didn't mean it in a negative way. It feels more like an action figure you're meant to play with than a premium collectible you're meant more to display. That sense of playability/durability just made me think Marvel Legends. I agree with you on the elbow pads. That seems to be where they just overlooked hiding the joints, the holster is just a nitpick with me too, his GBE is always on hand but would have been nice to store it on him. I do like how the belt works though, nice to not have to worry about it hindering leg movement or fear it warping.

As for his hands, I tried one of the MSG kits on him but the handle aren’t thick enough so they just slide around in his hand.

I must be in the minority. I found the anime to be pretty good. It did what it had to do for a movie, and the 3D wasn't total shit compared to some others *cough berserk cough*. The manga is certainly better, but it also had several volumes worth of time to allow us into it's world. Honestly I'm just happy we got anything recently.

Larger than I thought he'd be. Putting a 1/12 synthetic human next to him, it almost looks like it'd fit perfectly inside him as an endoskeleton. He's a few millimetres shorter and slightly thinner in the limbs than SHF Robin Mask, if that helps.

Nah it was included, although it did end up shipping like a week or two after the regular retail shops had already gotten it.

And HLJ has it for 7400. Unless amiami has a much bigger discount and you've got a bunch of stuff in september to bundle it with, it's not too bad. I'm digging the head so it's an easy choice for me, at least.

This unmasked head is sick, I'm really into it. I'm a little eh in general about the figure though. It's a kinda boring design, if I'm being totally honest. It's not super unique, and the bug-looking elements aren't pushed as far as I'd like.

Also, this might sound weird and pedantic, but I dislike the hand sculpts. Generally, open palmed hands with spread fingers are my favorite type of swappable hand, as they are very expressive and allow for a wide variety of poses. But these aren't very good in my book. They look stiff and awkward, and the fingers are all curled a similar amount, which makes for stiff looking poses. They're the kind of limp, tentative hands you hold up when you're caught in the act and you freeze.

According to their FB page, preorders are open until 3/16 or 3/19 (they've posted both). Figure is expected to ship in September, and they've been pretty good about getting close to the estimates in the past.

The base that comes with Black Series Centerpiece Darth Vader should work pretty well. The base is a door that has been busted open inside a starship corridor, and I think it'd be perfect with either Killy stepping through the doorway or trying to stop Safeguard from getting in.

The Centerpiece sets are being clearanced out all over, I believe the lowest being Target who went down to $15 (original MSRP was $50). My local Targets were all sold out, but I did manage to get one for $20 at Best Buy and I think Walmart had them down to around that level too. I would totally take some pictures, buuuut I'm moving soon and the thing is held in place inside its box with a billion of those plastic pseudo-ties. Already got my hands full with packing stuff up, so I'm leaving it in the box til after the move. Will totally take a bunch of pics afterwards though, if someone else hasn't already.

And Killy with a Marvel Legend and a Black Series figure.

As you can see, Killy is a pretty standard 6" scale figure, only really shorter than the superhero figures, which seems appropriate.

Haha, the Z'Gok E is from the Gundam Converge line (there's a HyGogg just out of the shot too!) and I got him from Mandarake. Unfortunately, I checked Mandarake and they appear to be currently sold out of both the Z'Gok and Hygogg. May be worth keeping an eye on their respective pages as Mandy is probably going to be your best bet for these guys. Keep an eye on the BST thread here on /toy/ too though, as I've seen Converges listed several times before.

Different anon, I just read first 2 volumes of Ningyo no Kuni and going through Blame! for the first time. I read Sidonia as they were coming out.

I know what you mean, I like the early art style, reminds me of Shirow Masamune a bit, but so far almost no narrative... It feels like Ningyo no Kuni is him trying to tell that story again with all that he learned. Even though the new manga looks and have technologies and key words like Sidonia's the setting is Blame lol good mix. Main guys both have the (sometimes) only gun that can penetrate the Megastructures.

What I didn't realize is Nihei's pen work or finishes I guess looks like Iida Umanosuke now.

I want Seu figure now but I feel like there'll be a Doll from the new series that might get to be a figure in this line.

man, I think he's one of the most talented artists I've ever seen, for that kind of style at least...I don't understand why he/they decided to take the worst thing he ever created to make the ugliest toy ever.
It looks like the inner frame of those modular robots/plamodels like frame arms. And it's the whole figure.
Oh right, it can become a fucking square.

I thought it was "Code." It's a tiny cylinder thing that turns you into an "Official Doll." I don't know what's the intended translation for 正規人形 so I'm guessing. It's the henshin item to become one of the armored guys. There're bunch out there, ancient lost technology and all, once you turn you're immortal, but not everyone can turn, usually will just kill the person. Also apparently it's important to hold onto it after the transformation, but not sure as to why.
