>>6730627Dinobots are basically an elite group of Autobot soldiers. Think the Strike Team from The Shield, with all of the corruption and bad shit that comes with those characters but (depending on the writers) combined with the special needs kids from South Park and their various levels of mental retardation.
In general, their personalities are as followed:
1. Grimlock: either a special needs retard with super retard strength (cartoon) or the token evil Autobot who will kill/enslave his fellow Autobots, let alone try and kill Earthlings (including Earth kids) if they try and stop his evil schemes. Comic Grimlock was super smart though his evil varies from writer to writer (Budinsky wrote Grimlock as pure evil, while Furman wrote him as a Vic Mackey type necessary evil who was needed for the Autobots to beat the Decepticons). The writers of IDW basically stole a lot of Grimlock's personality for IDW Prowl, which is ironic given that Marvel Prowl was Grimlock's bitch boy.
2. Swoop is the "normal" Dinobot. Think Ronnie Gardocki from "The Shield" in terms of personality and absurd level of popularity compared to his teammates. Swoop's smart and unlike Grimlock, knows enough to try and stay on friendly terms with the rest of the Autobots and often serves as their go-between. However, if push comes to shove, Swoop (like Ronnie) will pick the Dinobots over the rest of the Autobots.
3. Slag: Basically Grimlock with zero redeeming qualities. A complete monster, in the Marvel canon he's outright killed multiple Autobots for imaginary slights and had the other Dinobots be forced to cover up his crimes. He's the Shane Vendrell of the Dinobots, a complete monster who (as seen in the IDW books) thinks he's just as good as Grimlock in terms of being a leader, but who keeps fucking up.
