Pacific Rim: Uprising is coming out soon, and I am interested in acquiring the figures, but I have no idea if should buy the Tamashii Nations products or those made by Diamond Select. I have never bought any product from either of those (I have all the figures from NECA, but I do not know what to expect from these other companies). What would you recommend, /toy/ ?

I have read that the kaiju made by Tamashii are just bricks with very little articulation. Seeing the quality of the NECA kaiju, I feel like that is rather disappointing.

Diamond will have solid figures, fairly articulated, hefty chunks of plastic. Tamashii will have more articulated figures, more flexible. I assume more parts, hands and accessories, as well as better paint. Diamond will likely be a fair bit larger too, like an inch or two, or even more. The prices are obviously cheaper from Diamond. It'll be up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide what you want, both will surely be at worst good figures.

For Kaiju, like >>6744758 said, Bandai's will have very limited articulation and won't do a whole lot. Definitely stick to Diamond's for the Kaiju.

Diamond has two price points, one with extra weapons and one without to appeal to younger audiences. It’s only like $5 difference between the proper versions and Bandai’s, not counting Gipsy Avenger’s bargain price.

Tamashii Nations

The PR2 toys are being sold through Bandai's Robot Damashii line, and this line does a good job with Gundam toys and toys from other mecha series. Really good articulation, really good QC. I don't think Diamond Select will be able to match them in that area. Bandai knows how to make mecha toys and models, really, really fucking well.

If the first movie's mechs look like transformers to you, you need to get your eyes checked out. What mechs do you prefer?

The mechs in 2 look like generic standardized shit tho. And everyone of Boyega's opinions is ruining the movie, which is already ruined by the complete lack of soul. You can tell no one involved gives a damn.
