The interviews have all talked a great deal about how boyega brought the fight choreographer from Star Wars, how he had personal influence over the direction of the way the robots fought, and how he said he "hated how slow the Jaegers moved" in the original.
In addition, every just about every frame of the trailers looks cheap and cgi-heavy in a very star-wars-prequel way (using greenscreen to replace building sets or props), the Jaegers move like they are weightless, the tiny robot that girl makes or whatever moves LITERALLY like a Bay Transformer, sliding around, rolling into a ball with every exterior panel shifting into different positions, scraping up concrete as it moves. The cockpits have gone fully holographic because it's easier to shoot and easier for the actors to be comfortable if there is no giant rig they strap into. The cockpit is lit flat, like a sitcom, and it looks like it is made of cardboard. It is consistently shot from a flat front angle that makes it look even worse.
It's a cheap cash-in, marketed on the recognizability of the name and Boyega's face. If you can't tell it's shit by watching the trailers, I'm baffled.
