Legit stores can't really 'make money' off of shorting you parts. You just give them negative feedback and others will know not to use that store. They can't afford to lose customers over a few cents worth of parts. Just stick to the higher ranked sellers at first if you're still worried.

Except, bricklink people really hate leaving neutrals/negatives for some reason. I've got an outstanding order now that's taking forever. The seller has a good score but check the feedback comments and it's full of 'slow shipping' and 'only sent my order after emails asking what the fuck.'

Because you can be blacklisted as a buyer for leaving too many negative feedbacks.

On a broader level, people accept it because it's fucking toys that you're buying over the internet, so it *really* doesn't matter that much if you get shorted a few pieces every now and then.

Truth is (and I left this out to make the story shorter), but I didn't go back to their store deliberately.
After not hearing from them, but before leaving feedback, I went looking for another SHIELD minifig because I figured I wasn't going to get it from them.
I went to the first Australian store on the list that had one in stock and added it to my cart with out looking at or even registering the store name. When I hovered over the cart, it said I'd already made an order in this store. I went "Huh, what'd I buy from here..." and had a look. At which point it showed that it was the order with the SHIELD minifig in it, so I left negative feedback.

The other store that I mentioned, I waited for my order, sent messages that never got a reply and after a couple of months I decide fuck it I'm going to leave negative feedback. At this point I found out that their store had been suspended for a number of NSS/NRS complaints, so I left negative feedback and made my own complaint.
That store was called 'iBrick Store'. It's now permanently suspended.
Thankfully that order was like less then $10, so it was nothing.

I'll be the bigger man and not name them, partially because they do have mostly good feedback, but also just on the off chance that they're here and are complete dicks that recognize me/my story and decide to do something dickish like give my name and address out or something.
I only actually discovered they'd blacklisted/stoplisted me when I was looking through the feed back I'd left others, for reasons I forget and accidentally clicked on their user name, which took me through to the contact form, which told me I couldn't message them because they'd stop listed me.

The thing is, /lg/ legitimately is one of the fastest moving generals (between 1 and 3 days per thread), so as long as the image limit is 150, it's naturally going to have multiple threads in the catalog, unless they're manually pruned. Add onto that the bonkle threads and the 1-2 non-/lg/ lego threads that other anons start, and lego is overrepresented in the catalog.

The multiple competing new threads is a special kind of stupid, of course

So, like the other poster said, there are a million ways to make hands. The one you posted is honestly comically oversized, and with system pieces you can do so much better at that scale.

At smaller scales, these three are good options. I cba to make thumbs etc, but you should be able to figure out the rest.

The 60th Anniversary Set is gone and will stay gone I am told by a rep there. I drove to my nearest store this weekend to get mine as the manager said they would also be gone by end of weekend. I may have not got my Walmart deal but at least I got the 4 minis set.

I woudl love to say "nostalgia goggles." but it's not that. tons of the later EU stuff was in my opinion shit. (pretty much all Kevin J Anderson shit.) but the OT, the Thrawn trilogy as well as KOTOR, Dark Empire and Rogue Squadron books in large part and Truce at Bakura were a pretty good universe.
I'm not sure what woudl fix the new movies although Rogue One should have either been a heist movie like Oceans 11 or closer to The guns of Navarone

Since I had some free time I put together a collage for you of pieces I have that fit so you can see what they look like.

Aviator and ski goggles look fairly normal and don't obscure the eyes at all.

The Ice Planet and Power Miners visors technically fit, but they ride too high. This isn't as much of a problem with the transparent visor, but if you want to see the eyes, the RR one won't work.

Regular helmet visor and snorkel work fine.

Interestingly, a couple of the castle visors don't fit the normal way, but they do fit well upside-down. Might be an interesting moc technique in there someplace.

The big astronaut visor and full-face SCUBA mask do not fit.

The older style ones had taller studs, but the modern ones are basically the same size as Duplo. Either style works fine with Lego, but obviously the taller ones are going to have a bit more clutch power.

Can't speak for Ninjago, but the Nexo Knights show has a few funny parts but is overall thoroughly a show for little kids.

However, The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie were both pretty funny all the way through. Haven't seen the Ninjago one yet.

Haven't really seen any completely, but Nexo seemed like a show for kids. nice plots but pretty symplistic. Ninjago on the other hand still had simple stories, but told in a better and more engaging way. (like there are some plot twists and the way they're presented is really endearing)

At the end of the day, almost every modern LEGO cartoon can be a solid time waster, and even an entertaining show if you keep in mind it's aimed at little kids.

It is pretty shitty that people leave positive feedback and use comments for negatives. It is very easy for sellers to list what exactly it is they are selling, be it just the bricks without figs, or a few parts missing or no box/stickers etc. I suppose it's somewhat on the buyer to ask if there is a specific they are looking for, but if they list the set for sale I think it's more than reasonable to expect the whole set and no 'replacement' parts. It certainly seems fair to give negative feedback if the seller won't (and they won't) ship you the handful of missing parts at their cost when they fucked it up.

Scammers tend to be really obvious, it's the stores that have 50 UCS Falcons in stock for $100 apiece. They get banned pretty quickly. Check the feedback score of whoever you pick to buy from and you should be good.

I don't know what you consider a large order but most of the seller bitching on the forum seems to be just the opposite: small orders of like 20 pieces of 20 different kinds, that take a while to assemble and don't bring in much money. I'd guess they'd be fine with a larger order.

Not that anon, but as long as a seller doesn't have more than one or two negative feedbacks, they're probably OK. Most small-time sellers like Polandbro here in the /lg/ are reputable even though they don't have a lot of orders so far. Really though, bricklink is pretty good at keeping people honest. Like the other anon said, you shouldn't buy from a store with 0 feedback if their sales are "too good to be true", but for someone who's just selling random parts at average cracklink prices, low feedback probably just means they're a new seller.

I've bought stuff from sellers who have feedback scores of like 93%, which is pretty low.
But before I did, I went through their feedback. Most of the negative feed backs were from a two or more years ago and ranged from complaints about shipping time, to issues with missing bricks, that according to the sellers reply were offered full refunds and things like that.

There are plenty of stores with feed back scores of 98%+, which are normally completely safe and are only down a couple of points because someone didn't like waiting or something. If you find a store with something lower then that, then flip through their feed back and look at when it was and what the comment says and what, if any the reply from the seller was.

The only thing I will say to avoid, is anyone who has multiple negative feed backs that claim that the seller doesn't respond.

Not that anon, but I normally do this when I'm in the train so that I can get directly into building when I get home. Otherwise I just stare at the pieces for a while and slowly design it while I'm building it, which normally takes longer and gets me too focused for me to be able to watch anime while I build (normally 50% of the time "building" is just me looking for the pieces I want to use. I had my pieces sorted at some point a few years ago, but I made a huge-ass MOC and took everything out, and I slipped and accidentally flipped the table. Luckily, the moc was safe on my desk, but since then I've never had the time nor patience to put everything in place. I sorted the pieces by colour but it's even harder now.

Under a certain collection size, sorting by color is better. You can make a MOC with a coherent color scheme just by grabbing a couple containers and riffing based on those pieces.

Sorting by shape becomes more useful the more parts you have. Although certain "useful" pieces like snot bricks and brackets and hinges should be sorted by shape immediately

Well, all my pieces are together with their fellow same coloured counterparts, and it sucks. Looking for black 1x2 modified plates in the same box filled with those huge power miner wheels/drill base, fucktons of 4x6 tile/plates and aqua raiders helmets is not what you normally want.

Sorting by colour is very rarely useful, and when it is, it's normally because there are too many piece shapes but few colours, and it's just easier to sort by colour in those cases.

The dog is nice if you're planning to build sofas. Tan slopes are always useful IMO. I'd pick up the orange city buggy and the ninjago bike for the red katanas/visor, but again, I can never stop myself from buying moar klocki. The blue cap makes the police one interesting, but the pieces look pretty common besides that.

Do any of you sort the pieces into piles when building new sets? I got into the habit of sorting by color before starting the build mainly because most instructions actually show it on the first couple pages and after working for LEGO, it became automatic to me

If you mean the entire theme, the King's mech is highly praised, any battle suits or ultimate sets are very nice for the price if they have colors/parts you like. The fortrex was a fun build and a good set, but has risen over MSRP after being on discount before leaving circulation. My personal favorite for value is Macy's drop bot. I love the build, how it fits with a battle suit and getting a squire bot in a $15 set is nice if you don't have one or if you just want more.

If you mean just this wave, berserker bomber seems to be the standout. Twinfector isn't bad for it's price. Tech wizard showdown is pretty solid for the price. Axl's rolling arsenal is very over priced. The other two aren't really anything special unless you really wanto the minifigs.

If you're in the U.S. there are things called post office boxes. That's probably your best bet for getting packages without an address. You can also buy reloadable visa cards at a 7-11, I think they might have paypal cards pretty commonly too. I wouldn't buy something and ask them to hold it. Chances are it will be available whenever you would have them send it. If not another seller will have it.

They aren't gift cards, they're prepaid credit cards. They work exactly like normal credit cards because they're backed by credit card companies. What differentiates them from normal credit cards is that you give them the money up front and they are only good for the amount of money you pay into them at the checkout. This way you don't get a bill you have to pay later because you've already paid.

You know most builders (who don't use LDD) don't have instructions? The best you're going to get is breakdown shots, to help you reverse engineer sections that you don't understand.

The good news is, since it's such a large build, you don't need to reverse engineer the internals precisely. 90% of what's important is visible to you already

All I mean is that in a small build, sometimes you really DO need to know exactly which combination of SNOT pieces they used. But in a larger build like this, you can make up whatever works. It doesn't even really matter if a whole section of plating is off by a stud or so.

Blueprint is a program that converts a LDD file to instructions, right? The issue is getting the model into LDD in the first place. That's tedious work that the designer won't do if they don't have to. So unless the model was originally designed in LDD, you won't get instructions.

Have any of you guys ever lost any bricks?
I don't mean you miss placed a brick or dropped it under the table and had to go looking for it. I mean like large quantities of bricks that you remember leaving on the table/desk/whatever, then next thing you know they're not there.
I'm currently missing a bag of 25 1x2 plates as well as a couple of others that were in the same bag.

I loved these sets. They were like The Lego Movie style of mix together what you have with a bunch of different themes. It sort of captured the make-do-with-whatever imagination you had to have when you were limited on the amount of sets you had for whatever epic scene you were playing. Also I loved the extra weapons and such for my castle and pirate sets.

The idea - of a super theme containing multiple previous themes - is actually pretty damn cool. I guess there's something to be desired in the actual execution, though frankly I was never too jazzed about sets in this particular era. It's around when my own dark ages were beginning and I'm reminded I had a point, at least for myself. The appeal had simply drained away.

That said there is hardly anything wrong with blending themes. Nexo, for instance, combining space, or at least futuristic look and feel, with castle. Though clearly not everyone agrees with the execution.

I was in two cities that were large enough to each have multiple department stores, and I had big blocks of time to kill, so I hit up everywhere. Decided to check Kmart just for completion's sake and found a mostly-untouched box of S17. I hadn't gotten the baker and I wanted it so I went through literally the entire box and found it in the very last bag.

TRU was having a two-for-$5 sale on the TLBM Lego Batman Movie and Ninjago minifigs (but there were no ninjago minifigs) so I did a little more multiple-donor armybuilding and had a spare Harley head left over. Took about ninety minutes but I am super psyched about how well it turned out.

Look at something like the pirates sets from the 80s. Walls, stairs, bridges - all one piece. It's telling that more modern specialised pieces are used in creative ways in MOCs, but older ones aren't. They're less versatile.

the 2x4 round under the cabin lets you rotate the engine, it's very satisfying. the roof storage on the rear deck is somewhat of an ugly compromise.

the next big addition is connecting the engine to the tracks. I'll have use a portal axle to not completely loose cargo volume.
