Have you ever watched the series? you get maybe 20 minutes of zombie action across a season, it's a character driven show, so it only makes sense to sell figures of those characters.

You're talking about McFarlane, he's been doing this kind of shit for at least the last decade. First the figures were in their own scale, incompatible with anything at the time. Now they're around the same scale as NECA's stuff, but they've gone back to being glorified statueshit because Todd is an articulation-hating autist.
I washed my hands of the show two or three seasons ago, but you'd think at least that spiked Winslow zombie would merit a figure.

Which is kinda weird since I'm seeing more articulation popping back up in his figures than when it was all originally rebranded as Color Tops or whatever it's called. Like those Stranger Things figures actually seem pretty nice, while that old AC3 Connor figure was a statue.

I mean, he already did though? It's an almost perfect figure, it only has two flaws: the articulation is sliiightly outdated (the shoulders are simple swivels and there are no double elbows), and it's become hilariously pricey on the aftermarket.

I feel like one of the problems with zombie figures is that you want to be able to army build them, yet with some exceptions like GI Joe's zombie Viper the zombies shouldn't look the same. Not like other army builders where you can buy the same figure over and over. So you have to release a bunch of different molds, but that eats up budget and there's probably a lot of releases that wouldn't sell as well as well. So gory stuff and figures of popular characters may sell, but the more mundane stuff probably doesn't, and in the end the figures just aren't that good anyway so its not like the boring designs can be saved by the engineering.

Here's a random example I googled, the zombie figures here are pretty boring compared to the more gory ones. I'm sure these were a threepack or something because I can't imagine them selling on their own.
