In terms of design, I disagree, maybe lore-wise, but the design is both simple and slick, with a insect aesthetic yet not exactly just a literal toy bugs like the visorak, and still maintaining that robotic aesthetic, in my opinion bohrok's are the best design bionicle period. The rahkshi tried to recapture that aesthetic but didn't quite reach it.
They were a breath of fresh air from "robotic men" toa's. Their ability to roll into balls an hang like bats added to their charm, even their goofy ability to peck like a chicken.

How does /biog/ store their bonkles?

I've always kept them built and just put in a box, but that causes parts to easily break and warp. I'm going through all my sets and dismantling any that lack a canister and keeping them in ziplock bags, but I'm not sure if this is the best method.

I keep all the actual technic parts in those flat sectioned containers. Axles, pins, gears etc.

Everything else I call "the dumb parts" and I keep them in a plastic bin. I only collect 2001-03 so it's not that big of a collection tho.

Bricks bigger than 2x2 are "the dumb bricks" by the way.

Yes, shock value is a part of it, but only an idiot would think they can shock 4chan, I have no problems with you guys, quite a lot disdain for some people in other places tho, as you do too.
In some instances, it can work as internet justice to de-moralize people, such as was the case recently with an obnoxious group called cult of Solek, an offshoot of TTV that went raiding different offshoots of the bionicle community with varying levels of success

I like doing this, I generally like niches, fuck it's a perfect middleground between robots and fleshies. but you know how hentai artists say that they can't fap to their own stuff, same applies here. I know some people will, for sure

Gadunka was merely a fun experiment and a challenge. I did find out that Gadunka has little to no sex-appeal despite what you try, but it sure makes an obnoxious meme.

Included is the actual hewkii on the background of the Gadunka pic and not just some shitty crop, in case you are questioning the validity of my response.

This actually sounds like a really neat idea. It could've combined the organic tribal feel from Mata Nui with the more industrial and advanced look of Metru Nui to make some kind of post-apocalyptic urbex plot thingy with plants growing all over a ruined city as they try to resettle it.

Metru Nui's relationship with other lands must have been pretty shit though, if the Toa's first and only plan was to take the Matoran outside their known universe, instead of contacting some other island to come in and help or take in their Matoran refugees. I know Metru Nui's dome was basically sealed off apart from some underground chutes, but damn.

Kids don't like to fucking read, they want something to visualize. They want to display their toys like the scenes they see. Reading is fucking boring. Imagine if they did all these in comic or animation form. It would have been so much better

You can hardly say it relied on the books when a lot of countries (or at least mine) never got those. Comics, movies, and the website were still more than enough to follow the story. Sure, I only learnt about certain events through the wiki much later, but not knowing about them never gave me any trouble as a kid.

The difficulty in getting the exact details of the plot may have been a contributing factor for kids falling out of the story, but as >>6790220 pointed out, the books were mostly an American thing and the toys still sold okay in the rest of the world. For that matter, the majority of the story content was English-only, including most of the comics. I think only one issue was ever released in my country as a promo that ran in like one store.
That aside though, I agree that the story could have been told better and that Lego's handling of their tie-in media wasn't the best. The books were barely advertised for example, the website made no mention of them. Perhaps a cartoon series would have been the best way to reach the widest possible audience with the most complete story content, a la all the Transformers shows, but given how most Lego-based shows have turned out, maybe it's better we didn't get one.
It's a shame they only made a few movies and that they were so rushed and sloppy. Those had a bigger reach than any of the written material (outside maybe the online stuff), but apparently each successive one got less interest and publicity, so Lego just canned them.

I never tried to get a lego magazine subscription as a kid because I was just dumb I guess and didn't knew how that worked and figured you'd have to pay. But I somehow doubt that worked in every country, I'd assume it was mostly a US and Europe thing at most.

These are actually the McDonald's toys, I'm still working on getting the real Lego versions. The parts attach together with what is basically a soft rubber Technic pin(pic related), and surprisingly the feet fit (loosely) over a baseplate.

Alright I don't really post on this board and I don't know anything about anything /toy/ related generally speaking but I bought the OG toa on a nostalgiatrip a few weeks ago and was playing with them earlier tonight. I've noticed how stiff the white guy's shield hand feels and how I'd have to pull out and move the shoulder just to get it in various poses but when I gave the shield bit to Tahu it worked fine, since his arm bit was just the leg bit essentially. This is making me want to buy another white dude leg-bit to switch out his arm-bit.

Talk me out of this, /toy/. I know exactly what kind of deep hole I'm about to fall into if I do it.

I've seen these docs before. Cool ideas to be sure, but too intricate for Lego, and too many new parts would need to be introduced to create a system made to basically replace the one TLG has already poured time and resources into. Maybe some other company could pick it up.

That's an interesting read at least (and they managed to basically predict mixels joints hmmmm) but yeah there's so much there that has no chance of ever being made by TLG. >>6795165 has a point though, even though they're model kits Gunpla are engineered REALLY well, and the next constraction line (if it ever happens) would really benefit from either scaling back to Mixels joints (and expanding that system) to be able to do more intricate joints like Bandai can or treating CCBS and Mixels joints as two grades and really improving the compatibility between each.
