Mythic Legions: All-Stars 2.0 wave would be shipping to us in late Summer 2018, but it's possible that it may be as late as Fall/Winter 2018.

God damn you're purposely making this difficult.

None of that is contradictory. Any toy I can see in person, at a store, at a con, is always a preferred experience. I bought a shitload of Masters of the Universe Classics at Big Lots because I saw them in person and because they were cheap. It's all about impulse buys.

I knew the figures were going to be good because the 4H had produced dozens of already excellent figures that I owned. I trusted them and I had absolutely no problem putting down money to get the birds and MLs made. Nothing about that is contradictory. My past experiences provided me with a clear cut view on what kind of product I'm getting.

I bought blindly with the birds, and they rock. I bought ML series 1 blindly, and they rock. There is no reason for me not to trust them.

Here's what $50-70 toys looks like.
These are about as big as the troll, have more useable articulation, AND more articulation too.
For $100, the troll is completely lacking compared to even cheaper toys. This is not being a dick for no reason.

But it is.
You defend blind buys and then tell your entire experience of how good it is to buy them in person. This is the dictionary definition example of what contradictory means, especially when saying your past experience led you to buy them. A blind buy means you have no experience and in my case, the toys having so many flaws would erase all past experience because it shows how their current lines will be going forward.
When you have no products for years, nothing to show any good will, it's going to sour anyone. Hence companies like Boss Fight, MGR, etc doing a better job, because they have been releasing products on a regular basis, showing that they have improved or continue on track with consistently great quality.

Including NECA, since you want to use them as an example. If the 4H being sporatic in their releases sours anyone, they really don't need to be collecting at all.

Not him, but you're not understanding what we mean by blind buys. With imports, since it is mass produced, we can wait until reviews to come in. There's a period of 1-2 months at least where a newly released product will stay in stock at MSRP where any reasonable people can make an informed decision about their purchases. Even the hottest thing like Figma Pit stayed MSRP for at least 2 months before creeping up to rape price. Individual product may vary in paint detail and specific joint quality, but watching 1-2 review will generally give you a good idea about your product.

With 4H figures, if you want to wait until in hand review, the 1-2 months time window where you could make informed decision shrunk to 1-2 hours on specific time for their aftersale.

Here's a $30 figure that is roughly as articulated as these $45 figures.
This shows that 4H can do the same type of figures, even if they do cost more, but you're blindly defending their shitty inability to actually give yu your money's worth. As that other guy mentioned, they already put in the money to add the joints, yet they didn't bother to do anything to make them work better. That literally costs them NOTHING, but nope, somehow it's apples and oranges, despite other companies spending less money on their joints but putting more thught into them, thus making their own figures more poseable.

LOL, way to ignore that those two other companies are able to do regular releases and re-releases year round AND do their figures as a hobby/part-time job. They're exactly like 4H, except they put more effort into their side projects and actually give you your money's worth.

LOL, sorry, but the contradiction has you buying your 4H toys in person, ahving experience with them, and then going out and telling others that they shouldn't care. You had your cake and ate it too, and now you're telling everyone here that they should only blind buy.

And i buy imports all the time. I don't need to preorder shit, because i can buy figures in my area for about the same price as people on /toy/ do with the cost of shipping. So i can read people's impressions on /toy/ and choose to buy a figure or not, because import buying isn't a blind buy.
Maybe for people in bumfuck nowhere, but not city-folk.

Even fucking Mezco stuff I can buy within the month of its release, if not longer. I waited on Red Son Superman and Punisher, to see what people said.

And again, companies like MGR and BFS are able to sell their products without you needing to preorder everything, barring whatever exclusives, depsite coming from the same boat 4H was in.

pic of something i bought AFTER the figure was already released, because /toy/ made me aware it existed by someone posting it here. No collector mark up, because there are shops you can buy them at, same as Japan does. Toys aren't as rare as the only english import shops you know about.

really? I got em for 20 at TRU. Seems a bit expensive for what he is.

He's no statue, but in comparison he's really lacking. He's a great figure though, I'm glad to have him. I don't think ML are revoltech or anything, but they're a bit more expressive.
If they could make smarter paint app decisions and with the new leg disks they'd be much better figures.

This quote here is what defines a blind fanboy from a sane collector. We're arguing in circles but as you can see from previous threads 4H QC track record haven't exactly been stellar, as you and the 4H admit themselves, nor does any other toy companies have 100% track record. Even big companies like Figma who make excellent figures 90% of the time can botch a release here and there, example being Figma's Snake face and Figma Kiryu.

Not only you're putting a blind faith into a toy company, you're shouting down and shitposting other people who want 4H to get better by stocking more figures and move on from their retarded distribution scheme.

Not that anon, but having items in stock would probably be better for them. A lot of people aren't willing or able to drop hundreds at a time on a bunch of figures from the same line in pre-orders, and will avoid buying these because of it. Then you've got the people who don't trust stuff like kickstarter because they've been burned on it in the past. If they had at least a decent selection in-stock on their store those people could buy individual figures over time and in the long run 4H would make more money.

I'm not saying they should drop everything and work on filling up their warehouse so they have items in stock, but it should definitely be a goal of theirs to get to that point. Releasing almost exclusively through pre-orders and never having any in-stock items is really less than ideal for everybody.

If people knew ahead of time that the joints would be so loose, that the articulation was so bad, and the paint was scraping off like an unsealed walmart modeling paint, there would be far fewer sales.
So it is VERY consequential, not just to the consumer, but to 4H themselves. What's better for us is bad for them, so you're right that it's in their best interest to get your money first and say fuck you after its release.
If 4H had done it like they had been doing it before, 4H would have redone it like they did with their Ramathor wave, because they had to sell that wave in person and online where people could actually read impressions before buying them.

I'm not the 4H defender, but here's mine to chime in. I'm somewhere in between you guys. I'm disappointed in the range of motion for sure. I'm also wished that they showed us the range of motion for these trolls, and kinda regretted that I preordered them blindly.

However, considering that they only charge $15 for shipping (combined with other figures), plus the fact that these figures are fairly limited run I'm content with spending 100 bucks on him. If he was mass produced, I think the fair price point should be about 50 bucks + shipping. At the end of the day I'm still glad that I made the purchase considering how much the guy is scalped in the aftermarket. The troll is far from perfect, and considering the quality of other 4H figures I would put the troll in a "dud" category. However this speaks volume to the usual quality that people expect of 4H figures. It is unfortunate that the 1.0 flesh tone scraped, I got burned hard on my Atlus and Barbarian. However they improved it on the 2nd all star releases, as the knight barbarian guy (Cador) didn't have any paint scrape issue.

I am kind of on the 4H critic side, I do wish that these figures are more readily available, but duking these arguments out in cambodian jet ski imageboard would not yield into anything fruitful. Maybe we should take the discussion to the 4H official forum and duke it out there, in hope that some 4H member would listen.

But it is literally not good, maybe if you stop saying something that is so blatantly false we wouldn't jump on you. He can pull off 2 poses, neutral stance and one arm up trying to club something. His head swivel sideways so he looks like pic related and cannot look left/right. His elbow has been endlessly discussed, barely moves beyond 25 degrees. His ball jointed ankle doesn't work at all.

If you like it subjectively that's fine, but don't say something so blatantly false and misleading like the articulation is good.

I'm sure Cheetos Cyclop would be fine, as long as the base plastic is yellow/orange.It is a big problem with the stone troll because there is color gradation and the base plastic is pink. So all the grey part that scrapes turn into this ugly bare plastic pink.

Personally I'm done with having 1, foot-tall brick statue so I don't need the cheetos troll. I'm mildly cautious about the big berserker body that they have, we might get some repeat of janky articulation and paint scraping since it is a new body mold. I think I'll just eat the BBTS tax rather than risk it.

4H usually made around 5000 per figure (this seems to be the minimum number with china, considering this is a very common number for practically all exclusives) with exclusives for conventions, so going just by that, for such a large figure, he's easily within the sales of other larger figures from other niche lines.

Something like this is made up of a bazillion pieces and has working electronics and only costs like $20 more. Niche as fuck and about as large as the troll.
See also the mech, which is smaller, but still made up of a bazillion pieces which dictates the cost more than size (complex construction means costlier to assemble and more molds needed for all the pieces), hence its price being almost as much.

I still want them to do an actual production run of the Zoar and Screech Ravens they auctioned off years ago, and I'm not even a big fan of the Ravens.
I would guess Teela, Evil Lyn and Sorceress would be next, knowing their hard on for MotU

Top of my list would be
Boba Fett with 2.0 buck and either Grysha's head or the one that come with the female barbarian warrior
Red Riding Hood (stupid fans choice voters)
Bebop with the Boarrior head
Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Lego got away with the boar heraldry on one of their minifigs)
Speaking of Lego, a Black Falcon would be nice to do, since we already have a faction with a lion
Ganondorf would be sweet, or even Ganon complete with blue pig head.

If you're not hardcore on a particular scale, and not set on having fantasy armor I'd suggest pic related. The dismounted knight is due in July, not sure what it's gonna cost yet. Should be less than what the ML knights are going for on eBay, but I;m not sure by how much.

Not sure what this one goes for these days, and it's a bit dated stylistically, but it's an option.

Armor isn't just shiny metal. There's straps and whatever is poking through inbetween the plates.
Plus, some people like shading and other things done to their armor, to make it look realistic. Having it in miniature like that figure means shadows and lighting isn't going to play properly like you see on the real thing.

Hence modelers and higher end toys being painted up to look raelistic.
Even modern armor get patinas done on them and other things done ot them to mkae them look worn and used.

I wish it were so easy. I had to chop off the original joint and grind it down with a dremel, then I drilled out a hole in the shaft of the original chest, but I did a little too much so I had to repair it with a scrap of metal and superglue. I drilled it just big enough to fit the peg of a hobby joint I crammed up into his neck since his head didn't come with a joint. Hopefully this pic explains it a bit.

Also, just noticed Sauron shares the chest mold with the movie Lizard.

That is mine! I used 2in thick insulation foam for that. It comes in giant sheets, I was originally planning a big continuous display based loosely on the dark souls 1 map but decided the smaller ones would be good practice. I still want to make one based on firelink shrine though. I made this other dungeon one recently. Normally lizardguy doesn't live here though. The dungeon is 1in thick insulation foam mostly.

Mythic Legions is an original figure line by Four Horsemen. They primarily take preorders in the form of Kickstarter backers, but they also do a round of preorders just before/during the production run. It's basically all generic fantasy characters, including golbins, knights, skeletons, elves, dwarves, orcs, vampires, and more. They almost never sit in-stock when they release, as they usually only produce as many as there are preorders for that character (plus some extra and whatever is needed to round off to the nearest reasonable production number). Their articulation is pretty solid, quality is usually quite good (there was one small wave with loose joints, and some flashing on weapon plastic.) And who else is making generic Western fantasy toys?

If you want to buy figures from the current wave (2.0/Advent of Decay), there will be a pre-order period opened up fairly soon on their website. There will be no risk of them selling out during that period but if you miss it you will have a hard time ordering them later, or you'll pay the scalpers their pound of flesh. If you check in with these threads from tike to time or follow 4 horsemen on Instagram, I'm sure both will post about the preorders plenty.

I'd rate them as better than the one marvel legends I've owned, especially in the paint apps department. They use a slightly softer plastic, and they try to mold in the base color whenever possible it seems.

The price also represents how small the line is. With larger-scale production comes savings, but they can't produce at that kind of scale. Maybe more specific questions would be better, it's kind of hard to compare them on literally all bases.

Oh also I forgot to mention, they are very easy to swap parts on since they use standardized parts. Basically any place there's a joint can easily be swapped with the same part from another figure in the line.

Well, the Bog Goblin is kinda froggish in a dwarf build, but the preorder for the All Stars 2 wave ended already. Drayleeon and Archaeopterix are reptilianish birds and they are still in stock.

As far as I know, the Elf Legion Builder is still coming with the Sword/Spear/Dagger combo, in addition to all three head options and the bow/quiver set. We've seen paint masters of some figures coming with four accessories and multiple heads, while others only came with three so if it's listed as is, it's most likely going to come with all that gear.

I don't want to see another Kickstarter unless it is for something major, like mounts or some shit. I would rather see 3-4 waves a year consisting of 8-12 figures. After what they raised in the last KS, they should have enough of a budget to start introducing a few small parts to add to the lineup per wave.
The birds got 13 new heads without a Kickstarter. We should be able to get a bunch of parts like lizard man heads, robed bodies, and different armor parts to add to the library without us needing to fund the molds.
I was happy to help get the line off the ground with the Kickstarter model, but I don't think I can be fucked going all in for a third time unless it is for something seriously major. Just making one full new mold figure in either size would be enough to mix and match a dozen new figures with minimal new tooling.

Having said that, the Trolls and the upcoming Ogres are being produced without KS support, so they can and do create new things without crowdfunding. New parts and pieces aren't out of the question, especially since they supposedly have some as of yet unreleased new heads being produced. If they do a third KS, it'll probably be for mounts with some new figures mixed in.

There are many companies that exist that can provide consumers with products without paying up front and those products are made more than once a year.
This is how almost every toy that /toy/ buys is produced and made by successful companies and it's what is being asked from 4H, who apparently can't do that because.... and i get why, because 4H sat on a ton of product for years and years without anyone buying it, so they're paranoid now.
If i were them, i'd probably do the same filling that niche for a tiny niche group, because that's all they can sustain.

The Trolls and Ogres are straight pre-orders, neither had any kind of quantity limitation. And every collector based toy company does pre-orders, that's not new, different or unique. They even had a supply of trolls in their store for a while after they arrived, which I'm sure will happen with the Ogres too.

I've been saying since day one that they should always maintain a stock of figures in their store and that they should stick to smaller 4-8 figure waves with each release. For the most part, they do choose the the latter, as most waves between KS were small, but unfortunately they refuse to do the former. Seeing as they still have a bunch of wave 2 birds in stock, I can see their point of view, but I still feel the Legions wouldn't shelfwarm as easily as some of the birds did.

But if they still manage to come out with great figures on a quasi regular basis, then I really don't care how they do it. I'm patient and they have a good track record with me so I have no problems waiting on Pre-orders and Kickstarters.

First off, the orges do require a limited number to be preordered. This is what they were saying at SDCC.

Remainder sales are extremely limited.

I agree with this. Kickstarter was good to get the line off the ground, and to see how much demand there was. Even the second KS was justified for the amount of new tooling they did. Now they know what the demand is, and they should know that even if they pump up production numbers by 20%, shit will still sell out. That only happened for the Powerlords figures, because they weren't confident in the demand for the line. And they were right. They didn't want a repeat of 7th Kingdom.
They did say in the first KS, that they would look at keeping the Legion Builders in stock as evergreen items, and they fucked that up right off the bat by failing to produce enough skellies and silver dwarves to fulfill their KS backer orders, which is why they were so in demand for All Stars 2.
Personally, I don't think they should over produce every single figure to keep them in stock, but for the Legion Builders that are obviously popular, they really should bump up the production numbers, which they are apparently doing for the All Star LBs, or at least the Templar, from what I heard. I would chuck in a few Templars, skellies, or orcs with every wave I ordered if they had them in stock.

But I'm glad I missed the nostalgia train for that exercise in self flagellation, since I hated their business model, where you pay for a subscription, and preorder, and months down the track you would get figures that had the shoulders assembled backwards, or some other retarded QC fuck up they would never fix.
And not just here and there, but the ENTIRE run of Roboto, and some others I can't remember. That, and it was going to cost some stupid price per figure including shipping since I live at the arse end of the world.
Having said that, I am now looking at getting the Snake Men, and some Horde dudes that would fit in with my Legions.

Minimum number seems to be 5000 across the board. Do a simple google search and you'll see how common that number is for every company. Logic dictates that they did the same shit before.

They don't bother to market their toys outside of their regular haunts and they continue to blunder along doing the same old shit, expecting success with their He-Man fanbase. There was almost no hype or even mention of them in 1:18 communities, even here on /toy/.
So being animals of habit, what do you think they're going to do with the Power Lords license? It'll be a miracle if they continue it as a 1:18 line and actually show how much support it needs by putting it on Kickstarter along with a graph.

I remember that I decided not to preorder them, because I figured not that many people would be crazy enough to preorder a couple of $100 rotocast figures from a line that hadn't even see one figure get released yet. Turns out I was right, and the trolls were available for ages afterwards, and only sold out in their most recent warehouse finds sale, though the Forest Troll was listed as sold out for a while prior to that.
Maybe you remember posting some campaign here to get them produced because you were under the mistaken assumption that they might not get made.
Fact is, you haven't been able to provide proof backing your assertion.
I could post every KS update between SDCC 2015, and the end of the preorder for 1.5, which ended mid March 2016, just to show you that they never made that statement official. And their KS updates were where 99% of the info for the line was being posted.
Yeah, they do post on other forums, and they say some shit at cons that never eventuates, like Adamon coming with shoulder pauldrons, which never eventuated when they got released for Powercon last year, and has never been shown in any of the updates or IG photos.
But convention hearsay is different to an Official statement.
Like I said, that's pretty important information to omit when you are trying to produce something new.
So either shit, or get off the pot. Post proof. Either a KS update, a Youtube vid, or a post from their forum, not your imagined campaign from this board.

Logic dictates that there must be minimum orders and 4H isn't one to eat costs anymore, because they don't even do simple redecos without getting people to preorder them first.
For LARGE toys that requires brand new molds? How the hell does that even make sense with 4H anymore?

And limited editions vary in number. The 10,000 I stated for Hasbro was from over 10 years ago, when someone found out the production run for one of the convention exclusives.
Hot Toys LEs are usually 500-1000, which usually consists of an exclusive accessory included with the LE. Sideshow Bruce Lee had an LE of 500, with the exclusive item being an alternate head.
MP-10 Convoy Eva was limited to 1000.
There are many figs that have had runs limited to 200, such as KISS Christmas Editions.
As stated in this article, it depends on the factory, and some factories will do a run as low as 150, but it increases the price per unit.

Try doing some research instead of comparing Hasbro, which obviously has higher production numbers, to 4H, which as you have said from the amount of people at their booth at cons, have obviously much lower production numbers. Of course 4H aren't going to eat costs, which is why it seems pretty obvious that the trolls, and hell, even the entire of 1.5, had much lower production numbers than the first KS, as shown by the stupid prices on Illgar and Pixxus in the secondary market, probably because a few cunts like me were sketchy about preordering more figs for a line that hadn't even gotten the 30+ figures from the first KS into our hands yet.

Not everyone said they don't have issues. Nearly everyone except the 4H dickrider has acknowledged the issues with the paint on the first run of Atlas and the trolls, the limited motion of the troll's elbows, and the mixed QC on the 1.75 wave.
