I think we'll get a vintage Magneto, or at the very least a re-release of the Jubilee wave one, in the next vintage wave. Hasbro hinted at a Toy Biz X-Men inspired vintage wave last year around SDCC or Hascon.

so I got my Spider-Man Noir and I noticed that he had has a tear in his coat, is there any good way to fix this?

Also, the guns he comes with are absolute shit, they dont go with the figure at all and they dont fit in his hands properly, giving him those instead of revolvers like he has in the comics is just lazy

I don't know why, but knowing that the MCU Mandarin figure will finally get released has me really excited. I guess the general lack of Iron Man villain figures doesn't help but even with the twist (which I didn't mind), it's just a really interesting concept and design compared to other MCU stuff.

Just last month I decided I would make this version of Kaine as my first custom and then this gets announced. I even picked out the same body that Hasbro did by picking up a cheap Sunfire off eBay. Not really. The high end SHF releases couldn't sell (outside of the original MMPR guys who have massive nostalgia attached) and the "Legacy" releases they've been doing lately, which are basically the equivalent of Marvel Legends, haven't been doing so well either, to the point where Bandai seem to have lost the licence over them. Plus there's the constant struggle of "toys of girls dont sell!".

It'll be interesting to see what Hasbro do with the licence.

Concerns: the marionette rings are kind of a hard rubber, and if you use the glove enough they will give you blisters.
The marionette rings are also pretty hard to pull after awhile, so if you’re planning to hold a beer all night, you’re gonna get tired.
The digits are also not comparable to one’s own grip strength, so you can’t really hold anything that requires actual grip strength. A beer can is fine because you can rest it on the glove’s ring finger and kind of rest keep it in place with the index, middle, and thumb digits.

It’s got no on/off switch, so if you’ve got the 3 AAs in it, it’ll turn on when you pull the finger rings or press the yellow gem on the back of the hand. The rings are very touchy, too, so if you budge them even a millimeter, the primary sound FX will play, but you have to pull the rings a half inch or so to get the finger clinking sound. They really should have put in a switch under the plate that hides the battery compartment.

My solution to the loudness was to put two pieces of electrical tape over the speaker. It decreased the volume to acceptable levels and won’t leave any residue whenever I go to remove it.

This shit has been a standard clause for these types of movies since the 90s.

It's not like 80s films, where they didn't think they could get a giant toyline made out of the Alien movies, so they didn't even bother getting any likenesses, especially when toys had such mushy sculpts back then.

They can use your likeness for almost anything they want without paying you an extra penny and they're also forced to go around promoting that shit with a giant smile on their face like its the best thing ever.

So the reason that they suck at likeness is because they suck. You can't expect an A sculpt everytime. See also how many failures Hasbro has had with Han or Luke. They have had completely perfect sculpts before, yet they don't even reuse those for whatever reason, despite going digital since around 2009, even when physical sculpts were made (they scan them).

Also of note, I think putting the orange eye head on the blue body makes it a nice little visual homage to this old Toy Biz Ghost Rider figure, which I had as a kid and loved, so in that regard it improves the blue body for me as well.

Again, there's no way that Chris Evans, a basic nobody before Captain America (which didn't perform all that well in theaters until Civil War), would have gotten away from signing a very generic contract that gets their likeness rights, just like with every movie Marvel has been making.

I'd have said that they captured his likeness fine with some of his toys, but they're not perfect, like we've seen with other toys Hasbro has sculpted.

But keep thinking Chris Evans was somehow able to outsmart Marvel in some manner or he had any pull like Anthony Hopkins or Sigourney Weaver would have. SW is actually very difficult to get shit made from her and Mattel had to play nice by not including any weapons with her toy.. oh wait.
It's almost like movie actors have no choice once they sign away their likeness rights in standard movie contracts.

Seriously, if Chris Evans or anyone could have gotten a better deal, they'd sooner not go to stupid shit conventions and toy fairs to market the stupid shit ilke grinning shit eating corporate shills, than not have toys made after them. Again, i thought the sculpts are fine. They're not great like you see with pretty much every figure out there, but that doesn't mean they don't have his likeness right.

Again, almost every movie out there has the actors signing shit so that their face can be plastered onto everything.
No modern action movie won't have that stipulated into their contracts, unless the actor has a lot of pull to get the contract down however they want. Someone like RDJr had so much pull that he was able to get the rest of the Avengers better contracts (monetary value as far as we know), yet he still shills products and has his face plastered onto everything (and he probably gets more money from that too)

I'd like to see proof that is contrary to what we know is a standard clause in nearly every action movie contract.
I know that /toy/ used to believe that likeness rights were seperate, but only because most of what we hear is from NECA trying to get rights from 80s and 70s movies before nearly every movie started getting a toyline and making actors sign away their face for use in cereal boxes and novelty soaps.

I think so too, which is why I’m eager to get the new figure with the bike. My plan was to swap the heads and use the old figure with the chain and bike as my main Ghost Rider. And for the blue body I want to use the old head and the flame effect back piece from the Green Goblin BAF, and I’ll pose him in an “exploding from within” type pose to emulate that old Toy Biz figure in a sense.

But, ramblings aside, thanks for all of the visual help once again. It is much appreciated.

That means everything they've been producing since 2013 has been in thelir licensing deal since 2013 until 2020. Nothing can change without another renegotiation, because why would it? I wouldn’t place blame on the sculptors, moreso the paint deco process. Custom makers have proven that there are good sculpts underneath a lot of Marvel figures based on real people, just that the painting process usually removed a lot of that underlying detail. They haven’t been able to reliably paint the faces as detailed as they have in the prototype stage with hand painting, and it’s only starting to see a turnaround with the newer face paint printing technology.

I prefer legends overall just due to the turn around rate for characters. I love hot toys but by the time the figure comes out the movies been out on dvd for a year and the sequel trailer is out by then

For some odd reason the Chinese have been doing really good jobs at bootlegging old toy biz figures. They did an extraordinarily good job reproducing Spider-Hulk, FFF, toy biz dp with all his accessories including doop, the first hasbro dp figure, and a slew of other toy biz molds. They even jury rig some of these molds into new characters. They used that one SMC Venom to make toxin. It's pretty cool.

You don't seem to understand how this works and how they cannot sign over indefinite use of a persons likeness or image. These things are likely looked at in a case by case basis and not so strictly tied to the movie. It's very possible Feige signed on Chris Evans to make films and did not make him grant use of his image to hasbro. Ike would probably not appreciate that. Chris Evans has been excused from promotional material at times and not required to go to premires. Personally, I think the likeness is a hasbro issue and not a Chris Evans issue. You speak of this as if companies just utterly fuck actors all the time when there have been plenty of actors who have very strong control over their image in toys.

Not bad, but I think I actually see where they went wrong now as a result of this. They tried to compensate for how thick/large the neck is/traps are and ended up bungling it pretty hard instead of just shrinking that a little or something.

Anyone else's Killmonger got a stuck joint? The right shoulder is way too tight to consistently move and I just know the peg for the arm is getting stressed each time I even try to budge it. That's how I feel about most of the new characters finally getting made in the First Ten Years sets. The figures we're getting now are so much better than what I'm sure we would have gotten at the time, so the wait was worth it.
