A decade ago, 3rd party stuff would be seen as the inferior product. Now, they are generally better products compared to official stuff, mainly due to them actually knowing what fans want.
Look at Transformer toys. 3rd party toys are made and engineered for the fans BY the fans, so their is a much higher level attention to detail/accuracy. Official products are dumbed-down so kids are able to transform it, along with an actual part-count limit imposed on each figure.
