>>6816284>Whats toy shopping like in the UK Its most certainly a mixed bag. Toys R Us was for many years a go to place for the latest toys but similar to what's happened in the US (or so I've been told) TRU have basically gotten sloppy in their business practices which has allowed its competitors here, The Entertainer and Smyths Toy Stores, to take a bit of a lead on them, offering either a better selection of toys or offering the same toys at better prices. That and unlike TRU, these companies haven't been shy to expand onto the high street, with TRU seemingly firmly rooting itself in out of town units.
As for other options you do have department stores, but the selection they have is somewhat limited. They'll have all the mainstays but anything that isn't immediately popular seems to get shunned by most department stores. On the plus side some department stores seem to sell off their old toy stock at quite the discount meaning you can sometimes grab a bargain if you're lucky. Supermarkets are very much of the same.
Regarding niche and 'premium' toys, you'll have to be lucky enough to live near a comic book shop or a similar specialist retailer. Failing that there is always the internet, although one could suggest that's the direction a lot of retail is going nowadays.
In short TRU collapsing isn't a big deal for buying toys, there are plenty of companies waiting to step in when TRU firmly kicks the bucket.
