I never got the Ventress or Durge comic packs, due to living in a shithole country according to the Hasbro distribution model.
I did do my own Durge like you said, minus the Obsession comic pack head. The open winged jetpack wouldn't quite fit on the more articulated body, and needed some modding, but it was worth it.
My current housemate didn't even know that Durge was a separate character from Grievous, he thought he was Grievous pre-cyborg form when I showed him Genndy's Clone Wars.
Ephant Mon is still one of the best figures they ever made, and was something I had wanted since completing the RotJ sticker book when I was a kid.
I went nuts on RotS figures. It was the only midnight madness I went to, and I spent a fuckload just on Clones and royal Guards that year.
