Then Disney happened. And it will never stop.

Oh, I got a complete Vintage Yakface in a lot of vintage for about $75 once. Felt real good about that.

Do waves count?
I ordered Wave 9 for Revan. I did want the other figures though. I paid £140?

I try to keep the collecting underwraps. I didn't regret it because they are all solid figures although Revan isn't worth nearly as much now but at the time I made the right choice.

I've brought some of the Six inch multipacks- the Guard pack was £100 and again felt a little guilty over that one but they are all good figures although slightly irritating.

Single figures- I paid £30 for Han Solo, £30 for the Shoretrooper. I don't like spending that much but needed the figures.

For 3.75" I think it's £25 for TVC Malgus.

But yes I know I have a problem and if someone found out they would be shocked.

The worst part of this is seeing the argument that because these were Walmart exclusive, not everybody got them.

Walmart is fucking everywhere. The people who don't have one nearby and genuinely wanted any of these have been able to get them for cheap on eBay for years. There's no excuse for front-loading the TVC revival with figures that are already known pegwarmers. I get that they can't afford to make every single one a brand new figure but if you're going to do reissues to save money go for stuff that hasn't already been clogging the pegs since 2015. There's a lot of older shit that nobody was able to get when it came out that would've been a better candidate than Jyn "peg poison in every incarnation" Erso.

Hasbro's mindset for figure selection has always been "main character = big seller" even though this never actually works. It bit them in the ass hard in 2016 when they started sending solid cases of 6 inch Jyn and Cassian to stores and to this day stores can't get rid of them even on clearance.

Hasbro just has this baffling habit of never, ever learning from their mistakes.

I think you're wrong partly. Normies aren't going to look for these exclusives and I doubt they know they exist. Talking to store employees they mention why there aren't TVC quality figures anymore and I tell them they went to another store. They didn't know.
Anecdotal evidence- TVC sold very well in my area with many colllectors meaning It was always a struggle to get them. For TBS it never sold through and I got everything I wanted without trying. These people couldn't have disappeared in such huge quantities.

Oh look, another retard. The point is that it has nothing to do with the v shape. Every successful toy KS has various things that this doesn't have, like a slow but steady growth in the midsection. Some that have passed have gotten by on 20-50 backers a day, but they weren't for $500 pledges with a 5000 backer goal. This needs/needed 80+ backers a day after the initial few launch days of excitement to make it a safe bet. Now it will be a panicky gloom and doom slog to the finish with everyone hoping for the final couple of days to just barely push it over the top. It's either going to fail, or barely going to make it across. It's not a runaway success whatsoever. Even tougher to consider is that every successful toy KS that has the v shape that idiots are counting on for the 2X $ the first couple of days made were KS for entire toylines based around stretch goal unlocks and army builders. This has no add ons and no incentives for any backer to put in extra money, which is where large portions of those late pushes come from. If you disagree with anything written here then you are a retard.

He was also my first Black Series figure and I am really happy that the guy is getting solid cases for the less fortunate people. One thing I prefer about Black Series compared to 3 inch is that there is no chase figure you need to pay out the ass for.

I wonder if I should get a second Revan as insurance so I can try modding the cape/hood, I remember someone already did something like this and posted his results here but I haven't saved any pics sadly.

Never trust estimates, because all of them are wrong, because it ignores how V-shaped these types of investments are.

There's almost no one who buys into a kickstarter because of where it'll end up with unlocked add ons anyway.

I remember /co/ having a nice giant thread about Wakfu's kickstarter where people were complaining that people should stop funding it, because every stretch goal that was unlocked kept on pushing back its release months at a time, because of new content that would be created.

Hasbro usually says that the adult collector market is about 8% of who buys their toys, so if there's millions of kids buying their crap, the collector market would be at least 80k... which is in tune with what I've heard are the production numbers are for collector lines like by NECA or even Figmas
No matter what the number is, it's undoubtedly large (especially for the Star Wars franchise) and it only takes a small percentage of that to afford the pricier toys like Jabba's Barge.

There are very few kickstarters that are runaway successes, hence my use of examples of /toy/ related ones that weren't ensured right away.

You're expecting too much, especially when you're ignoring the fact that a vast majority of people don't care to put in their money until they really have to.
One risk in that is that a lot of people don't put their money in because they're afraid it won't succeed, so why bother? It's a bandwagoning effect, in a way.
A lot of kickstarters only get kickstarted once they hit that goal, and then you really see pledges coming in. Time and time again, this happens, which is why part of why i believe that most people don't even care about stretchgoals.

I bet he is too far along to be cancelled so he will probably end up exclusive for some other retailer or not exclusive at all.
Even in the unlikely worst case scenario that he won't be available in the US the figure is still slated for release in Europe/Asia where all exclusives are available for every retailer, so a TRU exclusivity arrangement probably won't change a thing and you can probably still get him for 40€+.

While TLJ did underperform toy-wise this guy's TRU is in general a huge flop. None of the TRU's around me have Playmotion shit left, or Infinity. They sold them all on deep clearance. They failed but the degree this guy's TRU carries shit shows a clear flaw in their management. The Diva dolls at my local TRU have about two-three pegs at most. They're not selling but, again, the degree his TRU is carrying this shit shows there's a lot of flawed management.

The dolls did yeah. The action figures, and lego were kind of a failure but the dolls are doing well. Well enough that DC is launching an entire graphic novel imprint in hopes to cater to the fans.

I think the action figures were always a no-sale but the legos would have done better if they didn't use the friend-style minifigure. They should have been compatible with the regular DC legos.

Except it would have added unnecessary bloat and it would have wasted the knights entirely. The scene was tense enough from the death of Snoke adding more conflicting feelings would have been overkill. If anything needed to be changed it should have been Kylo succeeding at killing Snoke on his first attempt.

I mean, that was obvious. Sgt Bric said that in thier debut episode. I meant 99 was a good channel for our hopes and dreams for the rookie squad; just as he was rooting for them too. And you see him later on with the ARC promotion, until his death that is just all too common in the clone wars (duh).

Also no. I think Hevy got a release inntraining gear, maybe some of the other ones that dies in regular clone armor. I don't think the entire squad got released one way or another. They only released ARC troopers in the battlepack and Blitz alone. With so little use a lot of CW collectors thought it would just make sense to make Echo and Fives out of it. Hasbro instead released well-known characters that really just pegwarmed and was seen as the final nail in the coffin right before the limited release of Phase 2 Rex and a few others in, like, 5POA.

this! 6 inch is doing okay to well, but 3.75 has been on life support since black series began. I think Mara Jade was the last figure out of left field that was really good (not great, but good). The CW clones in black series were almost statueshit and the new TVC wave is just rereleases and snoke who is a literal who after TLJ.

I bought the figure first and only read the novel much later (along with other tpm-era novels) after accidentally being sucked into EU material. I heard someone else describe him as "space soros" which is not too far off. In all fairness though he is a pretty cool, nuanced villain and the perfect mentor for Palpatine. You can freely display him with TPM oriented stuff because he's alive during that movie. Now all they need to do is remake San Hill haha.

Got my hands on a painted Casting Cave Luke head and decided to dirty him up a bit to fit the kind of conditions he lived in.

Also had a spare SHF saber laying around so I think he looks pretty damn good. Considering getting a Rickhor robe to replace the garbage one he came with.

TRU in mainland Europe is still operational enough to open new stores and they said they would concentrate on these stores to stay alive. Worst case scenario you can import him for 40 bucks + shipping from there.
But I assume some other retailer will get him in the US or he will just be free to order for everybody, it’s not like they are not going to use the tooling. Like the Probe Droid that was designed in 2012 and released just now, life will find a way.

Tamiya,paint and airbrush. I use masking tape to do the designs and then clear coat once painted/weathered. I based the new clone off some random 501st marking chart. I chose the Sharpshooter for him.

I really want to do Echo and Fives, but their designs need the ARC trooper gear, so I need to grab a couple of Rex's to sacrifice.

For sure, but there's already been a sudden bump in numbers on the amount of people ordering the Barge now, since the announcement of an exclusive figure. If they packed in like one or two more, I think it'd really grease the wheels. Maybe more crew for the ship? Or a new Boba Fett with that recent 5poa version's head sculpt on it. Shit like that would bring in the orders.

I paid 22e for mine + shipping on some obscure german website. (I live in finland). I might have paid more for it since I was making a jedi diorama thing. This was around a year and a half ago.

Where do you live and what kind of prices are you seeing? I've seen it go pretty high.

Is her character popular now? I liked how her story ended in the Vader comic, though Luke's inheritance doesn't feel all that uplifting given what the sequel trilogy actually did with his Jedi.

I kinda want to fill that gap in the collection.
Bringing characters back was something the EU was blasted for (how many jedi survived the purge in the EU? Answer alot) and it's weird to see them do it again in canon.

I read the comic and it was silly., lightsaber gun and all. But it was fun.

Also there's pictures of the painted sail barge now.

Well, the current Vader book takes place only a few years after RotS, so having some stragglers feels a little more appropriate. Granted, there's also dumb shit like Kanan and Ezra in Rebels, but so it goes.

I just never expected Jocasta Nu to ever get much focus. At this rate that figure will get reissued.
