That would be pretty nice too.
I've got my hands pretty full already since I ended up designing about 15 MSE files of YGO after the bonkle autism kicked in, but there seem to be a few MTG engines that support custom scripts, so maybe someone else will pick up that idea at some point. Might even do it myself if I feel the need for variety.

A lot of people use these but they're typically not too durable or dont have much tension in them. Worst case, you can order white rubber bands directly from Lego, they come in packs of 4 iirc.

A ugly as some of the models are, I don't mind that they've been given more color variety, like Lewa's yellow or Onua's different grays. At least it's not garish or tacky, tho Pohatu's dark orange bits look a tad off.

now that the legend of mata nui has been leaked, I've been researching bionicle a lot lately (I'm a guy that used to fucking love it as a kid; my first lego technic was Gali) and although I was naturally less critical back then and ate it all up at least until the Toa Hordika stuff and to a lesser extent the underwater sets, I now realize that the series was ruined fucking way before that. It died in 2003 once they stopped using techno music and replaced it with orchestral shit with the animated movie. In fact, I don't really like Toa Nuva either if I'll be completely honest. The masks aren't very appealing. I don't like that the bionicles started talking with human voices. Metru-nui was definitely a step in the right direction visually I think.

The menu music in the cancelled Bionicle game is what Bionicle is all about. As is mnog 1 and mnog 2 and their cutscenes. Shit like that was great.

This franchise had a lot of potential. It could have evolved beyond lego.

But anon, Nathan Furst's music for the movies was god-tier. Sure, it didn't follow Lego's original description of Bonkle's music that they laid out in 2001. But it's good and stands on its own.

On that note, the interesting thing about 2001 is that what we now accept as the genesis and the "true face" of Bionicle wasn't what Lego had originally planned either. They never had a coherent vision for the franchise, hence why we got stupid semi-filler arcs like the Bohrok-Kal and the entirety of 2005. They originally wanted the franchise to be like the scrapped game; the islanders and the Toa busting out dance moves, doing chores for the Tohunga and fighting cheesy mud monsters and fire dragons and shit, with everything being lighthearted and goofy like all other Lego lines. That was the actual "real" Bionicle, because that was what Lego had planned. But it's not what we got because the game got canned, so it isn't how we now look back on Bionicle.
As for MNOG, which I agree is fantastic and arguably the best single piece of media to have come out of the brand, it only turned out so good and became so influential by accident, because Lego had no clear idea of what Bionicle should be like. They were banking on the PC game, but after they realized it was shit, they glanced at MNOG and pretended that was what they wanted to make. So in conclusion, I kinda lost track of what I wanted to say, but I guess point is there hardly ever was a "real" Bionicle. It was always a disjointed, disorganized mess of ideas built around a core foundation, and the fact that they stopped sticking to one specific style of music was hardly indicative of the series jumping the shark. It only indicates that Lego was always open for taking Bionicle into different directions than what they had envisioned at the start, and while not all of those directions were good, not all were bad either.

I agree the Nuva look bleh and that Metru Nui was good.

Onua's claws were always his hands. Gali's hooks were her hands originally, but later they've been retconned to being tools and she's supposed to have hands with fingers.

I don't understand how Galidor could had been appealing enough for fans to remember it. Up until SW constraction's probable cancelation I had the suspicion that that one crazy Galidor fan had a hand in G2's demise so his favourite line could be rebooted. Well the reboot decade has been an immense case of wish corruption, so if it turns out to be true then he will have sowed his own punishment.

The Toa Metru were great toys. I wasn't very disappointed by the lack of articulation of the Toa Mata because of the era (with most toys being 5 poa plus I considered them gimmick oriented instead of action figurey), but they certainly would had been a lot better with knees and elbows. The metru introduced those, plus neck articulation and a firmer mask connection. The builds that followed had those too, but they also had those freakish long arms and a larger size (I prefer small). The metru lower arm should had been a mainstream part back then.

I never liked the Metru builds that much for two reasons. Their colors are too drab for me, though Lhikan and the two Hagah rectify this. What always bothered me more is how small their chest-section is, and how the super thin arm connections and awkward flattened "stomach" ruin their silhouette and clash with their otherwise complex, "filled-out" look. They look emaciated from the front. I actually liked their movie designs more for how those bulked up their torso armor and added some color variety, though I'm not too sure how to feel about Nokama's movie cleavage.

Hah! I know what you mean. That and the lack of ball-jointed shoulders are my only issues with the Metru.
Personally I liked the drab colours and I was unhappy when they were dropped after the Karda Nui arc. The more vibrant colours didn't fit the toy designs and made the toys feel too kiddy. G2 kinda made the vibrant colours work by untilizing a better and more diverse palette. Like for example how Lewa had yellow on him to contrast the green.

To be fair, the Vahki animations theme was just the reused Makuta MNOG theme. So they had stopped producing fresh new techno tracks as early as 2001-2002. Then of course in 2005 they went full on punk rock.

Metrus were good designs and metru nui was a pretty cool setting, I will agree. However I am sad they were more muted in terms of color and the only "secondary" color they had was boring grey. Don't get me wrong, the dark blue and crimson and shit are really nice colors.

What are the best Bionicle stop motion videos and/or series? The Cannister Wasteland videos still hold up as being fucking excellent, and when I was younger I was big into stuff like the Hydros Chronicles.

Even though I understand completionism and purism, I still think wanting that golden ignika is a bad idea. It's rare, expensive and ugly. The yellow one on the other hand is common, cheap and very nice. Mine is among my favourite LEGO pieces.

The G1 parts pool was the largest it ever was, with 2006 being the last major update, and the series as a whole had reached its maturity as far as techniques and complexity are concerned. Some could argue that the best large sets were the oldest one (2001 Rahi), but to me the posability and colour schemes of 2006-onwards titans is unbeatable.

It's odd, a few years ago I would've said the Mata era was my favorite in terms of almost everything, but these days I crave the Ignition arc's visual style more. Maybe the heavy exposure to a Mata-lite style we got thanks to HF and G2 (cleaner shapes, brighter colors, etc) made me realize that I've been an edgelord all along, and that I miss the dark colors, the grittiness and the overdesigned Masks more than anything.
