Yeah, there's already a KB thread, but it's become the Bitterness General.
The articles I've seen about the proposed new KB (like this one: http://money.cnn.com/2018/03/20/news/companies/kb-toys-toys-r-us/index.html )say that the plan is to open a bunch of pop-up stores in time for Christmas, and then maybe turn the ones that perform well into permanent locations.
That first part is really fascinating, though. It looks like they intend to follow the model of modern Halloween stores, finding an empty building or lot, setting up shop there, and packing up and leaving when the season's over.
This could have huge implications. They might be able to charge less than other retailers if they've got lower overhead (temporary location and employees), but the question with that is, what are they going to do with overstock? I've seen yearly Halloween stores that have power ranger costumes from five shows ago that are never going to move, so how would this model sell last years toys?
