Just saw this on Robo and I can’t find more information besides a Fwoosh thread but it looks like Coo Model, a Chinese 1:6 scale company, might have beaten Revoltech to the punch with this Templar knight.

That’s very different armor from a different period, you can get both.
I do prefer this, Revoltech is usually a smaller scale and has an ugly joint system. This is how I always envisioned the ideal 1:12 knight line.

It's due to come out in May or June, I think. It looks pretty cool but it'll probably run at about $50. The armor is Gothic fullplate, if that makes a difference to you.

I don't know how people keep missing this. They go to so much effort to make a figure, then forget what might be the most important bit of engineering to allow it to do dynamic posing easily.

Their intent is for this line to be the Mezco One:12 of historical figures. Looking at what they’ve done in 1:6 I would love to see those shrunk down to 1:12.
This certainly appeals more to me than Mezco’s capeshit focused line.

I really like the look and size of this figure.
The weathering looks good and the choice of using cloth on this figure seems right.
Only problem is the lack of ankle articulation
Not to be a mythic legion fanboy but their templar has that and also looks just as good in the process
ML is a bit on the bigger size but it works

It's interesting seeing 1/6 scale companies getting into 1/12s. What's strange, though, is them skipping on ankle pivot. It's not like it breaks up the sculpt too much. Even cheapo garbage has that.

I predicted if Mezco’s had success with One:12 other companies would follow their example.
It’s logical for 1:6 companies to get in on making 1:12 clothed figures since it’s just shrinking down what they were already doing.
I think most 1:6 figures with boots don’t have ankle articulation either, so this is probably a symptom of seeing 1:12 clothed figures as shrunken down 1:6 figs.
Mezco wasn’t a 1:6 figure maker so their figures are more like traditional sculpted 1:12 figures and usually do have ankle rockers.

That process is a bit more involved than you think. They don't just make a 1/6 thing and put it into a shrink ray. Designs can stay the same but manufacturing would have to change.

Yeah, but not really. They had lace up shoes like a loose moccasin (often with a fashionably pointy toe) and boots akin to leather ugg boots that would either tighten with a buckle at the ankle or lace up on the outer side of the leg. That boot desu resembles a modern desert combat boot (laces starting just behind the toes, rounded toecap, high tongue, thick sole without notable heel), which they didn't have.

The flex of those kinds of boots is clear when in actual movement, like when you run there would be enough room and give to allow for that movement, otherwise people would just fall over in boots (try running with your feet stiff, it doesn't work). The feet here don't have to have a super deep pivot or upward range, but they should still be able to move (assuming they're actually static through the boot).

Your feet and ankles move inside the boots and isn't always shown. It's why i posted that picture, because it's using older boot technology. It's a minor motion.

You're OCDing out over little tiny details that don't matter.
If these were robots that moved on their own and wanted to use their limbs as your own, i'd understand your concern, but as toys, where it's completely natural to not show any range down there, you need medicated help.

Not really, because something are important and integral for the character.
People have been enjoying toys long before there were ankle joints and people enjoy toys today with only the most miniscule amount of motion to their ankles.

Again, most people already use stands for their toys, so what's the point of adding a few degrees of motion that almost no one pays attention to anyway? Almost most of the time, they don't even need stands, because the ankles really aren't that important for most poses without stands.

Nah, just stay away from buying muh awesome toys. We're better off without people like yourself adding to the scarcity of awesome figures such as this.

This was actually a major criticism of the line, and they've specifically been working to improve it. Deathstroke has WAY more ankle range because of the complaints.

Its been talked about in most of the mezco threads here, and people were celebrating the improvements with deadpool's ankles on their facebook page.

Again, they haven't been working to fix this by accident. They recognized it was an issue that needed addressing and addressed it, and no amount of playing pretend from you is going to make that effort they've been putting in to that go away.

I just went through 15 or so MEzco threads in the archive and less than half mention ankles and the majority of them are about Judge Dredd's ankles.
Basically, no one gives a shit, despite the release of 2 dozen figures released so far.

From non-Judge Dredd figures, only the most recent threads have mentioned ankles more often and that's about how they've improved on Spider-Man.

Criticism about ankles is rare, because most people do not give a shit.

Almost no one knew about using printed decals to stick onto action figures, yet DCC started using them, despite the fact that they had some of the best paint jobs in the industry.
People constantly bitch about McFarlane's figures being McStatues, yet he went and took that shit away.
