Any one have any opinions on the zoids models, I remember watch the show growing up and they seem pretty cool.

they are flawless in detail and the general build. buy from amiami or hlj, but watch out for shipping. the boxes from koto are the size of small children and they charge you EMS fees

They are really good models and are mostly molded in color so most of the time all you really need to do to get the most out of them is panel line apply decals and topcoat, but even without doing that they look great on the shelf. That's one of the Kotobukiya HMM series and you can see what most of them look like in depth on this guy's website, just click on the Kotobukiya button and scroll down: dalong.net
The only thing I will warn you about is these kits can be delicate, especially the older ones due to some questionable design choices. I love the Genosaurer mold so much but I'm scared of even handling the newer ones like Raven's which supposedly fixed the kit's issues. If you are interested in the newer stuff like the Liger Zero and Berserk Fuhrer though, people have been reporting that they are much improved over the old kits and my Zero has been holding up really well, even after storing it by just putting it loose in a box. And like >>6912468 said be careful with shipping costs.

tl;dr Kotobukiya's HMM Zoids are good kits but you need to be careful with them and they only get more fragile the older you go

Personally, the HMM kits are too stylized for me. Lots of detail is one thing, but if that detail starts straying too far from what I'm nostalgic for, it starts to detract. Case and point, Liger Zero's head fins and the way its cockpit opens, not to mention the weird lanky protortions and strange additional colors. If you want something more accurate to the show you remember, go for the Zoids Aggressive figure instead.

I highly recommend this. What a great figure it turned out to be. I really hope they move onto the CAS sets, even if they focus on whole other Zoids more and space those out.

If you want something closer to the anime, get the Tomy stuff, either their model kits or their aggressive line. The Kotobukiya kits take a more realistic approach which I love, they truly look like machines (pistons, suspention, and other crap) I only own pic related and it's a nice display piece. I wanted to get the Lightning Saix and Di Bison that came out last month to complete the guardian force but they're not really a priority.

I’m in a case to contribute here. I don’t think the proportions are too off. Disregard the chrome, thanks metal machine music group buy (I think). Koto’s kits are great. Only had one hamhands experience on a great saber’s shoulder.

Nice job taking that picture in an obscured way that proves your point. I have the OG kit, the HMM, and the Aggressive figure. Trust me, the Koto kit's legs are way too fucking long and the body is anorexic.

I'll agree the legs are too goddamn spindly. Zero needs to do some squats or just borrow some mass from Berserk "Thunderthighs" Fuhrer. I dunno how they ended up that narrow, the other ligers I've built have normal sized legs.

I tried to line these guys up better, the squares they’re on are 1”x1”. Wasn’t trying to dumpster your opinion, anon, sorry if it came across that way. I’d be interested to see some comparisons of the motorized lightning saix and the HMM on a related note since the OG kit was incredibly slim.

The first run of the Geno Saurer couldn't put their necks straight out for the CPC pose. They fixed it at some point, the Raven Geno Saurer's are fine, I'm not sure if the Breakers ever had the problem.

The motorized toys of my childhood will always have their charm, but these kits hit that itch of more articulation I had wanted since that first 'Command Wolf' toy. Plus these are quiet hahaha!

Building up a 'Lightning Saix' at the moment, Wish I could've gotten the Irvine Ver. kit to go with the 'Command Wolf' of his I got; but sadly there wasn't much luck for the search on that one lately.

Last I heard they fixed the HMM 'Geno Saurer' neck issue with the first 'Geno Breaker' release, using it the Raven Ver. kit like the other Anons have stated. Though supposedly the first GS has never had the fix applied, with no reissues apparently since Koto put out the Breaker, and the Raver Ver. GS being the only one I've seen get reissues.

Irvine's Lighting Saix is easy to find on eBay, it's kinda pricey though.

Also, I've sorta been conflicted about the Lightning Saix for a long time now. It has an awesome name, and I love the low slinky poses it can get into, but the proportions really bother me in pretty much any other pose. I've been on the fence about it for literally over a year.
