When I was a kid there weren't any Shell stations around us so I thought it was a fake company that Lego made just for their City sets. The first time I was on vacation and saw a Shell station it blew my little-kid mind because I couldn't understand how a Lego gas station was real.

The weird shape makes it look like a mini Death Star facing backward on treads

The gun is kind of meh compared to flamethrowers and sharkshooters

The cockpit is flat and just floating out front

Even at its most photogenic angle there's Technic shit visible on the underside

No good place to attach the flags so they're hanging off the back at an awkward angle

Asymmetrical in an unaesthetic way because it's supposed to resemble a crab or something but there's no right claw (IMO it would look a lot better with a small claw on the other side instead of a gap)

Treads seem too big for the model

White and bley with exposed studs eerywhere

If I could I would. I mean hell I probably could afford it, but I'd feel like shit about it. I'll pick up the bigger one if it goes on sale towards the end of its life. Otherwise I'll be happy with a smaller coaster.
And if the rumor of a track pack is legit, then the smaller one should be more than fine.

Am I weird for only really being into minifigs? I notice I'll shrug off most lego sets, but every time a new wave of minifigs rolls out I'm THAT guy making an absolute ruckus crinkling those little plastic bags trying to find the figs I want.

What are your opinions on sorting parts into dozens of categories? How meticulously do you organize? I'm asking because for myself the overly diligent brick sorting had actually began to take some of the fun of the building away. So I backed down a bit and took it easier. Now I'm thinking of tossing most technic pieces tpgether into a bigger bin. I believe I don't need to sort sonething like axles by their length, for example.

Just started getting into some Friends and Elves sets because I like the colors of a lot of those sets. I ordered pic related for 23 bucks on Ebay a little while ago, but I'm starting to wonder just how tall this set is. I cleared space for it in my display, but I fear I'm grossly underestimating its height.

Anyone have this set and can do some comparison images of it next to standard lego sets? I'm having a hard time adjusting to how large some of these Friends and Elves sets are.

Looking at buying a couple modulars. How easy are they to get apart once you stick the pins into the other building?

I'm a little worried because I have the Simpsons house set and the house and garage are connected the same way. Every time I take the two apart it destroys half of the garage or caves in the house. Super annoying.

I found that even though it was a big pain in the ass to sort all my pieces, it's a LOT easier to build mocs now because I can quickly find the exact part that I want so there's no down time spent digging through unsorted bins. I'm also lazy so I have to force myself to clean up my build table every couple of months because the pile of unsorted pieces starts to get in my way.

For what it's worth, I have all my technic axles in one bag. I just recently separated my 1x2 technic bricks into the bricks with one hole and the bricks with two holes, but I also have a bag that's just unsorted Technic bricks and plates with pins that has a bunch of different pieces whose only common factor is they have Technic pins sticking out somewhere.

The modulars are built with stacked floors that are only held on by a few studs around the edge of the outer walls, so you can take floors off easily. The pins are only at the bases of the buildings, directly attached to the baseplates, so you could take the top floors off before you separate the modulars if you were worried about them breaking. However, the one I have (Detective Office) is really sturdy even though I've removed some of the supports because I needed the pieces elsewhere.

Disappointed that they use the same two head printings for the girls that appear in so many other sets (I think I have three of each at this point) but overall that's a lot of cool new prints and that bley hair and pink vest are tight as hell. Official minifag rating 8/10 but the green onesie baby and patriotic freedombirb bump it up to a 9/10. Will definitely buy on discount when it drops to $32 or maybe even pay full price who knows.

I compromise, breaking it down just far enough that I don't have to spend too long digging through each category. So for example these brackets were all in one drawer for a long time. Lower legs are all armored up now. I was originally going for more clawed feet, but I couldn't come up with a design that looked good. Current feet are mostly there until I can think up something better.

From here, the main challenge is going to be making sure everything from the waist up is light enough to not make the whole thing tip over, which means that ball joint underneath the red pieces is probably out.

On the bright side, that skirt came together a lot easier than expected.

Been working on this for a while, Super Saucer with three floors, bridge, all other quarters, hangar, machine room etc. but just got too big for LDD - crashes when saves. Gonna scale it down pretty much.

It seems that Lego will give still give Marvel lots of love. I've gotten the chance to see the 2019 winter line up of Marvel sets which is very impressive.

that's because the ST sets are either bad or too expensive. I got the black xwing, rey's speeder and the tie silencer, but that's it. compared to the other lines, they're lacking in some aspects. I'm still waiting on the praetorian and crimson corsair minifigs, and I want to get a Ren mask and masked head at a decent price, so far the only set that has one is Ren's shuttle, which is a bad build and too expensive, and buying it off of BL is just as expensive
I hope they make a couple of sets including those figs

I know whenever I'm building a moc and need a specific part, it's fun to spend a full hour raking my hands through a big bin of red pieces looking for a specific red 1x2 plate with modified side. Much, much more fun than just going straight to the bin of specific 1x2 plate with modified side and finding a red one. That only takes a second.

Obviously sorting by type takes longer, but once it's sorted by type it takes less time to find each piece. I assume you're just trolling and you sort them the correct way.

the mech looks okay, but the gear "saw" and stud shooter can go in the parts bin for sure. I don't really think the stickers add much and would recommend building it without them to see how you like it. It's always nice to have a spare mech around. If for no other reason you can use it as an over the top minifig/minidoll display stand for your latest favorite fig.

Here’s my Prins Pils haul from the Vondelpark in Amsterdam.
Saw some baggies and bought them mainly for the heck of It, good vibes.
Main things that interested me were the Freestyle bricks. While those tend to be just two cents each on bricklink, I really like those. Another had this minifig with orange Mary Jane hair and the knights kingdom torso were on my wantedlist since forever. On my last bricklink order I last-minute decided not to buy this exact orange bikesuit because the order got too big. That is a pleasant coincidence too.
I didn’t want to hang around too long so I picked these random baggies together with these two unopened promotional baggies. One is I think supposed to be a duck? The other a boardgame dice in gold. I love the printed(!) 2x2 tile sides with numbers and the Lego logo 2x2 tile it comes with the most.
There was this other giant bag of Lego someone had for €25,-. I saw some older 70’s train rails in there, some dump-buckets and rockraiders 2x2 printed tiles and big 80’s technic wheels. But I both didn’t want to rummage through it for long, didn’t had the cash on me and I sort of promised myself not to bring in massive amounts of items that take space. But I’m absolutely sure it was a pretty good deal and saw some Dimensions stuff in there as well.
I think I paid €7,- or €8,- for all of my smaller baggies. Now to see how much bootleg slipped in

I agree with having excessive amounts of the exact same wheels, those fenders and maybe the bases. But the other parts in that image I use frequently for six-wide two-seater cars.
Just recently I finished off a small European style hotrod using that exact base for structure. You might not use them as much in favour of the newer six-long wheelbase ones, but they definitely still serve a good purpose of making sturdy chassis with super low seating.
I'll try and post a pic of the hotrod soon.

But yeah, man am I glad I bought these.
The Mary Jane hair is nice as expected, the kingdoms and racers torso are crack-free and with nice clutch in the shoulders. Last years Koningsdag I found this exact style of gray/darkgray with trans-black door in the Vondelpark, so it was a neat coincidence to acquire a pair like this.

The printed pieces are the best though. These are all super cute and I didn't even notice the my favourite of them until after I got home. Those little Jam bottles are absolutely 10/10 and made my day when I got home. The 80’s stickers are a little worn, but they’re applied very neatly and still look super cool! The freestyle heads and giant printed bricks look appropriately silly. I hope to apply these as signage or advertising in my diner and beach foodstands. I can also use them as packaging for food to sprinkle around my kitchen diorama for my minifigs to snack on.

Final post before i stop my blatant blogposting.

The only pieces that had me scratching my head were these. At first I thought they were Belville, Scala or Clikits, but there aren't any Lego logos or serial numbers on them that I can see. Some searching on bricklink didn’t give me any results either.
The white flower has pretty ok hard plastic used. The butterfly has pretty nice printing. The four yellow flowers on the left feel cheaper than the two other yellow and red ones.(much like how minifig hands have changed material over the years) The parasol has some night classic printing but is made of this strange soft rubbery material with a bar connection on the underside.

Any /lg/ or /pbbg/ bro’s that know what these are?

I can see where someone is just starting out and doesn't have a lot of pieces. It wouldn't make sense to buy all these draws and bins an put 1 or two pieces in each. So sure to sort by color at first maybe but that would be an albeit brief strategy.

When I started, I had a fair amount but not what I have today. But when I first started separating I would do the following:

Primary Colors into 4 bins.
All Plates in one
Regular bricks 2x* in another
1x* in a third
and everything else into a 4th
And I'd separate other things into zip lock bags and put those into the same tote.

Then as the collection grew I sorted by more specialized pieces. Studs, Angles (Roof Pieces), Plates, etc.

Now I have a room dedicated to sorting and storage. I've spent hundreds if not a couple thousand on Sterilite drawers and the Akron system drawers. I have walls full of totes sorted. I think of all the money I have spent on storage but it's been well worth it. Now when I want to build something it is at my fingertips and is really nice.

I just decided to recently build some trailers and was able to cobble together a MOC prototype that I can war build later if I choose to with ease.

What sucks is when I open a drawer and I'm one short of what I want for what I'm trying to build.

This leads me down one of two paths.

Redesign or B-Link it. It goes about 50-50.

SO anyways. Any sorting I'd have to say is better than NO sorting. OF course I keep a "Grunge bucket" to go through to get some creative ideas flowing. Or when company comes over and wants to play.

Yes I let company play. But they are limited to the grunge bucket. They don't touch my private stash!
In fact they don't get to go in the sorting room if they want to play. They get the big tote of mixed stuff and a corner of my build table. I'm a nice guy like that.

I didn't mean to sperg out so hard at him he just came way too hot over a differing paradigm in sorting. I mean of course I sort my technic beams and pieces exactingly by type but those are mechanical elements so it makes sense. I just really don't see the benefit of sorting system bricks that specifically. Why pull 20-30 tiny drawers to then still have to dig for the color you want, when in a worse case scenario with your mass color drawer, you can just dump it out to find what you need?

The thing is, you can spot color easily. Shape is harder to spot. So you sort by what's harder to spot. And it's not like you sort by every single piece type. You create categories like plates, tiles, normal bricks etc. But it is much easier knowing that you need that Nexo shield tile so you go to your box with tiles and spot it there with the color you want, instead going to a box with the color you ant and having to search for that piece for a long time because it blends with everything else.
Also you might think sorting by color is a smart thing to do, but looking at your collection you don't have that much parts. Try to sort by color when you have so much pieces that just two colors would fill those fairly small boxes.

It's funny how they clearly figured out very early on in the design that girls wanted figs with large expressive eyes and more stylish hair but so much else is just spitballing. The forearm sleeve concepts are neat too. Also the early prototypes that are just minifigs with 3-d dresses.

I do believe they will give us a Deadpool fig somewhere in the near future, they know the people want it, even if the movie is not for kids, the sets might sell still, they made a Lobo fig after all, why not Wade?

Not sure if you are still around but I'll leave a quick review since I just built this today after getting it on sale.

Unfortunately the mech has the same issues as the Age of Ultron Hulkbuster in regards to mobility and poseability. At least the playeable features are entirely optional and you don't lose a complete arm if you remove them since they are just additional attachments for both arms.
It does provide a nice base for a custom mech with proper adjustments, and the parts selection is pretty good, especially if you have a MURRICA-themed MOC in mind.
Here's a pic of the build with no stickers, I don't think they will affect much and again, they kind of work with any american theme you might have in mind so I would keep the sticker sheet around.

Unrelated to the question, the minifigs are nice and I like Justin Hammer's look. Shame it's a fleshie, I could use it for my sigfig otherwise.

I just got the Thanos ultimate battle set 20% off at wal mart. I wasn't going to get because of the bigfig tax and how stupid Thanos looks, but it's nice to have the glove for my gems from the small sets. Now I have to decide if I want to shell out for the sanctum to complete it or wait and bricklink the last gem. Seems like an alright set for $56. I especially like Thanos' movie accurate sword made from a helicopter blade.

I like the ship. It looks a little weird with the escape pod attached and I don't like how it's built to accommodate it, but you can mod that too. Over all I'm happy with it for $56, but still not sure I'd pay the $70 MSRP especially considering that I have most of the figs and an actual milano from guardians 2. I don't really like the orange and grey either and have been looking into trying to add blue but came to the conclusion that I don't care enough.

As someone who's been lurking in the TRU threads for a while, I believe this anon is correct. TRU isn't going to offer very big discounts because this isn't a store where the owner has to sell all his stock before he retires so he has enough money to live on, because the guy who founded TRU died the week after the collapse was announced.

Any unsold stock remaining when the TRU store closes its doors for good will be sent to a distribution center and re-allocated to other stores that are in its distribution network where they will possibly be sold for MSRP (although we might get lucky and have a run of cheap klocki like the $1 Dimensions sets). This may or may not mean that TRU merch shows up at your Target or Walmart, depending on whether or not those local stores are part of the liquidator's distribution network.
