Will HLJ also be putting theirs up at 18:00, or will they come later? I'd rather preorder through them since I extensively use the private warehouse thing.

The YF-19 though, I don't think we've got a chance for a discount there since the VF-31S didn't get one.

Blasphemous of me as it is to say, that promo video for the YF-19 really tempts me, since now I have some "memories" to apply to the model, not that the titillating tactical nature of the set wasn't tempting already (especially those wrist weapons!) I do wish Bandai had given us a better shot of the visor, I love how full it looks in the animations.
All that said, now that I know Mirage's VF-31 is good, I should probably get around to that instead as it's still really appealing after looking back at it after all this time.

First dx chogokin and I don't want it to be a floppy shitter later on in years, where is the diecast located normally? Seems retarded to ask but unlike metal builds which can just stand there these things need to transform and I wish to know where to be gentle or to minimize transformations. >>6917989 Lol i just double dipped.
I have 3 copies of the VF-19 Adv and got two YF-19 secured.
I will declare this. The YF-19 is probably Kawamori's best designed VF and perhaps universally the best designed transformable fighter/mech of all time.
I did not have any personal connection to the mecha design when i saw Macross Plus as a kid and actually found its face and the lack of booster packs quite ugly.
But as an anti transforming toy fan, while I have been through a lot of VF-25 to VF-31 moulds as well as selectively picked out worthy skinny and simple 3P Transformers into my collection, I have understood what makes a good transforming design, which in turns create a good toy too.
The design needs to create minimal to no "kibble". While most VFs have elegant transformation schemes, the VF-1s are renowned for having an exposed nosecone and canopy, and the VF-25/29 have messy folded wings kibble at the back of battroid and a very empty back section in gerwalk. VF-31 has that silly turret thing inherited from the YF-30.
The YF-19 was the second VF to hide the nosecone and canopy in battroid as well as put the wings in the hips in a more presentable and useful fashion. Both battroid and gerwalk have a clean and bulked up back rather than a giant fighter plane leftover panel. It also has wider shoulders and torso compared to the super lanky post VF-25 designs.
So if VF-1 represents the imperfect and rudimentary pioneer, and the current VFs represent the downfall of Kawamori, then the YF-19 should represent his perfection.
The YF-19 was the first battroid that doesn't look transformable and this might be followed by the YF-21. I really do hope that bandai will make a YF-21.

The mechs are where it's at for me with Strelizia leading the pack as it happens (even without its quad mode) as I love that spearmanship. All of them except for Genestia have grown on me more since the start, but I still really like the big-gunned, big-bummed, xbox bot. The others are simple more dynamic.

It's a flawless design from a flawless piece of media.

>>6919054 Its an older release at this point and it shows in some ways, but its much more solid than the hguc. The binders are very solid due to how they attach, they slot into solid pieces sticking out of the torso. The only real problem with the thing is the stand they give you. It does not attach well at all which is a huge fucking problem honestly for a figure intended to be displayed with a dozen fragile clear plastic effect pieces attached to it. I believe the repaired version is supposed to have a better stand but its a much harder figure to come by and in my opinion pretty ugly anyway.

Not sure why its a thing as the products are paid for via the sellers like hlj and amiami so bandai have their sales, only other thing I can think of is to try to reduce mold degradation, rather than have 200k units with the last 10k being shitty they make only 10k

Most plain dx valks should be fine at small packet as it will be under 2000gram and under 90cm when packed. But some stores have rules that if your item exceeds a certain amount then you will need to use higher shipping like ems.
But a all in one combo dx valk like this dx yf-19 will probably exceeded the 2000 gram weight when packed ,making small packet shipping a no go anyways.

Hey boys. Any tips for panel lining or decal application? I just bought the Hi Nu (non metal one), and the Enhanced ZZ Gundam. I would love getting Katoki style decals on them. Any idea which decals would work well?

>>6920415 Ok cool. So Sonico comes with some hands faces a stand for her and thr bike robo. Instructions are color printed and the transformation is quite a few steps. Gonna a watch a video for that. AGPs have been known for poor psint quality in the past and I relieved to say witch Cow tits this is not the case. Bandai did a great job on this AGP as far as paint goes.

Got my MRD Strike Freedom. Thankfully it has good mouth plate paint and it's quite pretty! But some of the sockets facing metal joints are the murky orange gold plastic. Fortunately they're mostly out of the way.
Anonymous
>>6920650 The stand is kind flimsy though. Perhaps a little lazy in design. There's a clear piece that wedges at the bottom to help keep it up right or at a slight angle. The bottom arm of the stand flaps around without the wedge so it's necessary. Also, the guys who pose the figure for photos must be pros because I fiddled for a good 15 minutes and couldn't get that super rifle pose from the promo pictures

>>6920655 I got mine the other day too. Paint is definitely sloppy in some places, mine is particularly bad on the skirt where they completely missed painting one of the tips, but the underlying plastic is white so its not super noticeable unless up close.
Nice figure overall, though the neck kind of drives me crazy, I can't seem to get it to turn in a fashion that looks very natural. Also really weird they just chose to omit the double saber, and its not even in the upcoming option set.

The Gundam NT-1 is looking very sharpe and definitive. But I have decided to wait for the inevitable 0083 in 2 years or so. So I will be getting GM Kais, GM Customs and Gelgoog Marines. I like the GM Custom being the true king of OYW generation GMs rather than the GM Sniper II. Afterall, the GM Custom was being praised for being non-specific, just like the regular GM. However, a small subset of 0080 may still crossover with 0083, like the Hygoggs etc.

The stand does kinda suck, you need to attach it just right so that it's kinda supporting the MS from underneath. Once you get it right though, it'll hold up just fine. Glue aside, I love the Gelgoog! This is my first time having any kind of Gelgoog (not counting the unbuilt MG Gato's Gelgoog I have sitting somewhere, haha) so it's pretty novel just for that. The figure is really well done though, with some interesting elements like attachment points that fold away into the MS when not in use, and the way the front skirt slides up into the torso to allow greater range for the legs. Articulation is excellent, though my one gripe is that his bell bottoms kinda get in the way of posing his feet, but I guess that's mainly on the design of the MS. The spread of accessories is great (so glad I got two), the color scheme is rad, and it's just a sweet looking figure.

>>6925664 >I think the black space between the visor and the eyes is what makes it look a little sloppy ok I really have no idea what you're talking about now. The space between the visor and the eyes.... so you're talking about the black area above the eyes? Or are you talking about the space in between the two eyes? Because all the A.N.I.M.E Gundams have eyes like that, even in the fancy promo pics. When you look at it it's not a flat surface, it's angled towards the middle on both sides. The eye that is facing you will always look further away from the middle than the other one in that case. If you'd like I can get exact measurements and then we'll know for sure, but if there's a difference at all it's so small that it's impossible to tell just by looking at it.

>>6931255 Which Gundam (aside from FA) are you eyeing? Most of them are readily available at reasonable prices. And I bet HLJ will probably have some ANIME RDs discounted during their summer sale, so it may be worth holding out another month or so! They'll definitely have some on sale during the winter/holiday sale, and if you're in the US that's a good time to watch local retailers for deals as well. Amazon always heavily discounts RDs during the holidays.

>>6931282 I'll have a look out on Amazon, can't buy from HLJ after a dispute I had with them a few years ago.

>>6931284 Ah, gotcha. Hobby Search runs some pretty great periodic sales, but they seem to time them simply around when they need to make space in their warehouses, so the sales are fairly unpredictable. It may be worth signing up for their newsletter as they always send out e-mails a couple days before they plan to run a 'bargain sale'. Of course, we'll post about it in the thread too, hehe.

>>6931267 Did you buy the SH Starlord to get those explosion effects? Or they sold separately now? I though about getting him to get those specific colored ones
Anonymous
>>6931450 You might be able to get them in that color or a similar one as KOs on eBay.
Also holy shit my NT-1 Alex came in today and I'm in love.
Anonymous
>>6931450 Yea, I got the explosions with SHF Star Lord, and they were a big factor in getting me to buy him. Really like the color of these effects since it feels like we always see pinkish-purple explosions in mecha anime (particularly in space).
>>6931464 Gah, you're making me impatient for mine. Zaku Kai needs to hurry up and release so I can ship my Alex too!
Anonymous
>>6931712 I do love the purple explosion effects. I have 'em scattered about my Macross stuff and it definitely fits in there.
Also do it. Ship your Alex already nerd. Otherwise you're waiting until the 19th just to ship it. Just be careful with the elbows, the pegs that hold the forearm half to the bicep half are kind of shallow and the upper half of the elbow has a grey ring of plastic to color the joint rather than paint and it will happily go sailing off into carpet oblivion if you accidentally pop the arm off. I accomplished this task in all of half a minute after getting it out of the clamshell, and took over 5 minutes to find it on my dark blue carpet.

>>6931267 It would be nice if the AGP did reflect their pilots more, or in the case of the S-Gundam, that supposed blonde hair that ALICE has, much as I love the short, blue hair it went with.
And I fully admit I'd rather have the Chobham armour through such means than not at all. I suppose they could fill out an option set well enough if they added the decoys the Zaku Kai used in addition to the armour and a shield that has ALEX across it.

Did anyone get the full detail SDF-1 from Arcadia? It’s $600, but it’s been a grail of mine since the first Yamato release so I’m really tempted.

Thanks for the heads-up of an addition I can make to a possible Hygogg RD if they really do produce one (assuming it's the same model).
I wonder if we'll get a transforming Zeta eventually if the Zeta Plus MRD does its transformation well.

To anybody that has a damashii gundam Alex. Be mindful of the incredibly tiny bicep joint cover pieces. When trying to swap out a hand I managed to disconnect the upper arm from the lower arm and the piece immediately vanished into another dimension. There’s nothing but the connection itself holding it in place. Here’s a picture of the arm with the piece missing.
Anonymous
>>6936651 And here’s the piece from the other arm by itself. Very, very small.
Anonymous
>>6932226 Yeah. I don't understand why Bandai never gave us a modern TV version in the DX line.

>>6936651 >>6936659 I ran into that problem myself and nearly lost a cover. Tempted to just glue them in place. Doesn't help that the joint peg is too shallow and easily pops free.

A couple threads ago someone was asking to see the ANIME Zaku 1 with the Zaku Sniper, so hopefully this helps. They don't look too bad together; I feel the biggest thing that sets them apart is the difference in bulk in the legs and feet.
>>6931848 Haha nooo, gotta maximize the shipping savings. Just need to hold out one more week... Thank you and
>>6936651 for the heads up on that joint cover part, btw.
>>6932016 It really would, especially since Alex would be one of the rare opportunities where the Gundam's pilot is actually a girl (and just changing the hair to blonde on S-Gundam would have been a great idea).
>>6932147 Also tempted, it looks gorgeous, but at the same time it's hard to bring myself to sink that much into a single toy that I just know I'm not going to mess around with much.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>6932226 >>6936686 I'd highly recommend checking out Bandai's Cosmo Fleet SDF-1. It's small, RD-ish in size, and the transformation does involves a healthy amount of part-swapping, but it's very well done and looks fantastic in both modes (you even get double-jointed elbows in attack mode!).
>>6933082 For really heavy stuff, if there isn't a stand already included, you may be hard pressed to find a really reliable stand. The Action Base 1 might be the most stable option thanks to its locking mechanism, but they're intended for models and I've read they can get very unstable when something heavy is placed on top of them (might work if you weigh down the base, though). In terms of stands, the Tamashii Stage Act 5 is intended for heavier items (due to having a ratcheting base joint), and it may work as long as you don't use any of the arm extension pieces and keep the support arm pointed straight up. The problem with that, though, is you're not going to get much clearance off the ground that way.

>>6937444 The shallow pegs on the elbows for the Alex are the only thing I've found "bad" with it. I would highly recommend taking care when dealing with them, especially until you've got a good idea of the joints limits. I'm still considering just gluing mine in place because those covers are the only real weak point I've found in the whole thing. Probably just use nail glue or something else that's easy to apply really thinly and forms a good bond.

>>6920655 >>6920650 I never thought I'd want a Strike Freedom in any form because to me the gold frame was always a gaudy, garish and lazy change to the pretty cool Freedom. However these MRDs... they're something else. That base also really highlights the plus in the wing department with the dragoon deployment.
That's too bad to hear about the stand... I wish Bandai would do a better job with these. Mecha figures really do put some extra weight compared to a figuarts and the variants they make to support RDs and stuff just aren't reinforced enough. Pretty sure I have some problems with the stand for my ARX-8+XL3.
Anonymous
>>6938471 The stand's not terrible since the wedge keeps it perfectly stable. It's just limited compared to the metal build stands that have the little push pin system to lock it into a variety of angles.
