>>6927056IT all depends on the materials they use.
Big companies like Hasbro and Mattel hire chemists and engineers to design their plastics for them, in order to be safe and long lasting.
they add anti-oxidants to the plastics so that they don't discolor and other shit like that.
Most companies pretty much let China do whatever they want, but because they're experienced with how toys are made, these companies usually know what formulas China should be using and what to avoid.
Of course, since Chinese companies try to cut costs in every little way and sometimes try to keep it secret, shit happens. Also, sometimes paint and plastics that are known for being safe, but never tested together, it can create some literal sticky problems.
Sooooo... you never really know how shit will turn out, but you're likely fine with the vast majority of current toylines even if you're a mint fag.
But yes, if you had kept your EVA figure in its packaging, the same result would happen, if not worse. Early Revoltechs are known for their plasticizers leaking. Same with Figmas.
To mitigate any problems, storing them in a fridge without any light, in moisture-free bags, is the best way to store your toys. This will slow down the degradation of the plastics.
Raalistically? Invest in air conditioning and store your toys in inside wall closets (walls that face the sun will be warmer). Heat is bad for toys.
