>>6930595There's definitely more hate after the RLM video came out, which i still have not watched.
Most people treated TPM like Rogue One. It was flawed and people hated Jar Jar Binks with a passion, but people really loved the visuals, the characters, and wanted to see much much more. So despite Jar JAr and the Mitochlorians, people were still excited as fuck over STar Wars.
They bought up a ton of stupid shit from TPM and the shelfwarmers were very heavy on just random junk like those accessory packs. Anakins were gone. OBi Wan and Qui Gon were gone. Queen Amidala was gone. Watto was gone. Did Darth Maul even exist? You could find some random palace guards and pilots, but only sometimes. People ate up almost every single speaking character up like they were made of solid gold.
So it's a very striking difference with how main characters like Rei and Finn shelfwarmed. Same with Rogue One;'s main characters.
They are plainly non-compelling characters.
Same with the ducktroopers, where they have always been relatively easy to find. If you didn't find the regular troopers, there was Finn trooper, the baton trooper, and who knows what other ones that just shelfwarmed. Whereas the silly droids from the prequels were hard as fuck to find.
So these basic entities which mostly sell because troopers-are-cool-to-fight-against, there's something about them that makes them pile up unsold.
After RLM came out, it seems like everyone who couldn't articulate their own thoughts started coming out to argue about TPM again. I could definitely say TPM hate was about equal with TFA, except TPM was successful in exciting the fanbase. TFA caused excitement, yeah, but it's like Avatar excitement that is forgotten about a month before it left theaters.
MAkes me wonder what the BD/DVD sales are like.
