Each row holds 8 and I already have one dedicated to Lego Island but there are about 15 or something more islanders I don't have and could make. But then on the other hand Alpha Team is cool I guess. I can't decide because I both want some more theme variety but Lego Island is my top theme of all time.

Also on a side note can we talk about how cool it was that the developers of that game actually built the fucking island with all the buildings and shit on it? I wonder if it's still in one piece somewhere.

My goal is to build my own cyberpunk city some day. I don’t, however, want to copy any of the existing MOCs. Any suggestions?

Take inspiration from older anime. Cyberpunk was everywhere in the 80s thanks to Akira. Also there was a thread on /a/ that had some damn good screen shots you could use.

My /toy/ bros. I scored the best online auction win in my whole life yesterday.
This is Steven Spielberg Moviemaker set from very early 2000s, a set that was always placed on the top shelf in stores. I loved the studios theme and had couple of the smaller sets, like the one with a car and a collapsing ramp. I loved that set. But... our family wasn't piss poor, but not that wealthy either so there was no way, NO WAY the 8-year old me would've ever gotten a $100 set like the big one.
And yesterday I scored it with opened box but sealed contents for 21€. Words cannot describe how I feel now.

Nice going man, it's seriously one of the best feelings finding something you always wanted from long ago. comes to show life can be pretty alright sometimes. I always wanted Jango Fett's ship but I was made aware of it after it was retired and already going for $150+ rape prices; 4 years ago I find it like 90% complete on a flea market for $30 and a bunch of other assorted pieces

Do you mean the 2002 version with tan Pohatu footpieces on the wings? A certain spoiled rich kid friend of mine had that set when we were kids. It was like $65-70 set even back then, so you definitely got lucky if you found even 90% of it that cheap! I have a similar flea market experience with the Drome Racers dirt race track. The same rich kid friend had that also - he had so much stuff that I would've loved.
Now, if only I could also find that Aero tube Hangar...

I too have this dream.
Except I want to build a more generic Sci-Fi city that can double as Cyberpunk city.

The plan is to have a number of tables, set apart from each other, as if they're random parts of a much larger city.
One part will be a kinda slummy inner city section that will take inspiration from both Ghost in the Shell and from the Ninjago City sets, in that I'll use the Ninjago sets and create a canal or waterway continuing around it, similar to pic related.
I plan to make this section either rectangular or L shaped, about 2 standard base plates wide, by 5-7 base plates long. In the center will be a large/tall building, that will have a cheap casual hotel type thing on the bottom levels, a train/mono/hover rail station in the middle, with a crime lord owned night club above that.
I have a few more ideas as well, including an alien creature zoo.

But that's all just a dream or fantasy at the moment.

Think regular dated architecture but make it look subtely or less subtlely repurposed over the years + grime. I personally like flirting with kind of outdated looking tech for that retrofuturistic/nostalgic feeling.
If you never built houses before, i'd just check out all sorts of houses first to see what you like and how they work.

This is very good advice. When designing cyberpunk-ish buildings, I try to follow the concept of "there are no more building codes". Take a quality-built brick building from the turn of the 20th century, lay some exposed electrical work along the outside, stick some satellite dishes on windowsills, put some signage on it, add a precarious expansion to one of the upper floors that's obviously not up to code, then gut the bottom level and put in a business. Basically, it's a free-for-all where every scrap of exposed space or surface can be used if you get there first. If there's any open space, it's because the perimeter is ringed by guys with guns.

They're amazingly spot-on. Minifigs are pretty much in the "correct" sets, no sets are made-up it all is in the movie.

They've come along way from "Mandarin on flamethrower car" from Iron Man 3

I think that Lego so far has done excellently with sets made for their own movies. It seems like they put their best designers on them, everything is full with playability and sweet, sweet designs. They don't seem to skimp on new colors for parts and prints for figures, either.

Well to be fair, she was on that ship with Quill before the Titan battle. They basically just mashed two scenes into a single set to get all the characters in there. Even the Gauntlet is on a pedestal like the prototpye one seen in the forge.

Bubblegum Crisis was the quintessential cyberpunk anime before GITS, but I think its spinoff A.D. Police was more "hard" cyberpunk. Also worth tracking down is Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future (the original Chsnnel 4 production, not the series). I also think Strange Days does a decent job of depicting, if not textbook cyberpunk, then a society on the brink.

Weirdly, Johnny Mnemonic is completely skippable despite the fact that it's purposely cyberpunk.

I think Kite (warning: it's actually straight out hentai, although only about 20% of it is actually porn), Cyber City Oedo 808, CyGuard, Armitage III and Black Magic M-66 are others worth-mentioning cyberpunk anime, at least atmosphere/aesthetically wise, unless you enjoy the fuck out of them like I do.

It didn't have a big impact on the west, but a lot of japanese cyberpunk (and other non-cyberpunk stuff as well) stuff is inspired on Streets of Fire, which is oddly underlooked for some reason (I think it came out the same week as a super successful movie or some shit).

Also if I may give you some building advice: sometimes it's fun to take as many bricks as possible and build something big, like you've done here. Next, you could try to pick perhaps only two colors, see what you have and build something more compact. You'll end up with something smaller, but get a very coherent look in return. Spice things up with some accent colors and details. Happy building!

So, I finally got Stud.io and started making stuff on it. I meant to post this on the 4th because of the "May the 4th be with you" shit and the fact that it uses a couple of printed Star Wars pieces, but stuff came up.

it's an 8-wide Speed Champions-style Racing Sportscar, inspired by how the current crop of Le Mans Prototypes kind of look like spaceships to non-racing fans. I was also inspired by some guy on MOCpages and his work, mainly for how simple-yet-difficult you could make this size of car and how there were always constant pieces to build off of. (#18974 for the fender arch assemblies, #18973 for the Windscreen etc. etc.)

It's something like:

And I'm not saying this to discourage you, I think it's great that you're trying to be original, I'm just saying that you shouldn't abstain from taking inspiration on others' work just because of that, just do it your way
If I may suggest something, how about you make your moc about the very top of high skyscrapers, like the last 4 or 5 floors of buildings, maybe make some taller so that you have different levels, with several antennas and vents and neon lights on top, with powerlines going from building to building, and some flying cars and shit

Much appreciated! I’m still in the planning stages, trying to decide if I want to make a floating Hong Kong style city or use baseplates for easier roads. As for skyscrapers, all this started because I wanted to build a mega structure like “Peach Trees” from Dredd. The original idea was to build it on an elevated baseplate with modular levels so I could add more and more as my collection grows with a semi-full interiors but now that I am working on a full city I may ditch the interiors on all but select structures.

The most helpful advice I've heard for building buildings is to try building wall surfaces without stacking bricks vertically. Play around with SNOT pieces until you come up with a design you think looks cool, and then build your structure around that design.

But anon, the TIEs are pretty iconic, most people have been asking for a new Bomber (and also a new Interceptor, for the matter) to go along with the new style of the Fighter / Advanced / Striker. These kids' hair pieces are one of the highlights of this wave for me. After today I've got all 16 regulars from this series, but the closest store to me that sells them is 50 miles away and they only got a single box so the Classic Town Cop Guy is gone. If anyone who has multiples of the cop wants to part with one, I'll pay five bucks plus shipping in the US.

I remember having this with the skeleton swinging out. I loved that skeleton so much I bought a used one probably off of Bricklink. Had to since by then all the skeletons had hinged arms instead of the ball joint which let them dangle. He was cheap but I needed to spend a little more money to order something. I got a minifig of John Ratzenberger from a Star Wars set.

Since people are posting some of their vintage purchases, I just built this.

Got it with box and instructions, 100% complete for $146CAD / $112 US.

I just got done building it. I think I hit the jackpot on it. It looks like it was never played with. No scratches on the pieces, no peel on the stickers, etc. Even all of the figures have stiff limbs and I checked one's head and it had a fully black, pristine printing tab on the neck. Meaning the heads never came off.

Every single piece + a few extras were included. I was expected something that was played with for years, seems like I got a collector's set that sat on a shelf.

Only thing I'd like to get is a second sticker sheet from Bricklink, because I like to have that unused and the plastic insert for the minifigures that sat in the box.

Really happy with it. I love the function inside the headquarters with two trap doors to dump the gamblers.

I remember just missing the re-release of this set as a kid and playing with it and my neighbor's house, desperately wanting it. I don't collect many sets now, but I'm glad I went ahead and got this one. There's something so special about early western sets.
