It's May, that means Summer, that means /toy/ conventions.

Here is the list of toy conventions for May 2018

May 12 - Eckman's Toy Show - San Antonio, TX

May 13 - Retro Expo Montreal - Montreal, Quebec

May 20 - Everfree Northwest - Seattle, WA

May 20 - Little Rock Comic Con - Benton, AR

I go to those every few months, theyre pretty sad. Anything good is way overpriced, but if you want to buy a bunch of 90s congo movie figures it is the place to go.

It'll be my third year going. It's a good mix of old and new toys . Found a Arkham origin croc there for 15 bucks last year. Pic is haul from last year between me and the misses.

I got a Sideshow Commander Cody a few years ago from some guys mom for $195, still more than i wanted to pay but they are hard to find, other than that the show is garbage, still a great people watching event though

it's a giant warehouse that rents out spots to sellers.
There are the usual sellers, but a few stalls change weekly/monthly.
The feel of it is almost identical to a convention, especially when they have special guests and signings showup in the artist area.

I haven't been to Frank & Son for a while, but last time I was there, it was really changing, and I didn't like what it was becoming. Before you got a good mix of high-end toy sellers and booths where you could dig through bins and find lost gems from the 80s and 90s. Last I was there, it felt like there was a higher presence of expensive ass toys and imports (all marked up and available cheaper online of course) and less of those fun little booths full of weird shit.

SA in general is horrible for collectors. There are spots around town where you can actually find shit, but it's all scalpers.

I remember I use to get loose Star Wars figures on the cheap. Now, they're priced so high, it's not even worth it. Last time I went there, I bought more video game stuff than toy stuff and that was before the whole retro video game boom. It's not great now.
