>>6939099Do you only read picture books or something?
You're missing the point:
>Just look around for other toys using mostly colored plastic and are somewhere around the same size featuring as much articulation. There is nothing inherently more expensive about producing the toy just because it's uniquely designed. All that shit is is molded plastic to the Chinese labor that doesn't even need to be painted. It's assembled just the same as any other toyline.
The quantity it's produced in also has a bearing on the cost, but it's undoubtedly produced in greater numbers than Acid Rain figures. And no, they're not similarly painted. There's much more paint going on, including weathering.
The Diaclone stuff is as well painted as a Hasbro TF. It's extremely minimal.
>>6939104MSRP is $20. As mentioned, almost everything mentioned in this thread is going by MSRP (Acid Rain, Boss Fight, 4H, etc) and almost no places offer discounts on these collector lines. The Bandai little kid line bombed, so it's undoubtedly getting heavily discounted now too.
>which doesn't seem out of line for what they look like at all LOL, you must be really unfamiliar. They're so cheaply painted it makes Mattel and Hasbro FUCK UPS look like Hot Toys quality. There are literally Happy Meal toys that have more paint apps and are cleaner too. They're 4" figures and their articulation is Jazwares levels too. To compare them to even Jazwares is a laugh, because Jazwares usually have more paint apps and are cleaner.
Anyway, almost everything from Japan is overpriced. DCC was releasing Figuarts type figures for $10-20 less and one had with working lights (line is dead now because the movies are shit). Other lines like Mezco figures have way more costly features (electronics, more paint apps, cloth, more moving pieces, more accessories, etc) than lines like Mafex and Figma and their costs are almost the same.
