Watch a few reviews for their transformation schemes, they largely have the same transformation scheme and articulation - quite a bit for the latter.
That being said, maybe $20 US is too much a deluxe, I don't know. I'm in Canada and they're $19.99 CAD on shelves, and I try to nab them on a $15 or under sale price. But they're really great figures and hard to find a set of - Misfire and Slugslinger were very hard to find, if not impossible, for some.
Just buy them and flip them as a set if they suck, or just keep one of them and sell the rest if you want.
