>>6966815your pic related probably don't exist anymore,
the set you had will most likely be long extinct as an active brand
as a reference ho scale track is usually 4.8cm wide (rail width)
as for the last 10/12 years.....
quite a lot truthfully
Hornby now own the toolings for lima, jouef, rivarossi and electrotren (ho) and Arnold ( tt and n scale)
Bachmann is going strong still,
and do make a wide array of engines /stock etc.
even launching large scale (g) Thomas and friends models
digital control (dcc) is now an option across most models ranges (some even have digital sound fitted)
price wise everything has shot right up
so if you want to get a good little collection going , try any flea markets/thrift sales etc. look up any local toy fairs in your city
as they'll be a better starting point for cheaper stock
pretty much everything has one of two main coupling types (knuckle or hook and eye)
not really much else to add
but take a look in the hobby shops you have already visited and get a good guess in person of what is currently available, and where possible, buy second hand, cause some of the newer stuff is ridiculous money
hope this helps anon
