Hibiki Tachibana was just a regular intern at Stark Industries. one day some bad guys stormed into the laboratory to steal some tech while she was away on a coffee run. She returns and is chased down by one of the bad guys before she hides herself in a room full of prototypes. As one of the big bad guys bust the door open, Hibiki screams and causes parts of the armor to fly towards her. She eventually notices that every time she yells, it powers up her blasters and shoots the bad guy til he goes down. During another fight, she accidentally turns on her iPod which weaponizes the music that plays. Tony Stark notices this and lets her keep the armor, and dubs herself as Symphogirl

I will do that with non-ip based properties or if the ip was made later just to shill the toys.
Things based on pre-existing ips require a watch first.
Otherwise I might end up regretting my purchase when I eventually look into what it is based on.

I used to do that a lot. Ended up with a bunch of Figmas that I didn't really care about and sold most of them. I still sort of do it but mostly with Marvel or DC figures so they're at least cheap and I have at least passing knowledge of the character.

A few times it's led me to checking out the source material and loving it, like Madoka Magica, Non Non Biyori, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid or Ghost in the Shell
