Was TTV the group that wanted to build Mata Nui in minecraft about five years ago? What happened to that? I recall subbing them around that time but all they did was put out shitty podcasts where they talked over each others.

I might've went overboard with the color, trying to use as much of it as possible, instead of making some parts of the build look good. But at least she's more solidly built than some other mocs I've done. Funnily, I finished her before it was confirmed that teal would be coming back. Thanks, though.

Game's here boys. Well, almost. The launcher isn't functioning yet, but they're working on it.
It's a more complete beta, probably the last update the game ever received before Lego axed the project and the company went bankrupt. Sadly it's still far from complete, and a lot of stuff from the alpha got cut.

What's the most heretical pare you use in your MOCs?

For me its a finger joint where you use a 2-axle to connect a T-Hand to a Hordika head (The 2-axle is used to hold the socket of the T-Hand in place on the axle hole of the Hordika head furthest from the ball joint)

I feel like I'm one of the few that didn't mind the Inika masks. Nuparu's mask was badass, and Jaller's Calix also looked pretty good.

My favorite was always Hewkii's Sanok, I thought it looked badass. Kongu's Suletu and Jaller's Calix are also pretty cool imo, and the others aren't bad either. The Toa Inika were always cool in general to me, I love them almost as much as the Mahri.

When I first saw them as a kid, I was completely blown away. They looked cool, had a ton of new parts and were the Matoran of the past how cool is that. Went so far that used corruption of Inika as my online handle in Lego communities for years.

But nowadays I can see the flaws and been thinking of trying to slightly revamp them to have color scheme more inspired by their Matoran forms.

I think the Elda is ugly as fuck, but I do actually like it. Why they chose to give the one girl on the team a fucking huge mustache is beyond me though. I also like the Iden, and Sanok's just about alright.
Kadin and Calix are absolute disasters though. I'd like the Suletu a lot more if it didn't have the scales.

But the game fans have been waiting for for 17 years is out (albeit in a barely functional and unfinished state) and now that this piece of the puzzle has been put into place, I doubt we'll ever be seeing any more big revelations about G1 Bonkle, unless Lego somehow allows Faber to share more of their old stuff. Every polygon costs precious video memory, and when the best card you can run a game on is a Voodoo2, you need to make concessions. Incomplete texture on the gears notwithstanding, it looks like an upgrade. Earlier versions were using the models seen in the prerendered cutscenes, but the only ones left in the February build are Onua's and Pohatu's. They're absent from the October build.

Combiners getting rarer as the story went on is something I've been wondering about, too. I don't know if the story team decided they were dumb or something. Judging by the sets from different years and collectibles like silver Miru, I guess that was someone's collection. A blue one from the original Toa Gali cracked at the top part of the top axle hole. Nothing terrible, it can't be even seen, but the hole has almost no friction, so besides on having on the display on my Gali, it is unusable for mocs.

Hi /bio/ , the other day I recovered my bonkles (were under my bed for several years) and after cleaning them I decided I want to expand my collection. Apart from ebay, bricklink and ebay-like shops (as todocoleccion), where else can I buy bonkles?

I was planning on buying toa mata to "restart" the mata nui collection (toa mata -> turaga ->the 2 bohrok i don't have, makuta -> everything else), and after that keep buying "in order" (metru, voya, etc).
Is it a good plan? Should I buy them all together (e.g 6 toa, 6 matoran, 6 whatever), or just model by model?

Honestly, the '15 webisodes are the most extreme stylization I would tolerate in Bonkle, and even that was too cartoony for my tastes.
Anyway, 3D character models would be the only reasonable way to go. 2D worked for Templar's simplistic and vaguely anime-inspired stuff (and even they used a lot of vectorized 3D assets), but for a hypothetical full-fledged cartoon, nah. I think JtO presented a passable combination of 2D and 3D effects, even though I didn't care for its art style overall.

The Bohrok arc was far more interesting and creepy than any others, would give opportunity for mild horror themes and would have amazing large scale set pieces like an army of Bohrok rolling towards just 1 or 2 toa, LOTR style. And give me some REAL battles, not gory necessarily, but using a sword as a sword. None of this wishy washy "waaah weapons are bad" Lego bullshit. I want a real primal adventure story. Oh, and for soundtrack:

Not just the lore, there's way too many characters too. 2001 would be perfect for a series, because the story is incredibly thin (collect masks, fight animals, roam the island helping Matoran), but establishing the characters is incredibly important. I'm not sure how I would structure a Bionicle film that could let all the main characters shine without it feeling contrived. Atmosphere and world-building would work better too if you had enough room for slower parts and downtimes to just take in the scenery, so a series would be much better suited for that.

I love good, detailed and expressive 2D animation (maybe I should visit its grave sometime), but reasonably speaking, I feel it could have many of the same pitfalls as Stuart Sayger's art in the comics, in that it would work better with stretchy and squashy organic stuff, than with more rigid and elaborate mechanical designs. Which is why so many shows use 3D CG for robots anyway. Bionicle also uses a lot of texture, darker colors and shadows for its distinctive visuals, which might also be easier to replicate with 3D.
But maybe my thinking is just too limited, since the Ghost animations and the D'Anda-style comics have so strongly affected how I feel Bonkle "should" look like, and I'm having a hard time imagining the Toa in a more simplified, smoother and more organic-looking style.

For me, the ideal visual style would be D'Anda's more functional (as in, they look more like actual articulated robots than stiff toys) Toa Mata designs from the comics done in 3D with a few muscles added here and there, and Miramax-style environments based on MNOG's designs and color choices. The CGI wouldn't even need to look realistic to keep costs low. The lighting could stay simple and stylized, and the characters don't need to have too much metal-like detail, after all they're made of protodermis and that can look like whatever.

Yes. On one hand, I'm glad it got canned cause it would have been pretty crappy and we wouldn't have gotten MNOG's ending with Makuta otherwise. On the other, I wish it was at least finished and didn't crash so much. Wonder how much fans will be able to fix it up.

Grow a thicker skin. It's a small print on a tile that most wouldn't even notice. It's nothing but a very brief cameo, and I seriously doubt Lego used it just to fuck with us.

Looks pretty good, at least I didn't notice anything obviously wrong in the parts of the site that work right now.
It's a bit annoying that the browser's back button takes you off the site entirely no matter where you are, but that might just be part of the authentic recreation.

The gameplay is balls, but in terms of atmosphere, it's great. The mostly unexceptional writing aside, it's almost exactly how I'd do a Bionicle vidya game. Third-person action-adventure where you travel through 6 distinct areas on Mata Nui in structured bottlenecked cells, collecting Kanohi and completing sidequests for villagers along the way. The only stuff I'd change is getting rid or reducing the importance of the grapple, adding one or two elemental powers besides the beam every Toa has, allowing any Toa to explore any Wahi, and giving them a reason to do so by having masks or other collectibles that require their elemental powers or Toa tools to reach. Even without any of that, I have a feeling the completed product would have ended up better than Bionicle: The Game anyhow.

They must be aware people hated G2 though. And they have the rights to all the old Kanohi--why the hell would they bother putting G2 in when they have the ability to put G1? It's just kind of odd.

Still, very cute of them to try. I like to imagine in a better timeline G2 was good and made up for the sudden loss of Bonkle in the original line.

Why would it be? G1 gave us more than enough of Mata Nui, there's no hard feelings associated with it. I doubt anybody would have complained about a map of Okoto either, but the Mask of Ultimate Power is pretty much the symbol of G2's cancellation. It definitely is just a well-meaning homage, but choosing that particular image does come off as a bit dickish.

Projecting your feelings won't change the fact that G2 was actually pretty well received by the community -especially the sets, acclaimed by many and considered amongst the best constraction sets ever-.

The vast majority of people shitting on G2 were older fans or people who still couldn't get over CCBS. Neither of these two categories had anything to do with the success or failure of the reboot.

That was just the Ganondorf's Castle segment. There was intended to be a Makuta fight in some capacity at the end of the stage, possibly against Shadow Toa followed by an ingame cutscene of Makuta being defeated.
