I really hope not, this isn't a thing like Sunstreaker, where there isn't a non-cartoon focused version, mp 10 still exists, and if the issue is because it's a new mold of a character who's already been done, then at least they can save their money, it doesn't need to be a big deal.

I really like the MP-10, but I'm all in for a show style Prime. I really like how athletic and lean it looks. And the show head is really emblematic, about time they release a figure that tries to get that design 100% accurate.

I also hope this Optimus has articulation on par with MP-36 Megatron, that guy body is expressive as fuck and surprisingly stable.

It never mattered in Prime's case. MP10's vehicle mode is laughable as fuck. They even molded in a ladder until his rear section the rear vehicle had just because the robot legs resulted in A HUGE ASS on the truck.

I did that first thing. The ball joint is a weird and twisted angle, unscrewing the joint doesn't take the armor apart and you can't pop it off the joint, it's too tight.

In the show, yeah. The original toy didn't have a hand there, they added it in the show.

MP 10 is starting to show its age and love it or hate it no longer fits the current direction Takara is taking the MP line. The smart thing for Takara to do is just release him sans trailer to keep the price down and make him compatible with the MP 10 trailer. Maybe throw in sparkplug and spike with hardhats too.

Just got an LG Slugslinger, and I noticed something no one's pointed out (or I haven't heard of). The cockpit for the Headmaster make it nearly impossible to put other TM's in it due to the way they added the peg hole for the Targetmaster, since that took away space for the Headmaster's head clearance (Misfire also had that issue but his wasn't this bad) If you put a Headmaster with a larger face plate, you won't be able to close the cockpit.

Got the LG version of Rewind for cheap. Swapped his head with the Hasbro one because it's more colorful and stands out better. I really like this mold, the extra paint on the LG version makes a difference.

I got Unique Toys’ Warlord, their not-Predaking, today after that anon a thread or two ago was talking about it; at $120- about the cost of a CW combiner- I figured it was worth a shot. The floppiness that a lot of people were warning about was pretty overblown. He’s about as stable as an CW combiner, it’s really just his knee swivel is incredibly loose, but that only really affects anything if you’re planning on playing with him and bashing him into your other toys. Overall, he’s pretty much exactly what I wanted and expected from HasTak, and he doesn’t have that shitty aesthetic most 3P toys have, he’s pretty much just a straight G1 update- complete with shitty animal modes and tons of combiner kibble.

I still might get the Titan class Predaking depending on reviews and price since he’s my favorite combiner and I actually feel he should be pretty fuck-huge (pic related), though I wish they would have scaled it back a bit a put some more budget into paint and engineering.

Yeah, the limbots are pretty decent and the torsobot gets sacrificed for the combined mode, other than the loose swivels I' have no issue with it, he fits pretty nicely with the official stuff.

A lot of those are subjective, and don't necessarily make a toy better. Newer stuff feels more like it captures intent of a Transformer better. A lot of old classics dudes feel like action figures just wearing car kibble as armor.

I prefer when the limbs are actually integrated with the alt. modes. Perfect example is old Kup vs. new Kup. Old Kup's entire torso and arms are hidden away by shellforming during transformation, and the door panels and front wheels just hang off his arms and get in the fucking way, while the entire cab and hood of the truck clings onto his back. I'm not saying it isn't still a fun figure, but that "higher parts count" only serves to make a fucking mess of it. I much prefer the simplistic cleverness of the LG figure where he's completely made out of alt. mode parts and is pretty kibble-free.

Newer toys may be more simple, but egregious forearm kibble is a thing of the past, so I'll take it.

Yeah I'm kinda divided on this too. A lot of older figured tried to reimagine the character from the ground up instead of refining what already worked and we got junk like Perceptor and Galvatron. Looking at those figures I remember wishing they would've just redid the original concept with better proportions and articulation.

Among other pushes. TFP Barricade was pushed as a promo but set aside at the last minute at the MMO's launch, IDW Barricade died in two issues, Animated Barricade only appeared in a coloring book and Earth Wars Barricade is well, in a mobile game and not much else.

Maybe in Cyberverse they can have Barricade be part of the DJD as an actual JUSTICE enforcer.

I feel like that has less to do with better transformations in the modern day and more to do with learning from mistakes and difference in design philosophy. We still get forearm kibble, it’s just now instead of a huge chunk of car getting in the way, the arm is molded onto a panel of the car so it only looks like an arm with a hand from certain angles, like PotP Jazz.

TR Kup, and many others in the Prime Trilogy, can get away with cleaner robot modes in the first place because they turn into nothing, just a lump of parts that vaguely resembles a vehicle. Whether that’s bad or not is purely subject, but I know I like complex transformations into realistic vehicles more, and sadly only movie toys are giving it to me right now.

Doublecross is one of those figures that can be really good unless you can't let go of a few issues. There are the people who hate him unconditionally because he's got the "forced headmaster gimmick". Although I personally love the fact that Doublecross is now a separate beastformer that has been tamed by White Leo and binary bonded with him as a headmaster. That's brilliant and will forever be my headcanon for him. Some people hate his arms, and while there could be more articulation, you can still get a ton of great poses out of him in either mode. There's one guy here who is really butthurt that you put the titanmaster in the chest compartment for some reason, but you're clearly supposed to have him be a dragonrider. Also a ton of people hate the way his dragon hips peg together and can't figure it out, but as long as you're not a fat-fingered retard, that's also not an issue.

I like the truck. I don't think we have any other geological survey trucks so it was still unique. The robot mode legs were kinda balls but once you fix the backpack locking issue the upper body was solid.

I don't think a microscope is a bad alt mode for modern transformers, but what grinds my gears is that TR Perceptor still turns into the same damned microscope. Classics and beyond were about G1 characters disguised in the modern day until, like, a year ago. Do something original for god's sake.

But considering the choice between what they actually made when going both routes I'd have to go with TR Perceptor. At least in that case they have some kind of preliminary model to work off of rather than designing from scratch and making all kinds of new mistakes.

Just for the hell of it, I counted the Optimus near me, and I have:

-3 TR Voyager Primes, 2 I essentially got for free

Why does Barricade appeal to so many different TF fans?

His TLK toy is the only movie bot design, next to Nitro Zeus, that I genuinely liked. There's just something about his over the top bad cop look.

what i always loved about him is that he is a police car. we have seen a million police cars in transformers all the way since the inception.
out of all of those random police cars, Barricade was the lone decepticon. him being a bad cop set him apart from the crowd.
it shows that a little uniqueness can do wonders for a character. for example, there are a million transformer tanks, only bludgeon turns into a samurai. There are a million motorcycles, but only wreck gar is a mad max viking.
his bad cop persona gives him that little nudge from generic to inspired. it doeant take much to become an inspired design, yet a lot of characters throughout tf lack it.

I’d make him a Soviet-type rough medic.
Keep you alive, not pretty. Scars make you man, let people know you did something in the war. War comes and goes, scars remain. Autobot dies, is loss, but is not big loss when you have lost so many before, so many still waiting for chance to be next lost one. Megatron say he fight until last Decepticon falls, but so will Autobots, at least humans will tell story to rest of galaxy. Optimus is good leader, all should try to be him. Small achievement too unimpressive for Perceptor and Wheeljack, improvement to foot stability and laser sights matter more than Dinobot or time machine in long run. If Rodimus not want Decepticon arm, he should have not gotten own arm shot off or brought own scavenged Autobot arm to medbay. Tiny Bumblebee take humans out of lab, must have silence for taking out of Ravage braincase.
